I bought this watch (40mm) primarily so I could workout and listen to music + log my weightlifting without needing to carry my phone around the gym. While it fits the need, I've been disappointed for a few reasons: - The battery is SO bad. I don't use the watch other than during workouts, and I can only get 2 to 3 workouts in (so ~2-2.5 hours) on a single charge. - The watch is sooooo slow. It takes like 5 minutes to fully turn on so I need to remember to do this before I even get to the gym. And then the Spotify app is even slower. The screen times out (15 seconds) before it even can load the names of the playlists or the songs. You need to remember the playlists you uploaded to even select one since they just come up blank and unnamed unless you want to wait a ... MoreI bought this watch (40mm) primarily so I could workout and listen to music + log my weightlifting without needing to carry my phone around the gym. You need to remember the playlists you uploaded to even select one since they just come up blank and unnamed unless you want to wait a minute staring at your watch for the names to load. - I didn't know this could even happen but the bluetooth is so weak that when I'm doing a stretch where I'm laying down and I have my hands behind my back, my headphones start cutting in and out. - It might be better for other types of workouts, but the native app for tracking weightlifting (weight + number of reps) is a joke. I ended up paying ~$20 for an annual subscription to another app just to have functionality I could work with. - I was kind of hoping that I'd be pleasantly surprised and that I'd find that there were lots of uses that I wasn't anticipating, and that I might wear it outside of working out. I unfortunately haven't been surprised to find that the functionality is pretty limited in terms of the number of apps and the way you can use the watch. With the battery being so bad, I can't imagine using this watch as a way to consistently track your health stats by wearing it all day every day. All in all, I'm glad I got this while it was on sale but in hindsight I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it.

This is my 3rd Samsung watch. My first was a Gear S3, second was a Watch 3 and now a Watch5 Pro. I can honestly say that the watch has gotten better with each iteration. I was initially worried about this purchase as it contained the removal of the front face dial that served as a functional slider essentially, but I now feel that my worry wasn't warranted. I believe if the watch was equal or less responsive than the Watch 3 then the removal of the dial would be an issue, but I am proud to say that the Watch5 Pro is much more responsive, especially when receiving a notification. I used the dial mostly to initiate the viewing of notifications that delayed in displaying. Notifications are much faster to load and the viewing of those notifications are much easier for someone with aging eyes (I am far sighted and do wear medium strength reading glasses). I think most of the software benefits has come from the move from Tizen to Wear OS. One thing that stands out to me is the texting capability on the watch itself. It was about impossible on my older Watch 3 but on the Watch5 Pro it has the swipe texting which works very well so it is a huge step forward in this area. The battery is another big improvement although I will say the Samsung line of watches have always had much better battery life than other watches, but with the Watch5 Pro the battery life is not in days a required everyday charge. Obviously if you use the always on display you will have a couple of days life vs not using always on display will allow double that (depending on notifications and workouts also.) The last major upgrade I will mention is the D-Buckle band (this is one of the band options when purchasing.) If you are like me and very particular about the amount of pressure and location of your watch, then this band is the one for you. I think of it like a belt that uses holes to achieve the proper tightness, but one hole is too tight and one hole over is too loose. This band eliminates that issue and is by far the best band I have ever had on a watch. I have been using the Watch5 Pro for a couple of months and I have no buyer's remorse at all.

I got this when it came out and its been a couple of months now that I've been using this thing. I recently had an Apple Watch Series 3 and for a bit I was a bit disappointed(I'll explain). At first, the animations werent really as smooth as I was expecting it to be, but I slowed them down to 1.5x and it seemed to handle it very well. At first whenever you try unlocking your watch, the animations on clicking are very laggy and not smooth, but that seemed to have been fix on the November patch update they rolled out and it works smoothly even on battery saver. I also saw some scientific reviews about the Galaxy Watch5 about tracking your sleep, etc. and while I think it is not the most accurate tracker out there compared to the rest, I do think it does a pretty great ... MoreI got this when it came out and its been a couple of months now that I've been using this thing. I also saw some scientific reviews about the Galaxy Watch5 about tracking your sleep, etc. and while I think it is not the most accurate tracker out there compared to the rest, I do think it does a pretty great job considering all of the other data it collects during your sleep, and exercises on the Samsung health app. I also like that this watch can last me days of about 2.5 days 24/7 even in my sleep with battery saving on. Next is comfortability. Compared to my previous one, I actually like this more as it doesnt feel uncomfortable whenever I do exercises or even just typing on a desk and most of the times I even forget it is there. One thing to note about the band however is that it doesnt seem to retain its original shape and forms around your arm after a while, but I am really fine with that. Another thing I want to talk about are the watch faces. Sure, there are a lot that might have watch faces with white backgrounds, but you can change most of those to be just black. I found some watch faces that are really good and informational, and if you like to tinker around a bit, you can actually create your own watch faces using WatchFaceStudio. The performance is still great even if it has the same specs as last gen, it can handle just about any task you want to do now and feels smoother than before because of the update I stated earlier. I also have to mention the Sapphire display. If you are concerned whether it does or does not, I thinm watching a youtube video will help and it is only for the display, not the sensor part. Overall, Im satisfied with this product and if you are planning to buy one I would recommend it, but the Watch5 Pro is also on sale I believe at this moment, but this is still a good purchase.

