An amazing monitor for gaming

This monitor started as a 5 out of 5 for me but sadly with time it has grown to be closer to a 4 out of 5.The reasoning behind my decision is that this monitor has quite an interesting stand included. The stand looks like just two pieces of plastic attached to the bottom of the monitor and they are comicially small for the size of the monitor. This was an easy fix though with the VESA capabilities allowing me to easily mount my monitor onto my desk as to prevent the wobbling from the stand.Overall I would recommened this montitor to anyone looking for a curved display and hope that they would soon love theirs as much ... MoreThis monitor is great to use for gaming! I found this monitor quite bizarre. It has fantastic black levels. In the picture you can see my all black desktop background. Almost flawless, and I'm saying that as an OLED lover. And the black is uniform. But when it comes to grey levels... somehow it gets an IPS like glow around the corners and has terrible uniformity. The color is atrocious. I had to do tons of fiddling to get it usable, but that involved boosting the color vibrancy to insane levels, just for it to show red as red instead of a washed out brown, and even then it doesn't hold a candle to my regular entry level IPS monitor Finally, this monitor's greatest sin is the curvature. The 1000R should be avoided at all costs. It's not even a uniform curve! It is more curved in the middle of the screen ... MoreI found this monitor quite bizarre. It has fantastic black levels. It is more curved in the middle of the screen than the edges, so it has a bizarre dip in the middle and then flattens out on the sides. Wack. This might work for gaming but for everything else you get warping. Like... moving a desktop window from one side to the other you can see it distort. See pictures for more on the curve.

This monitor is beautiful, but when it came out of the box all my colors looked washed out and dull. It took several hours of tweaking with three different computers to finally get the settings right. If your colors look washed out, use windows calibration tool (run command dccw) and then adjust the color settings for your computers. The biggest culprit for me was contrast, both on my mac & gaming computers and the screen itself.Beyond that issue, the monitor runs great. It’s huge, the images are super clear, and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when I finish my custom gaming rig.

Check for Dead Pixels
10 May 2021

I spent a lot of time looking up 1440p monitors in the 32 inch size before deciding on this Samsung. It beat out other brands with better specs for about the same amount in part because of its brand name. If you've researched this model, then everything you've read about it is probably true. It has a clean, crisp picture. I agree that the curve in the monitor helps you become immersed. The stand is very basic and only allows minimal adjustment. However no USB hub and no USB-C input. Also despite what it says online, it comes with a DP cable, not an HDMI cable. However, when I got it home, it had dead pixels. Not a lot but they were grouped together making it appear bigger than it might have had they been spread out. Microcenter was great, it was an easy exchange. The reason I took off two stars is because it was a chore to drive to exchange the monitor (over an hour from my home one way). Additionally, when I exchanged the monitor, I had lost confidence in the brand/model and added the extended warranty offered through Microcenter (especially after reading online what you needed to do to invoke Samsung's warranty - seemed like hassle), which added another $100 to the cost. I realized after that if I had an extra $100 in the budget (w/o the warranty), I could have gotten a better spec monitor. Now that everything is working, I love the experience with this monitor. It is big and beautiful. Gaming and work are a lot better - I can have two PDF's open side-by-side in portrait orientation instead of having to switch back and forth between different Windows desktops. It's definitely a step up from my old 24 inch. But if you get this monitor, check it before putting everything back together.

DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!
5 April 2023

Very disappointed. I bought this through Amazon and the description left out lots of information. Not what I expected. Do your research if you are looking for good quality. This monitor is too outdated for me. It was only released a few year ago so I just expected more. I'm picky so most will not understand the frustration. Cannot run 4k higher than 60fps; you have to sacrifice using free sync and wide gaming options as well as high FPS to get good picture quality. Dolby Vision is not supported, no internal speakers, and the ports are outdated... HDMI 2.0, DP 1.2, not sure about the USB but I doubt it's a 3.0 and it has one port per connection. Unfortunately I cannot find what I want under 500$ this is what I have to settle for.

Excellent for the Xbox Series
3 August 2022

I use the G5 monitor for my Series X. Even though I bought the Q70T, I also bought this monitor for traveling. It's size makes it way easier to pack and travel with ( since I work outside my hometown)It is perfect with the 144 Hz refresh rate and 1440p, which honestly, doesn't look any different than 4K.FPS games look amazing on this monitor and it's response time helps me defeat other players when I play Halo: Infinite, COD, and even Fortnite. The refresh rate makes games look way smoother, and more enjoyable. For it's price, the G5 is perfect for next gen gaming, either with the Series X or PS5, this addition to your set up will make a huge difference!

