Really excellent value for money when you can get this for around $300 or less. We use this as an education/work/recreation tablet and it has enough performance and memory to get the job done admirably. If you're not into iPad this choice is almost a no-brainer especially if it's on sale.

Bought the tab 8 a short tine ago and am having so much trouble with internet. Keeps dropping outI know the reception in this area is not good but my previous was an iPad and i didn't have this problem. What can i do. I have reset password, unplug router for 1minute and replugged. Internet for about 2 secs and then nothing. I did try to send earlier today but not sure if went through. Please reply.Pat Lee

This tablet is a great replacement for my previous Samsung tablet. It does pretty much everything I want. Except, as another reviewer pointed out, it's not much good as a nighttime clock. The backlight is too bright for that application. Apart from that, happy with the device.

This tablet is a great replacement for my previous Samsung tablet. It does pretty much everything I want. Except, as another reviewer pointed out, it's not much good as a nighttime clock. The backlight is too bright for that application. Apart from that, happy with the device.
I liked this tablet for the price, but then I noticed that the WiFi signal being received was much weaker than any other device in the house when at the same location (as reported by my router). Then it started dropping the WiFi connection as soon as I started to use it outdoors. I suspect a faulty WiFi antenna in the one I bought. So I took it back to my nearest Good Guys store, where they looked after me. They didn't have current stock of the A8, so I decided to spend a bit more and upgraded to a Samsung S6 Lite.
While I am still learning how this tablet operates so far it has performed as I expected it too. Some things on this Samsung tablet are different from the other one I have which is a previous model. I have streamed sports done emails and used it generally reading news bulletins etc. It's weight is similar to my older one but it is a lot thinner. The buttons you use to turn it on seem to hesitate before it actually switches on but that is the same with the other one so I don't know if it is a thing with Samsung tablets or not. Overall I am happy with the tablet and it works well updating apps and itself regularly so far which is good.
I'll keep my review short. I only have 3 gripes with the device. 1. The battery. Can sometimes feel like it depletes too fast. 2. The placement of the ON and Volume buttons feels really out of place. Too easy to hit the ON button by mistake. And 3. Its heavier than I thought. Watching movies and or YouTube in bed with it can sometimes hurt the hands. Other than that, I do recommend it.
Good tablet for multimedia use and bit of light gaming, the heaviest game I played was Pubg mobile and ran pretty well. But I mostly use this tablet for Microsoft office apps and watch YouTube or Netflix and it's working great so far. It's not too big so that's a big plus for me
I really struggled to decide which tablet to get, having had performance issues with Lenovo's. I just wanted a tablet for browsing, YouTube, Netflix, Kindle, word processing, emails, and those sorts of basic things, but my prior Tablets all had lag problems and I really wanted something quick and snappy. After considering higher end items like the s7, s8, or Surface Pro, I took a gamble on this much cheaper unit, and couldn't be happier. Does everything I need perfectly. I don't need a pen or high gaming performance but couldn't find reviews that really addressed what I was after. Long story short, a great tablet for casual users.
This tablet is the slowest Samsung tablet I have ever owned it is absolutely useless, can't even play a 360p video on YouTube without buffering 24/7 and I have good internet so it is not my internet. It even struggles to play a 144p video on YouTube!!!!!! I am not even kidding either. Absolute rubbish and even takes long at times to load Spotify, its just such a party device it's not funny. Also like others have mentioned the lowest brightness is still bright on this device haha like can't even do that right. Worst money I have ever spent, I am considering going back to my Tab A 10.5 2018 at least that had Snapdragon and didn't take 10 hours to fully charge. Only good thing with this tablet is it's 64 GB as opposed to 32 GB.
The brightness of the screen varies quite a bit depending on the viewing angle, and so it's difficult to get it in a position where all the screen is evenly lit, and so parts of the screen feel glary while other parts feel underlit. This is especially so in portrait orientation. Otherwise, it's quite ok, but a bit heavy.
