Before I get into the meat of the review, one thing as a bit of a level-set here. First, I work in IT in the corporate world and have for over 15 years - so combined with gaming and PC building being a hobby of mine, I spend over 10 hours a day using screens of various types, sizes and shapes. While I'm not a graphic designer or artist that uses color accurate displays, I definitely know my way around a screen and what makes a good one. And this, my friends, this is a good one.First off, what you buy a screen for - the picture. Samsung gets this part spot on - a quality panel with great brightness, a high refresh rate and good viewing angles as well as deep, rich colors makes this a beauty to view. The "QHD" (2560x1440) resolution is the sweet spot in my mind for computer monitors in the 27-28" class - 1080p starts to look a bit grainy since you sit closer to a monitor than you would a TV, but 4K doesn't have as many benefits at this size since then the pixels get super small and most people would turn up the "scale" anyhow meaning you lose the benefits you're paying for. I'm rather ambivalent on the curve here - I think curve tends to help more on the ultra and super-ultra wide screens than more normal aspect ratios, but it doesn't hurt. There's also HDR, "Game" modes with adaptive refresh rates (FreeSync here, not GSync...officially, though I was able to get it to work "unofficially") and a ton of settings so you can tweak to your hearts content. The stand is sturdy and features a LOT of adjustability and you can VESA (wall or arm) mount the screen if you want, though note the weight as this isn't a light monitor.Connectivity is good with 2x HDMI and 1x full-sized DisplayPort. The monitor can also act as a hub if you connect the included USB cable from your computer to the monitor, splitting it into ethernet and 2 more USB-A ports. This is nice if you use a laptop, you can just plug in USB-A and HDMI and off you go. That said, in this day and age, it would have been nice to see a USB-C connector there instead so you could get power, display and data all over one cable to your laptop instead of needing three cables for those three types of signals, but it's not bad.The monitor actually does double duty as a TV as well with an included remote, built-in speakers and Samsung's smart TV software so you can stream from many internet video sources - Hulu, Netflix, Prime, and so on - right through the monitor without anything extra (it has built in Wi-Fi - and you can also connect external wired or Bluetooth speakers if you wish, though the built-in speakers don't sound bad - they're better than my laptop). This works really well and I can definitely see using this to watch videos/movies in my office. You can also do a split screen / picture in picture with the Samsung TV Plus or two inputs (it doesn't seem that you can do Hulu in a split screen with the built-in app...but I suppose if you have Hulu and you're using a computer attached, you could just create your own PiP with a small window). Technically, you can also use this monitor for light office work without even having a computer - it has a built-in web browser and you can browse to online document editing services like Microsoft 365 and Google Docs - but it's not the snappiest thing in the world. It's fine for making a super quick edit or (better) viewing a PowerPoint, but I wouldn't want to work on it for any sustained length of time. But hey - how many monitors can let you work without even HAVING a PC attached? (You do need some sort of keyboard / mouse attached via USB for that functionality). There are also LED lights at the bottom of the monitor - they aren't bright (more like accent lighting) but I like them and there are lots of options to configure them - and they default to "off" if you don't want them. All in all, this is an amazing monitor with great build quality, great features and a whole lot of flexibility and usability. It's not cheap, but in this case, you get what you pay for. Definitely recommended if you're in the market for a high-end 27" QHD.