Buyer beware. This needs to be paired to a phone. If you are looking for a smartwatch with it's own phone number WITHOUT needing a phone to manage it this is not it. Even if this watch gets it's own phone number you are forced to pair it to a smartphone where all your phone information is shared. That feature makes it NOT STAND ALONE. I was led to believe I could buy this watch for young person so they could have an easy way to make calls or texts in an emergency. This watch will not act like a phone on your wrist without jumping through major hoops. If I have to connect it to a smart phone then why do I need this watch? If this smartwatch is LTE capable then why do I have to share my personal information by linking it to my smartphone just to buy someone a gift. Basically to use this smartwatch as a true phone with gps tracking for a young person your going to have to get it it's own phone number (which is fine and makes total sense) but ALSO have a smartphone active that manages and shares info with the watch. I wish I knew this ahead of time and was not misled about how the smartwatch functioned. It makes a horrible gift as all the extra steps needed to make it work are just not worth it. And to whoever uses the smartwatch to tell them they had a horrible nights sleep. I find it ridiculous you need a $500 spouse attached to your wrist to tell you you snored last night. This device is being misrepresented and a waste of money. I am writing this review to help someone like myself from wasting $500. It was hard to find the true information about this smartwatch without purchasing it and going through the hoops I described above.
5-Stars not because its perfect but because it does everything it that a smartwatch should. I've had almost every galaxy watch going back to the galaxy gear versions. There isn't much difference between my 5 Pro and my 4 as far as features, the 5 Pro experience is just altogether smoother. The battery life is as advertised. I have an LTE version which is activated most of the time. The sync feature works seamlessly but doesn't drain the battery the way older iterations do. I keep the snore detection and blood oxygen features on for sleep but only use the heartrate detection on for workouts. With all that I can easily make it through two days without charging and having about 10-15% left the morning of day 3. That's more than enough. While the sensors in the 4 were really improved they refined on the 5. I haven't yet experienced any dropouts with regard to heartrate and the GPS is reliable so far. This is the first watch Ive been comfortable going out without my phone for few hours without feeling naked. The G5 definitely smoothed out the transition into the Wear Os ecosystem to the point I don't believe Galaxy watch owners need have any Apple Watch envy. It must be said that the Samsung Health app integration is top notch comparatively. Maybe only second to what fibit does. Although it has more features. Lastly, I love the band. Strongest magnet I've encountered and the band is comfortable to wear all day. Again, its not perfect but its a great watch and its I'm finding new uses and features each week.
This is my first ever smart watch, so I'm pretty happy with all the features I have access to. It's nice being able to leave my phone in my purse or somewhere off my person and be able to still access so much through the watch. Some of the things I'm enjoying: I like being able to see & respond to text messages. It records a lot of health features, like my heart rate, my step count (with reminders to move when I've been still for too long!), my sleep, stress, body composition, water intake, and even blood oxygen. All of this has been super useful especially since I'm currently pregnant. I like that I can make & receive calls, listen to Spotify, and have timers/reminders set on my watch. All of this has been super useful especially since I'm currently pregnant. I like that I can make & receive calls, listen to Spotify, and have timers/reminders set on my watch. I can view the weather and I also love that if I input directions to walk to a nearby destination on my phone, it will automatically send those directions to my watch. I was able to fully customize my watch to the point of having pictures on the background and choose which "quick pick" features are on the face of the watch. Things I haven't enjoyed so much: The rubber wrist band was super uncomfortable, but it's replaceable so I bought other wrist bands and it's way more comfortable. The other thing: The battery doesn't last long. I do have to put it on charge every 1-1.5 days, but that doesn't bother me a lot. I usually stick it on the charger when I shower (even though it has a water lock feature so it can get wet!). My husband also bought this watch and he's really enjoying it. He also changed out the wrist band because it wasn't comfortable, but I haven't heard him complain about anything. I recommended it to him and would recommend it to anyone else to try.
I've only been using this watch for a short period of time since purchasing, however I have a few issues that have bothered me. Before ordering this watch, I spoke to an "online expert" about which model would work the best for heart-rate tracking as I have a heart condition that tracking my heart rate would be helpful when it comes to managing. This was the one important factor when purchasing and the "expert" recommended the Galaxy Watch5. This is great as it has all the features I needed and the customer service rep was able to help me get a good price. HOWEVER upon receiving the watch, I was extremely frustrated to find I couldn't charge my watch without needing to order another separate adapter just to plug my cord into my current **SAMSUNG** wall adapter ... MoreI've only been using this watch for a short period of time since purchasing, however I have a few issues that have bothered me. This is great as it has all the features I needed and the customer service rep was able to help me get a good price. HOWEVER upon receiving the watch, I was extremely frustrated to find I couldn't charge my watch without needing to order another separate adapter just to plug my cord into my current **SAMSUNG** wall adapter because for some stupid reason the cord is a C-type usb rather than the standard A-Type. On top of this, the ONLY way I've found to get the battery life to last the day is to turn off everything except for heart rate checks every 10 minutes while resting. This defeats the purpose of buying the watch if I need to either manually check for heart rate spikes with manual scans or just hope it gets picked up automatically after 10 minutes. I can't use basically any other features besides step counting and the watch face without losing battery power extremely fast- ie 100% at 10 am and by 1:30 pm it was 17% and dropping fast. The watch is nice - don't get me wrong - but it isn't that helpful if you need to use the consistent heart rate monitoring as I do. I would expect for the price of these things that being able to use an included feature without charging the watch every 4 hours would be possible.
