That saying, if your vision is deteriorating, the 44mm size would be advisable. The gold band (20mm, size S/M) is a cream color and goes so well with my entire wardrobe. I chose the sport band model because it is plain and subdued. Sweat after an intense workout easily wipes off. At 33g and made of aluminum, it is very lightweight. The display is identical to the Galaxy Watch6 Classic and comes with 2 buttons. Unlike the Classic with the physical rotating bezel, this has a digital bezel. Never having had a physical rotating bezel, the digital is just fine. One of the first things I did upon pairing was personalize the watch face with one of the free designs. Then I increased the font size. Most people gravitate to purchasing a sport watch for the ability to record workouts (duration, distance, calories burned, heart rate, etc.). The Samsung Watch6 offers more than just tracking sport activities. Take a look at these health features” Advanced Sleep Coaching (detect snoring, understand & track sleep stages), ECG/Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification, Personalized Heart Rate Zones, BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis), Skin Temperature/Cycle Tracking, and Blood Oxygen. For women who menstruate, you can opt into tracking your cycle with your body temperature. What you get in the box is the watch with a band, and a USB-C wireless charger. I miss the days when you get a charging block that goes into a DC outlet. Initially, the battery charge was an issue. While it is a 300mAh battery and advertised for up to 40 hours, I couldn’t get through a full day with heavy use (multiple exercise sessions, lots of notifications, texting, emailing, phone calls, sleep coaching) unless I turned off the always-on display and use the bedtime mode to dim the display and switch to the infrared sensors. My husband appreciated not having the room lit up all night. The watch suggests a multitude of ways to conserve battery power. One was to turn screen timeout to 10 seconds, but that was not an option in the settings. The Power Saving option can be used, but it means you can’t turn on the display with your wrist. I have chosen to deal with it by charging my battery during the day as I am sitting at my desk at work. Luckily, it fully charges up in about an hour. The watch comes with quite a few apps already preloaded. I did a search for recommended apps to download, and I chose Gboard, Samsung Internet, Keep Notes, Shazam, Todoist, and Weather. My must-haves were downloaded Strava, Spotify, and MyFitnessPal. After the downloads, I have 6.2 GB left in storage and 547 MB memory. Looking through my list of apps, I see I have apps that do similar things. I plan to prune those repetitive apps to free up space. Here are some of the aspects that stand out for me and make me love this watch:• The ability to personalize the clock face with complications (features on a watch face) and a larger font.• A bevy of health and fitness features that I can grow into. That means I won’t be outgrowing my watch any time soon.• Many ways to customize the display, tiles, apps, etc.• Automatic workout detection. On the positive side, it senses when I am working out even if I forget to start a workout. On the flip side, it pauses when I stop to talk to people on a walk.• I will never, ever drop my phone in the toilet because I can read my texts/emails and even make calls on my watch.• Communicating isn’t easy with the small keyboard, but the suggested messages make responding a breeze.• The ability to measure HR, stress, body composition, ECG, and sleep; the amount of data you learn about yourself and how you can use the measurements and data to improve your health fitness.

The Watch6, not the classic, does not have the rotating bezel but you can still rotate through functions by running your finger on the outer edge. It responds very easy and accurately to this. Startup time is around one minute. Do not get discouraged with the battery life when you first get it. It has a learning curve the first few days. Once it completes your battery will last longer. I've made a few calls on it and the other party says I sound clear and they do too. The screen is very bright when on the highest setting. It even has NFC. Apps launch fast with the new processor. A cool feature is using your watch to take pictures with your phone. So you can setup your phone on a table, walk away from it and use your watch to make it take a picture. One of the best features of the watch is in the health apps. There is a lot to do here that I haven't been able to fully explore yet but look forward to try and be healthier. I would recommend anyone to get this watch.

Good hardware with a few caveats

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is a quality offering with a large, bright, customizable face and a comprehensive suite of applications. However, like many of today's tech items, the supporting app is difficult to load and configure. It required multiple attempts to download and install the software and after I finally did get it installed a number of functions did not work. It was only after extensive tweaking of permissions and settings on the phone that I was able to get the Samsung phone and the Samsung watch to fully sync and work together.Although the band offers sufficient options to fit different sized wrists, the vinyl material is uncomfortable and feels clammy. I will be investigating alternatives in the hopes that it can be made more pleasant to wear.Battery life seems insufficient. Currently the watch must be charged nightly in orderto make it through a full work day. Charging speed is good and the provided proprietary base allows wireless charging however the adapter has a male USB-C end and is pretty short. There is no charging brick included (not that unusual in this day) but you will need to make sure you have a charger with the appropriate connector. The features are quite good. The watch offers almost everything we were looking for BUT the short battery life means that trying to collect a full-days stats is challenging and the band is so uncomfortable that there are days it stays on the shelf. In summary - the watch is less than perfect but has promising potential. I am hoping that future firmware updates will help me learn to love this device!