Samsung has packed this monitor with tons of smart display features, plenty of inputs, a versatile stand that allows 90 degrees of rotation, and, most importantly, a high quality panel which combines the deep blacks and high contrast VA panels are known for with excellent refresh rates. The gentle curve of the screen takes a bit of getting used to, especially for productivity tasks, but after adjusting I find it’s great to use for everything from high frame rate gaming to 4 hour work sessions.I’ve been using this for about an 80/20 mix of home office work and gaming and it has excelled at both. The display is sharp, contrast is superb (not as good as OLED but outstanding for LCD), color rendition reasonably accurate, and the 1440p resolution keeps things clean and easy to read, even for legacy Windows apps which don’t always scale well on 4K or other high density displays. In games, the fast response time, high refresh rate, and support for variable refresh rates make for a very smooth experience. I’ve tried high FPS shooters like Halo Infinite and slower paced games like Uncharted and all of them have rendered superbly without tearing or ghosting. HDR worked reasonably well for games which supported it. VA panels don’t usually switch as fast as some other technologies, but Samsung has done a great job overcoming this. The coating on the display also does a good job controlling reflections, providing the full benefit of those nice deep blacks. I have windows behind me when using my PC and the reflections are very manageable. The monitor is also a very capable smart display, with built-in apps for YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and others, along with excellent wireless screen mirroring and superb Samsung DEX support. There’s even a built-in option to stream Xbox cloud games and directly connect a gamepad. The remote is easy to use and the built-in apps work fine with snappy responses, but I’ve found I prefer to just play content from the connected computer.Connectivity is extensive, with 2 HDMI ports, DisplayPort, headphone audio out, and an actual Ethernet jack. USB ports are provided both for connecting devices like keyboards and gamepads, and for connecting to a PC to act as a USB hub.In my experience, the main negative of this display is that it exhibits some flicker at lower refresh rates. Setting the rate to 120Hz completely resolves the flicker and provides a smoother experience, but not all devices are capable of these high rates in all modes. Depending on view angle, the very bottom of the display (say the bottom 10% of the task bar) also sometimes isn’t as evenly backlit as the rest. The other minor negative is the external power brick, but that’s really just a one time issue during setup.Overall this display combines incredible versatility and app support with a very solid display panel. If you want/need these features, it’s a great option. If all you want is a high quality panel with support for fast refresh rates and VRR, this will fit the bill but the extra features may be overkill. Either way, you should be pleased with the visuals.Pros:- Excellent sharp VA panel combines deep blacks and fast 1ms response time- Super for gaming, very good for productivity if you don’t mind the curve- Excellent stand enables easy adjustment and rotation- Plenty of inputs and support for high end HDMI features like VRR- Broad support for apps and screen mirroring- Works as a USB hub- Good remote and responsive UICons:- Some flicker at lower refresh rates- Backlight very even except very bottom 1-2% of screen depending on view angle- Smart display features might be overkill for some

The Odyssey G6 is a huge step towards modern gaming. The days of 1080p gaming are long gone and Curved monitors are still unfamiliar for most, but 2k resolution with 240hz refresh (FPS)… that’s still completely new for everyone.Everything about the Odyssey G6 is gorgeous straight from the box. The Monitor stand is completely versatile and VESA ready, but honestly the stand is one of the best that I have ever seen come with a monitor. One of the biggest differences is the very wide base of the stand, which is needed to offset the 27” curve from tipping over. Samsung does an incredible job with a skinny base that doesn’t interfere with desktop space. The curved monitor is a bit strange, but less than 5 minutes and you will have adjusted. I’m actually so impressed ... MoreThe Odyssey G6 is a huge step towards modern gaming. Unboxing the monitor was a mix of positives and negatives. On the plus side, the monitor was shipped face down, which meant that assembly was very easy; the box doubled as a safe place to keep the monitor while work was being done. I didn't have to find a flat spot, something to protect the screen, or anything else, while I was putting it together. All the parts and pieces were individually wrapped, and they were all labeled, which was nice, as well as having a QR code. I'm not sure what that was for, but I'm assuming it was possibly for assembly, warranty, or something else. The sticker came off of the wrapping easily, so I didn't have to tear it and potentially ruin important information, had I needed to reference the part name or QR code. On the minus side, the ... I'm not sure what that was for, but I'm assuming it was possibly for assembly, warranty, or something else. The sticker came off of the wrapping easily, so I didn't have to tear it and potentially ruin important information, had I needed to reference the part name or QR code. On the minus side, the instructions for assembly were extremely small and made no reference to any of the individual pieces. Luckily, assembly