Bought a FOLD phone that turned out to be innovating and beautiful. The concept and the idea is there and when the phone is used is an amazing phone in everyway. However why 1 star simple, when the phone works it works when it doesn't is an absolute garbage. I bought a fold on April last year. very soon after buying the phone the big screen cracked in the middle, contacted Samsung they sent me to a repair center then they fixed it. later the same week after receiving the phone the same week one day when I woke up phone was on recovery mode and there was possible way to use it reboot hard reboot nothing work, again had to go back to the repair center and they had to reset the phone somehow unfortunately this time I had not backup my data and I lost crucial ... Right away I started asking for replacement the always refused. then a couple of months later the big screen would not turn on and the front screen touch screen was faulty it worked only sometimes making it unusable YET again for a third time in less than a year I had to send Samsung the phone for repair but this time I was done really the price of the phone does not justify this quality and issues, once again a requested and exchange and once again they refused. This is where my disappointment with Samsung really got bad. The phone clearly is not ok and I told the last Rep I spoke to what happens if the phone fails after manufacture warranty ends because this obviously is bound to happen again, they did not care simply according to them is passed the return policy I mean What is this seriously, can they not see my struggle with a 2000$ phone? I was left with no choice and kept the phone. now right after manufacture warranty expired again for the 4th time the big screen would not turn on and the small screen touch screen would work sometimes, I would have to reboot the phone several times to get the only screen that would work to respond when touch it and to add to the fire wi-fi stops working it would not connect to Wi-Fi. At this moment I am beyond done with this I call Samsung and guess what they cant help warranty is expired. I got on a real fight with them and since they saw all the issues I previously had they did a one time exception to fix it BUT NOT TO REPLACE THE FAULTY Phone, Guess what as soon as get the phone back I'm trading it. as I mentioned the have they right idea and innovation but DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE THEY ARE MILES AWAY FROM GETTING IT RIGHT!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Just bought the phone, been using it for a few days. There's no real issues I personally have, but understand that you MUST go into buying gimmicks knowing that you MUST make concessions. This phone will not have the best screen, or be the strongest processor or durability wise, and its camera is years behind the quality of cameras on phones nowadays. But what you're getting is something different than just a regular phone. There are fun quirks that set this phone apart from the competition, but understand that you are going to sacrifice certain forms of reliability. I own a professional camera, so I don't care that this phone camera is the equivalent of something top of the line in 2018. Case in point, the flip 4 is the first phone in this line that is really competitive with the competition. For me, the product is around an 80 to 90/100 and I can't ask for anything better for the price point and the tech out at the moment (thank you guys who used the flip 1 to 3 for beta testing the design), but for some people, the gimmick isn't useful or fun enough for the price asked, and they might give it more of a 3 star review. If you have the expectation that this phone should be better than the tried and true flat phones out there that has been done for more than a decade now, please don't do that. Be pleasantly surprised for a quirky, slightly flawed product that comes so close to the current best phones on the market. But remember, those phones don't flip.This review is coming from a guy who bought the lavender color, 128 gb model, and I've been using the Samsung S 10 before this, the S 7 edge before that, the Note 4 before that, the IPhone 4S before that (cough cough), and a flip phone before that. The fold 4 is not for everyone and I respect Samsung targeting a certain audience with those who may not fit the preferred description a chance to try something different. The cost of the fold is not an issue as the trade-in, and the carrier's discount in the state made this an attractive offer. I found the front screen complaints confusing as the front screen has an expandable keyboard, screen adjustments and everything needed to make it functional while folded with the exception of not being able to use an S pen on the screen which is a con for me (not a deal breaker). There is no need to compare this against any other cameras as it doesn't change the fact of great picture production I did not find a problem with the inner camera as it did not produce any blurry photos and my natural features are seen clearly. The settings are more than plenty to provide assistance. I have not had a problem with the screen, hinge or the screen and I have kids handling my phone more than I would like them to, but tha is what insurance and or Samsung care is for. My phone is cased and because of the slim design, I am able to case the fold and use a built in slot for the s pen. I am okay with it not having a s pen installed because it can be really annoying once you lose the s pen and have the program forcefully on screen when you do want it. I do feel the fold should have come with a wall charger. The s pen would have been a nice touch, but it may have cut into the sales of the s pen pro. The battery is good but it was great before one of the updates. I multi-task alot and not having to go back and forth between multiple screens is wonderful. Not to mention the usefulness of utilizing the accessibility and labs settings. There are obviously too many things to list that makes this fold 4 a great purchase but it is a great purchase.