Has all the features I'm looking for

This is my first smart watch. I've hesitated in the past because I didn't want something I had to charge every night. I'm coming from a Garmin Vivofit 3. The Garmin is a very simple device. It track steps, provides time, date and estimates distance traveled and calories burned. Because of its simplicity, I was able to get away with replacing the button cell battery about once a year.My requirements for a smart watch are rather simple. Step counter, notification from email, and texts and be able to occasionally handle phone calls. While it may have health sensors, I'm not initially interested in them. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 meets all of these requirements very easily.I have it paired to a Pixel 6A phone and it runs very well. I had to download and install the Galaxy Wear and Samsung Health Apps which is typically pre-installed on a Samsung phone. There may be some functions that are limited to Samsung phones, but I wasn't too concerned with that. There weren't any surprises with setup. I liked that I was able to find a chronograph style face very quickly. As I drilled down through the menu system, I found the Samsung Health settings and disabled all but the step counter. I was pleased to learn that with all of the other sensors disabled, I could easily get 2+ days of use out of the Galaxy Watch 6. There really wasn't much battery drain when just laying the watch down on my desk overnight. After my first try of setting up the watch with most of the health sensors disabled, I realized I somehow disabled the step counter too. I tried to guess which options would turn it back on but after playing with it on and off while going about my day, I gave up and just reset the watch. This wasn't the fault of the Galaxy Watch 6 or WearOS. I caused the problem. After the reset, I was able to accomplish my goal, disabled all the other sensors except step counting and I've been pleased with it since. There are several apps that the Galaxy Watch 6 has available, but I was initially turned off because I couldn't find a Gmail app (but I could find an Outlook app??). I initially thought this was a major oversight on Google's WearOS. I'm a Verizon customer and I like their Message+ app on their phones that allow you to manage texts better than Google's native Messages app. I couldn't find that either on the WearOS supported apps. After looking at the Notifications menu, I was able to find notification options for both Gmail and Message+ apps. While I cannot scroll through all my texts and emails on the watch, it does allow me to know when new messages come through and I can quickly preview them before I jump on my phone to tap out a reponse. When I flipped the Galaxy Watch 6 over, I noticed two silver ovals. I initially thought they were conductive sensors, but quickly realized they were release buttons for the band. I bought a band that matched my style as well as protective glass and body case. The band has a different style of pin release but I enjoy the new band more than the silicone strap that comes with the Watch 6.Also in the case is a small wireless charger. It has a USB-C connector, but no wall adapter. The charger is magnetic and helps to position the Watch 6 correctly for optimal charging. The watch itself charges quickly.I'll probably come around to the other health sensors even when they will put a drain on the battery. But so far, I'm enjoying the Galaxy Watch 6.

This is my first Samsung Galaxy Watch, and after a week of use, I am loving my new watch! As soon as I threw it on, it felt good, and I don’t think I can go back to having a square watch anymore. This thing looks beautiful and although I don’t have the Classic model, it feels classic compared to my other square watch it’s replacing. The screen display is also very good. It’s bright in direct sunlight and looks incredibly sharp in indoor settings. Zero complaints on the screen brightness and display. The quality built surprised me. I had only seen pictures of the watch and I thought it looked a bit slim and not durable, but once I got it on my hands, I was surprised at how good it felt for as slim as it is. The band also feels great on the wrist. It’s elegant and yet feels like it can sustain some rough situations. I’ve taken mine mountain biking and swimming already. Zero complaints.Fitness tracker also seems to be more accurate than my older watch, and this could be due to my other smartwatch being a couple years old, but I appreciate the accuracy because it’s important to me as it’s a feature I will be using the most.Battery life is decent. I am still waiting for a smartwatch that I can use for at least a week at a time, but we are probably some years from that, but this one gets about 2 days of use or sometimes 1.5 days if you’re using fitness tracker at least 2-3 times in those hours.Overall, I would recommend this for anyone looking for a smartwatch that works flawlessly with Android. No joke, as soon as you throw it on your wrist, you will love just how comfortable it feels and how good it looks!