was intuitive, and I only ended up with 1 leftover piece. The labels on the individually wrapped pieces are also very small. Finally, the monitor came with a DP cable. For those who are familiar with, or expecting, an HDMI cable, like I was, it created an extra step as I felt I needed to look up DP versus HDMI to determine if I was using what came with the monitor, or if I needed to rummage through my cable bin for a spare.Setup was easy, but time consuming. I elected to put the monitor where it was going to be before attaching cables. While there is a cutout for cables to keep them from protruding from the back of the monitor, the black plastic embossed labels were very hard to read when trying to find the correct ports. A redesign to better make the ports, and labels, easier to access and read is probably a good idea. I also appreciated the fact that there is a built-in rubber band to help with cable management, but a better setup would have been to route the cables through the upright portion of the pedestal to fully hid them. Once everything was connected, I easily put the screen into position through its almost-infinite range of motion. Height, side-to-side, and tilt adjustment are very smooth and easy, but I wonder about what happens when the friction brakes wear out and no longer keep the screen where it is. Finally, because this is basically a smart TV, once it's turned on initially, updates are required. Be prepared, as this took quite a bit of time. It reminded me of the old Windows screens that kept a countdown of time remaining, in some cases approaching hours or months. It wasn't that long of course, but it was quite reminiscent. After all updates were made that required WiFi, the remainder of the setup was very straightforward. The included remote control was very helpful, but the volume control wasn't intuitive. It took me a couple of repetitions of muting and unmuting the volume before I realized the button was also a rocker. After using the monitor, I'm quite impressed. I primarily use it for work as a 3rd screen. The over size shows all the information I could ever want. SharePoint sites are in full, and scrolling is kept to a minimum. While in desktop mode however, pictures are very grainy. This could be because most photos and images aren't optimized for a screen of this resolution and size, but it is something to consider. I do like the auto-off feature, which means that when I shut down my main laptop, I don't have to manually turn off the monitor. The built-in streaming video services are handy, too. A quick switch of inputs, and I can do work on another couple of screens while something else plays on the TV. My only complaint is attempting to maximize the eye strain/energy-saving features. If I put optimization on 'high', the screen acts like an old CRT where it becomes false-colored, pixelated, and completely unusable. I had to reset everything to factory to get it back to where I could see things again.Overall, this is a pretty good buy. The footprint isn't that bad for a screen that size, setup was relatively easy, and the performance is what I expected. Depending on what you're looking for in a dual-option monitor, you could do a lot worse.
The Samsung G6 is a great gaming monitor, and an excellent choice for FPS fans or shooters in general for its high refresh rates, quick response that mostly addresses ghosting, and great colors for a VA panel. Seriously, this is great feature I wish more monitors had.Cons:- The menus are a bit finicky at times, often skipping two options with a single click.- The local dimming is sub part at best, better left off.- The Curve on this size of a monitor doesn’t make as big of a difference as it would on a larger monitor or wider format. My Experience - I’ve used the Samsung G6 as my main monitor for a little over a week now and have adjusted well to the curve. Honestly, it’s not as big of an impact as I thought it would be for good or bad. When gaming it does make seeing the full screen a bit easier but with this being a 27in monitor the effects of the curve are not as impactful as when using a wider format screen. The setup was super easy, this thing literally plays music for you while it guides you through the setup process. There is an option to setup via smart phone or remote, I did both through a reset, but both are very streamlined and easy to follow, taking only 10-15mins.The monitor performed amazing while playing Destiny 2 and Fortnite. 240hz frame rate helped keep the game feeling smooth, and setting the response time to Fast really reduced the VA panel ghosting. I would warn that setting the response time to Extreme would result in overshoot, where the image gets too bright or odd color corrections would occur in some cases. I ended up stepping back down to Fast from Extreme as I was getting a headache due to the high contrast. This monitor has local dimming, but for how it performs it is better to just keep it off. The monitor is backlite from the edge, so all local dimming does is cause horribly backlight flickering while playing most games. It’s a feature better left off. To be fair, few monitors in this range and spec do any better so not holding this against the monitor. Conclusion - This is a great monitor to choose as a first try in curved monitor game, but I would suggest getting one of the larger sizes or wider formats if you have the extra budget to fully appreciate the curved monitor experience. Beyond the size, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a curved monitor for gaming as it has the right specs and solves the ghosting issues of traditional VA panels while looking amazing.