Good monitor, expensive in cables
8 February 2023

The screen itself is good on paper with it being 1440p and 144Hz, it is also relatively cheap, so what's the problem with it? the space on the back for cables is so small that it may cause cables such as a displayport cable to break due to it being bent too much.I personally experienced this a couple of times already with the original cable just not working after a week and since then having to buy 2 new cables, going on a third now. All the cables have either been unable to bend enough so the cable would bend the port itself, or the cable has bent too much causing it to break the cable itself, which was what happened with the original cable. This is a huge design flaw and I'm honestly surprised they didn't notice or think of this in the design process.

Issues with freesync but a great monitor
10 July 2021

Keep in mind if I found a fatal flaw in this monitor that can often be overlooked so I hope this can help someone having a similar issue. If you are using a AMD Radeon card like I am (6700 XT) Make sure that before you enable Freesync on the monitor that you go into the monitor menu and change the refresh rate to 144hz, If you do not do this the monitor for some reason locks at 60hz internally (please note windows will still show 144hz) This can cause green pixelated textures in games etc very annoying and you might think your video card is artifacting or going bad where it is just a error with freesync. Now onto the review.Pros:Great colors for a VA panel once calibrated. No dead pixels at all unlike many other panels in the same price range (luck of draw ... MoreKeep in mind if I found a fatal flaw in this monitor that can often be overlooked so I hope this can help someone having a similar issue. Not bad not amazing. Just good. Pros and cons.

Overall a good monitor if you can get it for a decent price. I got mine for around $460.Pros: *Amazing Color (I know some Samsung products tend to over saturate the colors but this monitor looked great if your getting this monitor for video and photo editing it really does look great. The monitor covers I think all of the dcip3 color space)*Refresh rate is a plus. (It can be a little hard to find a monitor in 21:9 aspect ratio at 165hz)*Availability*Bang for buck. (At $460 it has some pretty good features, read spec sheet for most)Cons: *Smeared Darks (It's a little harder to explain this one, but I play a lot of tarkov. It's a dark game and when I'm looking into a black and grey corner the details almost completely disappear)*Fake HDR (It says it supports ... MoreOverall a good monitor if you can get it for a decent price. The HDR on this monitor looks worse than the SDR. NOT SAYING THE SDR LOOKS BAD. Just that the HDR looks awful)*Vesa mount on the back is a little too high for some mounts. (My mount in particular is an arm mount that attaches to my desk. Because the vesa mount on the monitor is so high is sags down at the bottom. I would suggest a heavier duty monitor arm)*Freesync premium. (Now I know this may seem like it should be a pro. But it's just a bummer because in my instance I have a rtx 3080. Most freesync premium monitors at least are compatible with g-sync but this monitor in my experience was not. Although I didn't have any issues with screen tearing or latency)Overall a good monitor for the price. The curve is a little aggressive at 1000R but really not a bad curve for the size.

Vivid screen just not practical for daily work tas
26 August 2021

I am gonna be honest and fair with this review. I was so pumped about this monitor after watching people on YouTube rave about them. So I dove in and bought it.. Then I started setting it up and realized how much space it took up and how awkward it was to try and make it fit on my desk. So once I found a nice enough spot for it I turned it on and started using it I realized real quick that it was too Curved and annoying to work on.. It looks amazing and is a cool experience but not something I would continue to use over a two monitor set up. It just to big and the curve is a bit annoying to try and work on. The curve is to massive to multitask on. There is just not as much real-estate as a dual monitors set up. The curve is to massive to multitask on. There is just not as much real-estate as a dual monitors set up. I felt like I had less desk space and not as much screen to work with.. It makes everything look stretched and difficult to read. So multitasking on It felt awkward. The other problem I encountered was gaming.. The screen is so odd to look at that it made it difficult to play any type of 1st person shooter type game. You have to constantly scan the whole screen to find someone and when you do it's almost impossible to shoot them because of how lardge the screen is. The only game I enjoyed playing on it was Starcraft because of the immersion it gives you with the curve. So that was cool but for everything else I would rather have a normal dual 27 inch monitor set up for space saving and work related tasks. If you take away all the negatives and just look at the screen itself and how it looks its awesome and I don't want to take that away from it because it's a great screen and will probably work great for some people. It just doesn't work great for what I am using it for. So I am sending back but won't give the product a bad rating because it's awesome and does what it claimed in the description it's just not good for what I do on a day to day basis. Sorry for the long review just wanted to be honest and fair at the same time.