Only downside is the outer screen is too narrow cause as I stated I'm coming from enormous note phones but the inside screen more than makes up for it also I use Microsoft SwiftKey as my keyboard so the outer screen isn't that hard working with cause their keyboard is way bigger than the stock keyboard. The battery lasts me a pretty long time like both my note 10 plus and note 20 ultra do so I don't have to worry about battery drainage. I also have 2 lightning fast chargers so they charge up pretty quickly. As long as you go into battery settings and put apps to sleep the battery should get you through a whole day or more. I highly recommend this phone. Yes it's pricey but with the monthly device payment plans and even great trade in deals you can get a grand off on this phone. Yes it's a bit heavy and bulkier with a case but it doesn't bother me but just make sure it's snug in your pocket so it doesn't come tumbling out. I use a purse so I don't worry but I did buy an i Blason Cosmo case on Amazon that is quite slippery and as much as I love it cause it has a pen compartment I'd rather have something that has more of a grip to it. If you like the pen you have to buy 1 cause it doesn't come with 1 and you can't use an S-pen that came with the note phones it has to be for the fold only. Yes of course Samsung anything to get us to spend more $! Also no charging block so if you're coming from an iphone you need to spend extra $ on a charger unfortunately, but eBay or Amazon has cheap ones if you don't feel like spending large amounts of $ on them at your carrier. I can go on about the different things it comes with but I'd be here all day. I'm not much into picture taking since my dog passed away but I assure you this phone takes dope pics! You can take pics while phone is closed or open and either way it takes great photos. I heard a z fold 5 will be out next yr but I didn't want to wait esp since I heard there won't be much difference but if you already have z fold 3 I'd wait on the 5. All the videos I've watched say not much difference between 3 and 4 except the outer screen is only slightly wider on the 4. I heard horror stories about the screen cracking in the middle of outer screen or ppl whining about the fold part noticeable but I really don't notice it I'm too wrapped up in what I'm doing to even notice it and if you do it's only if the screen is turned off. The hinge is super sturdy so I don't see the screen cracking but even so that's what insurance is for plus you get a yr warranty. Now it you're accident prone then maybe but as long as you have a case it should be fine. The inner screen has a pre-installed screen protector but outer doesn't but most of the cases for this phone have built in screen protectors but if it doesn't I highly recommend a screen protector then.