Nice features ... poor battery life

Setup was a little challenging. I downloaded the Wear app and followed the instructions. It had trouble pairing and gave the same error message several times. Samsung’s help page said to hold both buttons on the watch at the same time until the watch starts rebooting (don’t just turn off). That worked and I was able to pair the watch. Then it walks you through several permissions and wants you to download several apps on your phone for additional functions. It was painful to receive error messages for almost every associated app at login. Multiple tries were required.Tip – update the software on your watch first. The watch will connect to your cellular network without your phone. The Galaxy 6 does allow for a lot of customization and has a lot of apps, ... MoreSetup was a little challenging. It was painful to receive error messages for almost every associated app at login. Multiple tries were required.Tip – update the software on your watch first. The watch will connect to your cellular network without your phone. The Galaxy 6 does allow for a lot of customization and has a lot of apps, including:Fitness Tracking including specific types of exercisesPersonalized heart rate zones and targeted intensitySleep coaching to track your sleep stages and snoringHeart rate monitoringEKG (Samsung phones)TextMake phone callsCalendarTake photos using the watch as a controller (Samsung phones)Fall detection – will call your emergency contactSamsung WalletCalculator, Stopwatch, etc…Call clarity was very good. And I didn’t have to hold the watch to my mouth secret agent style. The enclosed watch charger is fast charging but only has a USB-C connector and no AC adapter. I used an AC adapter to connect to the charger and it still fast charged for me. I wasn’t impressed with the battery life. Samsung Health is a great feature but it also drains the battery. My battery only lasted 19 ½ hours. I kept the display off during this time, used Samsung Health to monitor sleeping and exercise and only looked at a few emails and texts. The battery should last at least 30 hours, even if you keep the display on. Arriving at work today, the watch said I had 9 hours of battery left. It lasted about 4 hours and died.I use Outlook to store my contacts, calendar and emails. It syncs with my Google account via CompanionLink and it all connected seamlessly. The screen is bright, bold and big. Typing is a little difficult when trying to respond to a text or email message using the keyboard.Samsung Health is a great app and you can track weight, water consumption, types of activities, heart rate, stress, sleep, steps, blood oxygen, calories, etc… I keep discovering new ways to use it. I am a little concerned about sleep tracking. It doesn’t seem to track Deep Stage sleep very well.Samsung Health Monitor (a different app) will only work if you are able to download that app on your phone. It seems to only be available for Samsung phones so I wasn’t able to try this feature. You can even play music and the speaker isn’t awful. Amazon music playlists can be added in your phone to play on the watch. You can swap out straps too – Samsung offers other bands for $50 and up that can be easily changed with One-Click. I am not very fond of the rubber type strap included as it remains moist if you get water under it during hand washing. FYI – it comes with a S/M band which was fine for my wrist.Summary … I like the Galaxy Watch6. If the battery lasted twice as long and you didn’t have to have a Samsung phone to use all of the features, it may have totally won my heart. It’s fun and offers a lot of convenience at your wrist but some things I strongly prefer to do on my phone.