I had the Galaxy Watch Active for about 2 years and loved it! But it was showing its age, and I decided to trade it in for the Galaxy Watch 5. Watch 5 Pros: More durable materials, snappy interface, more features than Active Watch 5 Cons: Worse shape/fit on wrist, buttons are reversed, gapless band makes bad fit worse, totally flat screen seems to attract more fingerprints, looks "unfinished" with most watch bands that actually fit my wrist Before getting the Galaxy Watch 5, I had never thought about the shape of my wrists. Apparently I have a prominent ulnar bone and that makes my wrist shape more round instead of flat on top. A cross section of my wrist would look more like a circle than an oval. Apparently I have a prominent ulnar bone and that makes my wrist shape more round instead of flat on top. A cross section of my wrist would look more like a circle than an oval. The way the lugs are positioned on the Watch 5, it creates a gap. The Active sat much better on my wrist no matter what band I was using. For the Watch 5, I can only use certain bands that reduce the gap between the edges of the watch and my wrist. The gapless band (well, gapless to the watch) that comes with it creates huge gaps on the sides of my wrist because it can't even flex to the correct angle for me - oval wrists only! It also pushes the watch really hard into my arm to the point where it's uncomfortable, even when the band doesn't seem tight. It's just really trying to form that oval shape no matter what. I finally learned that bands where the buckle is close to the center of your wrist on the underside will help the watch stay in the right place on top. I was able to adjust a resin link watch band to give me a nice fit, but sometimes I want to just wear a sport band, and even my old silicone bands for the Active that are straight across at the pins don't sit quite right on my wrist. When it comes to actually using the watch, the features are great, just took a little getting used to the fact that the buttons are reversed from the Active. I think having the back button on top is more ergonomic, but it's not a huge deal. Samsung has done a nice job of making a Wear OS watch that still seems familiar for former Tizen users. But if Samsung released a Watch 6 that had the lugs positioned more like the Active, I'd trade this in in a heartbeat!

After my Samsung Active Watch 2 stopped working, was looking to make the upgrade to a more professional looking watch. In comparing the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 against the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, I decided to select the Galaxy Watch 5. This Watch does not disappoint whatsoever! Although the watch may not come with the rotating bezel, the recessed touch bezel is beyond amazing. It improves the sleek design of the watch overall and given that I previously had the Samsung Galaxy Active Watch 2, I was used to the touch bezel. More on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro: - a TON of applications which integrate between your phone (I have a Samsung S20+) and watch. For example, I am a golfer and did not have any golf-supported apps for my Samsung Galaxy Active Watch 2. Now, there are numerous golf apps to select from which are compatible with my phone. How many yards out from the green am I, you ask? Instead of waddling back over to the golf cart, all I have to do is flex my bulging bicep, read my watch and select my club. BOOM! - the OS user experience is flawless. Similar to the OS for my Samsung Galaxy Active Watch 2, there was familiarity and comfort with the new Sansung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The touchscreen is quite responsive and user-intuitive. Simply phenomenal. - the ability to customize the watch to your liking is the most attractive part about this watch. Not only can you select the apps you want on your watch and those that you want to access quickly, you can customize your homescreen with customizable presets, that are provided by Samsung, or dabble in the Samsung Wear app to find a theme that best suits your personality. Can you ask for anything more?!? Nope! - The watchband is a great upgrade. A great soft, yet durable feel. Easy to clean with soap and water. No wear and tear after a month's use. The one-piece clasp, once strapped up, takes me back to watches I wrote in high school. Personally, I thoroughly enjoy the new one-piece clasp oppose to the usual clasp mechanism found on most standard watches these days. - Lastly, the battery life is fantastic. After wearing for a month, I can get upwards of 4 days worth of battery life, with moderate use. The charging of the battery is lightning quick. The watch will charge complete in less than 2 hours, and roughly charges a quarter of the battery life (25%) within 20-25 minutes. An outstanding feature seeing no one has that kind of time to wait around for watches to charge these days. - The only downfall which I have come across so far is that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is not compatible with any current charging stations/pads (as of early OCT22) due to the watchband style. The watch does come with a small magnetic battery charger that plugs into any USB-C port one has. However, as I have several charging stations/pads around my palace to charge multiple Samsung devices at once, the watch is not compatible with these stations/pads unless you take the watchband off completely. Quite an inconvenience. It's unfortunate that Samsung did not think this through in its entirety prior to the release of the watch.
