I'm not one for flagship phones. I think smartphones have basically peaked. What most lack is protection from my clumsy hands. My last phone lasted 6 months before I dropped it taking a picture of Santa in the Christmas parade. Santa bought me this phone and it seems solid, and is absolutely fine at taking pictures and generally doing phoney things, smart or otherwise. I believe that it is actually dust and waterproof, and dropproof, but I'm not brave enough to find out.

Samsung do great TV's and Phones but the tablet that is advertised as strong enough for tough environments could not survive my bath.

Pros: Removable Battery, SD Card Slot, Dual SIM, Headphone Jack, USB-C port, Good-looking Design, Easy to repair, Open to most if not all networks I've seen, Secure, Internet Texts & Online Calling, Longer Support + New Updates (Currently Android 11, Expected to move to 12 soon.) It has a lot of the good ideas from the old days and modern design. It should be a game changer for future phones. My last phone battery died and that one doesn't let you replace it... You might want to wait till June-July for the next version and see the prices then? Other than that, I'd say it's a decent phone. Might not want to buy 2nd hand though

Florent's review of Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 Black 5.3 64GB 4G Unlocked & SIM Free
1 August 2022

Pros: been using my Galaxy Xcover 5 for a month and it's not shown any issue so far. good battery life (need to recharge every 2-3 days only). I brought this phone in holidays to the seaside and exposure to sand etc. has not caused any issueCons: only design fault: there is a crease for the main speaker above the front-facing camera that is large enough for dirt and sand to get in - but it's too tight for me to be able to clean it. not sure how this will go over time if stuff accumulates there, and how that could affect the performance or even ruin the phone...

I brought this phone from Samsung 12 months ago. I have had one issue with the USB port not charging but Samsung fixed it and returned it within a week. The phone has lasted well. I am a farmer so it gets bashed about quite a bit. I have bought a extra case for it for added protection which has helped save it the few times its fallen out of my pocket onto concrete. The water proofing works well, you can use it in the rain without the screen freezing, the graphics are good as are the speakers. I am running 2 sim cards and forever dropping in and out of signal, between WIFI signals and on and off blue-tooth but still manage to have 40% battery at the end of the day with moderate use.The only down side is the lack of wireless charging and the fact that Samsung don't ... MoreI brought this phone from Samsung 12 months ago. Poor choice if yours has the same issues as mine.
24 February 2023

Disappointing on so many levels. It's a Telstra Blue Tick phone but loses signals when all around it other phones are working. It has been returned under warranty twice but as the testing it passed confirms, signal strength reception isn't tested. So issues with service as well as denial of being not fit for use. Not sold through Samsung but via 3rd party online stores that then subbed out the sale to another entity. No way to have got a refund when first I realised how poor the phone was: at least this example anyway.Only phone in 26 years of having a mobile that has ever been damaged, dropped from seat height and the main camera is now out of focus.

Superb wee model
25 January 2023

Bought mine about 18 months ago and it hasn't missed a beat since. Wonderful, compact wee model, durable, easy-to-use and great value for the price. Plenty of on-board memory for everyday purposes at 64Gb. Love the old-school removable battery and dual SIM features; also the fact it's so compact and fits easily in the palm of my hand or pocket, just as a 'mobile' phone should be. There really ought to be more models of this size - I'm not a fan of anything with a screen larger than 5. 5" as the screen becomes too prone to breakage and too bulky to fit comfortably in my pocket (if I wanted a tablet I'd go out and buy one instead). Honestly don't see where the haters are coming from. Best phone I ever owned

Very please with the hardware features, CPU & amount of memory, running Android 11

Much better than the "Galaxy S5" I have had for last 6 years, which was only a Android 4.4 OS, but it was better than the "LG Chocolate" I had before that. I got the 64 GB model, don't think your saving money and get less memory. Very snappy hardware, now running Android 11. I have been waiting for a year to get this phone used, for under $250, it's rated for commercial use and is the only modern cell with a replaceable battery. I went through 5 batteries on my old phone, over the years.. The current phone manufactures really target the young people, as they don't have any long-term life experience to understand the mandatory need for easily replaceable batteries.