I still own my note 20 ultra and note 10 plus so those still work great but since I'm a tech I'm always looking for the latest and greatest technology and since I heard not so good things about the 1st couple fold phones I thought maybe they got it right this time around. It's almost as if it's a science project. They keep at it till they either get it right or they don't. I went to best buy for the device but I've been a Verizon customer for 18 yrs so I thought I'd write a review on here too. I wrote a stellar review on the best buy app but that was before I started digging deeper into the reviews and finding out about the cracked screens. Now I get if it was the fault of the owners but most stated by opening and closing the device the screen began to show signs of cracks and peeled off areas. Now there is a built in screen protector on the inner screen but they tell customers to not take it off cause that's kind of what's holding it together. It's not really a thick durable glass cause obviously you can't bend thick glass. That is also why they tell you to buy a soft tipped foldable pen so the pen doesn't scratch the screen with the normal s pens that come with the note phones also the pen doesn't even wk on the outer screen so what's the sense? What I don't get is why couldn't they just have a built in pen in the phone like they did for the note line? They're even doing it for the S line now. Is it cause the phone is too small and they need room for the battery or does Samsung just do everything on purpose to make you spend more $? Now I've never been 1 to put down Samsung cause I've owned every note phone except the 4 & 7 and every one of them worked flawlessly but if I'm going to fork over almost 2 grand on a phone (science project) it better be the best. Hey maybe not everyone will have cracked screens cause a few ppl said they've had theirs for awhile and it never did that but it makes me very scared to think that maybe this time will be the time I open up the screen and I'll find it cracked. I thought about getting it again and chancing it cause I grew to love it but the more I think on it I think it's best I stay away from it and wait till the s23 ultra comes out in Feb. I'm very disappointed that they did away with the note line but I guess they're making the S line similar to it even added the S Pen. If it wasn't for that screen flaw I'd totally be writing this review from that phone. The picture quality inside and out is flawless, the battery wks great, the multi tasking capabilities are stellar, the camera on both outer and inner screen take pretty decent pictures and I can just go on and on but if it's not made durable I don't want to be walking around in a bubble fearing the worst. Even the outer corners of the phone scratch pretty easily too since I saw videos on it. Best buy gave me 30 days so I had fun with it while it lasted though.

I was absolutely appalled by the price of the repair. $540 ( reduced to $200 if you preordered the product however I assume those reading these reviews intend to purchase the product). I acknowledge and recognise that modern flip phones are "fairly" recent and repair prices may be costly however I did not expect the repair to be priced at half the cost of an iPhone, or a third of the original product. Nevertheless, I believe the price is absurd for just an LCD screen replacement. I question whether this price is coherent as I do not believe I am at fault due to a MINUSCULE "dent on the edge of the bezel". If this was the case, the issue should have appeared when the dent was made, which could not have been overnight as my phone was left untouched, unless the product was made to deteriorate rapidly. At the end of the day, its fast charging is incredible, S pen feels great, crease is expected and hardly noticible, or an issue, folding screen feels well integrated, just as has been proven time and time again please be gentle with the inner display as the protector for the folding glass has a relatively poor scratch rating being that it needs to be able to fold. Again, i did my research and know my risks and where to look out for it. All in all, i think this is a great phone and intend to use it for years. I also believe the hardware is beefy enough to stand the test of time. That being said depending how crazy samsung gets with improvements in the following versions i might bite the bullet and upgrade to a newer fold rwhen the time is right. Ill likely have paid it off by then, though. I love this phone and would ABSOLUTELY recommend it to those who just feel like their phones done give them enough. If the deal is there. Also if they ever made the phone more tablet shaped in terms of compatibility with certain gains. What better way to write this review than sitting here with my Z Fold 4 unfolded, using the split keyboard, allowing me to comfortably write an in-depth review on a mobile phone. The unfolded, tablet-like display is truly a treat to interact with. That's the perfect place to start, considering the novelty of a folding display is what got me thinking to begin with. If you're wondering why I waited until the fourth generation, well, we all know what happens when we adopt brand new technology early. I had to let most, if not all of the kinks be ironed out.Display/Build Quality/S PenThe Z Fold 4's main display (tablet mode) is a 7.6" QXGA+ 2176x1812 AMOLED with 374 Pixels Per Inch (ppi) with HDR10+ and a Variable Refresh Rate of up to 120hz. The VRR display allows the phone to dynamically lower the refresh rate, where it makes sense, to save on battery life. If you're wondering what QXGA+ means, just know it's in between a display resolution of 1440p(QHD) and 2160p(UHD) and has an 21.6:18 aspect ratio. In other words, it's pretty **bleep** crisp. The 120hz refresh rate is immediately recognizable as someone coming from the 120hz Pro Motion Super Retina XDR display on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. For general navigation, web browsing, scrolling, and multitasking they're both near identical in terms of snappiness, but the Z Fold's animations seem to be ever so slightly shorter, edging it out as a win for me in overall responsiveness at my fingertips. We can't leave out what's arguably the most handy part of the Fold's display configuration, and that's the cover display that allows you to easily use the Fold as a conventional, regular sized smartphone, that is if you're willing to overlook the almost obnoxiously chunky feel while in that mode. This is further exacerbated by a particular phone case, but more on that later. The cover display is what you'll likely use the majority of the time you're out and about once the initial excitement for the main display wears down a bit. Both of the Fold's displays get bright enough to easily see what's going on, even in direct sunlight. Text is easily legible, and texting is easy work, especially on the main display.One of the most enjoyable experiences on the near tablet sized display, besides being able to comfortably watch all your favorite content from any streaming service, believe it or not, is the extra S Pen functionality.I highly recommend buying the Samsung Fold Edition Case with S Pen included for $90. Normally, a quality case will run you $50 and the Fold Edition S Pen costs another $50, so that's a $10 saving for something that's almost half the reason you'd buy this phone to begin with. The other upside to this particular case is the satisfying soft but sturdy material that is a pleasure to touch regularly. It also has a protruding hump on the back that holds the S Pen in place, but also acts as a handle that makes the Fold much easier to hold onto. I can't emphasize quite how much this truly improved my experience holding the phone, but I can say, without a dount, I'd NEVER use it any ither way. The S Pen technology in general has come a long way, with very precise stroke detection, as well as being able to detect pressure for light or dark strokes. Personally, as somewhat of a mediocre artist, I truly enjoy drawing and coloring in the built in PenUp app. Handwriting messages and notes in Samsung Notes is also satisfying, and offers up a criminally underused feature introduced with the earliest Samsung Note series phones back in the day, and that's the scrapbooking feature that allows you to drag and drop pictures or excerpts from web pages directly from a browser with the URL embedded into the note. There's tons of hidden S Pen features I highly recommend watching a YouTube video on. Samsung has opted for one of themost powerful processors in an Samsung phone, and one that's used in the majority of recent gaming phones, the first generation 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ (SM8475). The chip has an octa-core CPU with variable multi core clock speeds, and an Adreno 730 GPU. I chose the base model with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM which is the standard across all storage capacity configurations.What this means for real world performance is absolutely breezing throughmultitasking,which is better than ever on the main display, where you can now have three, and technically even four applications open at the same time. With three application windows open, you have one taking up half of the main display vertically, and two other applications, square shaped, taking up the other half of the display. So two squares and one vertical rectangle. Picture having a YouTube video in one square, a text box in another, and Samsung Notes in the vertical rectangle.As far asgaming goes, there's not a single mobile game,whether it be on the Play Store or an external APK that this device can't completely max out at its highest supported frame rate. Games that run at 60FPS are a cake walk and the few supported 120FPS games are a near flawless experience as well.One thing I underestimated was just how much of a delight gaming would be on the large main display and just how many games and applications "just work" and fill up the entire display. Out of 75 or so applications I've tested on the Fold, only one of them had to be manually adjusted to fill the entire display, and even then, it somehow just magically knew how to translate into the display's odd aspect ratio.Unfortunately, Samsung's arguably most interesting phone has only received Android version 12L, while some of the other latest Android devices have received the brand new Android 13. I imagine this wouldn't matter as much given Samsung is still opting for itsproprietary secondary overlay UI, One UI 4.1.1, which is likely necessary to tie in the seamless multitasking and S Pen features, as well as some other niche features like DeX. I won't get into DeX much in this review because it's an impractical feature if you ask me, allowing for a user to use their Fold somewhat like a laptop. "Google it."Hands down, one of the best features of this device is the extremely reliable and consistent fingerprint reader built into the side power button, below your volume rocker. I am truly blown away by how fast an unlock is. There's also a fairly quick and somewhat consistent facial recoginition unlock that you can use in conjunction with any other unlock method, if that floats your boat.