One of the best Android Smart watch!
21 August 2023

Samsung Watch 6 is easily one of the best android smart watch in the market today. If you are new to smart watches or looking to upgrade, the Watch 6 is easily one of the best options.Look and Feel:--------------------With a 40mm dial, its gracefully simple, beautiful, and compact – surprisingly, it looks equally great on a 12-year-old’s, ladies, and men’s wrists. For those who prefer a larger dial, there are bigger options and classic which enhances the look further. The crystal glass is super strong and seems scratch resistant. I have already seen this in Watch 5 for about a year and I am expecting this to be no different in watch 6.At just about 1 oz, the watch feels extremely light and after a while, you don’t realize you have it on.There are various band ... MoreSamsung Watch 6 is easily one of the best android smart watch in the market today. I have already seen this in Watch 5 for about a year and I am expecting this to be no different in watch 6.At just about 1 oz, the watch feels extremely light and after a while, you don’t realize you have it on.There are various band options. The default one is a “fluoroelastomer” which is a fluorocarbon-based synthetic rubber and feels light and comfortable. Watch 6 comes with a button press type band, which is so easy to remove and swap the bands around.Display:-----------It’s a step up from Watch 5, with a much-reduced bezel. With 1.31 inch AMOLED 330 ppi display with Sapphire Crystal Glass, the display is crystal clear even in bright sunlight.Pairing and Setup:-------------------------Pairing with an android phone is a simple process. All you need to do is install Galaxy wear app on your phone. It detects the watch automatically and the setup process is a breeze.Fitness & Health Tracker:----------------------------------The watch automatically detects the workout mode and it measures the duration, distance calories burned. It automatically detects different kinds of activities like running, jogging, walking, rowing, swimming etc. If something isn’t automatic, then it can be tracked manually. This also measures Heart rate, Blood-oxygen, ECG, Skin Temperature. This also features snore detection, and tracks sleep stages like Light/deep sleep.Tech Spec:---------------With 2GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory, this watch is super fast and has no lags switching between apps / tiles. This has 5.3 Bluetooth version and supports WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHzIt sports NFC, and the coolest feature is to tap your watch to pay using Samsung Wallet. This also has a mic and speaker, where you can even take calls if needed from the watch.Battery:-----------With abundant features packed into this little lightweight gem, with a 300 mah capacity it manages to provide a battery life of just over 24 hours, making everyday charging a must. It sports a quick charging with a 30-minute charge provides about 50% battery. It took an hour and 5 minutes to charge from 15% to 100%OS & Watch Faces:---------------------------This runs on Wear OS 4 and sports a huge variety of watch faces – Analog, Digital, Sporty, Simple, Basic, Minimalist, Informative with all sorts of customizations.Conclusion:-----------------The watch is not only stylish but also extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear. I do not need to take out my phone from my pocket every time I hear a chime. With so many band options and watch faces, it just feels new every time even after months of use. This is one of the reasons why I prefer a smart watch over a regular watch. Plus, it features fitness tracking and health tracking – all added benefits. With all such amazing features, I have no hesitation to recommend a smart watch and a Samsung Galaxy watch in particular, as this is one of the best android watches available in market today.

Smooth like butter!
28 August 2023

I'm excited to wear the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 6. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 to pair the watch with. I would say setup is absolutely a breeze since the wearable app is already pre-installed on the phone. The screen is gorgeous and the band is super super soft, smooth like butter as the BTS guys said. The screen is defaulted to "Always ON", as a result of this, upon wearing it on the first day, I was left with 20% battery level by 3:30pm. So, the next day, I switched it to "ON" only when I lifted my wrist or tap the screen. The result was night and day, I was left with 80% battery level by 3:30pm this time. Charging time is also uber fast.My favorite thing is how customizable the watch and the screen is just so vivid. I would encourage everyone buying this watch to install a screen protector before wearing it. After wearing it on the first day, I somehow cracked the tempered glass screen protector and I had no idea how it happened. The only thing I wish is how thick the bezel is. I wish it can be a little bit thinner.

Some glitches
26 August 2023

I'm getting about 1.5 to 2 days before needing to charge again. Wore it to track my sleep last night but, for some reason, did not record data; just gave me a msg. telling me to wear it while sleeping! Still too new to know if it's a defect of the watch as the same thing happened the 1st or 2nd night I wore it. I know it was on "tight" enough & it was worn in the recommended position. Unfortunately, though, I've forgotten to charge it when the battery gets too low to last through the night so I put it on the charger right before I go to bed & I'll fall asleep before it gets charged or sometimes I just forget to put it back on. So, because I've not been consistent in wearing it to sleep, I can't tell if it's going to be something that will happen more often. So, because I've not been consistent in wearing it to sleep, I can't tell if it's going to be something that will happen more often. I've only had it about a week.I'm also a little disappointed in the watch faces offered, specifically, for free. I had a Samsung Active 2 watch that broke, thus the real reason I bought this one. Anyway, in that watch, I loved the variety of FREE watch faces that it offered. This one has limited free ones. There are ones that look free, but, when they're downloaded, I found that, if I wanted some of the features, I'd have to buy it! Granted, the cost is only a buck or two, but I was used to having more free options, or, at least, more free options that I actually like. For instance, why can't they offer something simple & pretty not associated w/ a "cause" or meaning? As far as the tech, I'm still trying to learn how to use it. I can't seem to get Google Assistant to work on it. It keeps telling me to set it up on the phone app. I follow the instructions but it keeps giving me the same msg to set it up on the phone. Maybe I'm not tech savvy enough. Guess I have to play around with it a little more. Overall, at this point, it's more than a 3 star rating, but the jury's still out if it deserves the full 4 stars I've given it.
