I have the Tab S8, Tab S8+, Tab S8 Ultra and now the Tab S9 Ultra. The standard Book Cover Case I have on my 3 x S8 tablets and it's fantastic. Adds no bulk, strong magnets, perfect viewing angles, elegant.In an attempt to be "Smart" the new origami case is terrible. The cover keeps detaching when held in portrait. The viewing angles aren't as good as the standard book cover case. As the phrase goes, "if it's not broken don't fix it". The original book cover case is a 5 star product. This Is an unstable mess.

Well just as I thought only a month after buying my new tablet I now have to cough up close to $600 more on the tablet becaus3 I moved the tablet in its case and the magnets didn't hold. So Inmy eyes the case didn't perform its function of protecting the tablet. And thus it fell out of the case and fell right onto the floor and cracked the screen.Took the tablet to a certified samsung repairer thinking I could have gotten it under warranty given the circumstances only for the repairer saying nope because the screen has physically been damaged its not covered under warranty. Even though the case was at fault and didn't hold the tablet ... I gave it 4 stars because there is more I like than dislike. First of all it seems to be made very well and feels sturdy. I love the detachable screen cover, this helps when holding in one hand and writing or typing with the other. I also like the pen holder I keep the cover on but, I like the fact that I can detach it. Unlike the books that were one piece and folded around the books. This one is made up of two pieces and the ends overlap throwing the magnetic off. The keyboard smart book is made to fit without overlapping but is much heavier. So I kept trying other book covers after the second try I finally found one that held successfully. The end cap is cheap and breakable. What I like about it is the built in stand and the holder for the pencil thingy. Though I never used it before. I do NOT recommend this case. This case is overly complicated and the design is poor. It is almost as heavy as the tablet itself. The folding stand (others call it the origami stand) is very limited. You can only put it in one viewing angle for portrait or landscape. The stand will only work on a flat table or surface. It is useless when sitting with the tablet on your lap. I am not confident that the case will stay together in my bag and protect the tablet. I use my table on planes a lot and now have to take the front cover off and stuff it in the seat.I wish Samsung had just done another book cover case like they did for the Tab S8. From a usability perspective, it's a terrible design. The kickstand sticks out 6.5 inches and it comes out at an angle, making it not versatile. You'll need to clear out a good amount of space on your desk to actually use the stand. If you want to have it stand at the edge of a desk/table or on a sofa armrest, forget about it. The odd design won't allow for that. I use to have a Samsung case with kickstand for my S8 Ultra, which was great. It protected the sides while also giving me a kickstand that can be used on any space. Unfortunately, that case won't fit the S9 Ultra due to a slightly different camera placement.
I pre-ordered this with my Tab S9 Ultra, and was excited to have a cover until I could afford the book cover with keyboard. I have found couple of minor issues with this design.First, when using the tablet and the kickstand, the part that covers the screen doesn't go behind comfortably, and often falls down. Second, when in Landscape mode, because the kickstand is only on the right third of the tablet, it makes the left side unsecure and wobbly. This is unnerving because it constantly makes me think it's going to fall over and damage the tablet. Got this case along with my tablet, and two months later, the fall off of the table was its last straw and the screen broke, rendering it useless. Reason: ridiculously poor design. If you out any pressure onto the screen near the top, it will fall. I understand it looks pleasing, but the functionality is poor for a $2,000 + tablets safety. Would not buy. Either buy a third parry cover or wait for them, if they even, read some of their reviews and design a better stand. Just go back to the simple but useful S7+ design.
After buying several third party cases due to poor reviews on here of this one I finally purchased this one, and it's the best of the lot. It's stylish, fits the tab perfectly and is very easy to use. The front screen flap is removable and is magnetic so it attaches and detaches very easily. The back part of the case has the new origami style foldout for a stand , and it works perfectly. The other reviews that say it doesn't work or isn't stable, what were they using it on, the back of a motorbike? It's very stable indeed on its own on a flat surface. And if you've got the tab on you lap just fold the front part all the way under so the stand is resting on that. It works perfectly. Ignore the low score reviews, this is the best non-keyboard style case available.

The Pros are: 1) Exceptional protection for my investment, 2) The look and feel of the felt lining against the screen of the tablet cover once it's closes, and 3) The lightweight texture of the bookcover on my tablet. Now for the Cons: 1) The bookcover easily shows fingerprints even in the graphite color and I can't remove them, which affects my OCD, 2) The magnetic grips on the tablet cover sometimes easily come apart at the worst possible time and 3) The price point of this bookcover doesn't match the functionality of the bookcover in my opinion. It could be more economical or either improved on by Samsung to make it more aerodynamic with both its features and benefits in performance ...