Bottom Line: The Samsung Odyssey G6’s curved screen creates an immersive gaming or movie watching experience.Pros: immersive curved screen; 1440p with high refresh rate; great contrast; useful remote control.Cons: light bloom on edges; smart hub might not be for everyone; limited swivel; curved screen not good for productivity.Review: This is my first curved screen monitor, and the curve does create an immersive gaming and viewing experience, especially in games where enemies may sneak up on you from the sides (for example, Resident Evil 3). The 1440p resolution and high refresh rate make this monitor a good choice for gamers who want to step up from 1080p, and the DisplayHDR 600 picture offers very good contrast between bright and dark areas. The 1440p resolution and high refresh rate make this monitor a good choice for gamers who want to step up from 1080p, and the DisplayHDR 600 picture offers very good contrast between bright and dark areas. I’ve been playing Dark Souls a lot lately, and the bonfire looks much brighter than it did on my HDR400 display. Additionally, there was sharp contrast of details on some enemies hiding in the shadows that really stood out. The speakers produce good sound which is on par with what you would expect from a TV this size. For discerning players, the monitor also has an HDMI ARC port and headphone jack. I also like that there is a remote control, which allows one to access the settings without fiddling with the buttons you can’t see under the monitor. The screen isn’t perfect, however, and, as is often the case with edge-lit screens, there is noticeable bloom along the edges. It’s most apparent if the image on the edge is black and you’re viewing the screen in the dark. For me, the Smart Hub (essentially Smart TV-like software) that controls the monitor is a mixed bag. On one hand, it’s convenient to have media apps built-in so one can essentially use the monitor like a TV for media consumption. On the other, like a Smart TV, the monitor treats connected devices like apps inside the hub. The monitor attempts to auto recognize devices, but I find it faster and easier just to navigate to the connected port manually with the remote. Hence, the need to go through the hub could be frustrating for some who just want a simple plug-and-play experience. Last, I find that the monitor does not work well for productivity. The swivel (left and right) is pretty limited, and so it doesn’t work well as a second screen when connected to a laptop because I can’t turn the screen to face me as much as I need it to. Additionally, while the screen is really immersive for content consumption, the curve makes using productivity software and multiple apps awkward.
I have never been a fan of curved monitors however decided to try out this monitor after hearing so many good things about the Odyssey. I am glad that I gave this monitor a chance as I have been very impressed with the quality of the product and the amount of options this monitor has. The monitor was shipped with easy setup that provides both DisplayPort and USB to PC cables. It does NOT provide an HDMI cable however with the 8k DP cable an HDMI cable is not really needed. Out of the box it provides an option to use a stand of wall mount to setup your monitor which was a really nice touch. The software setup was easy to use and provide a nice first time walkthrough for apps and internet setup. There are a ton of apps available for this monitor along with a nice ... The software setup was easy to use and provide a nice first time walkthrough for apps and internet setup. There are a ton of apps available for this monitor along with a nice "Game Mode" feature. The only downside is being unable to uninstall most of the unused apps that come pre-installed. However there is a large app storage space so at least there is room for downloading / installing additional apps that you use. The game mode feature is very nice , allows for great customization on how you wish the play particular games. I believe the best feature is not having to turn on your computer to just surf YouTube or play Spodify music. I have not notice any picture difference between this curve monitor and my other 27in monitor that is not curve. Overall the picture looks great and does not have any dead pixels. I like how the speakers sound on this monitor however wish it was facing front of monitor instead of downward against the desk. Overall, I strongly recommend this monitor for all the features and ease of use it provides.
The Samsung Odyssey G6 27” Curved QHD FreeSync Smart Monitor - Black is a beauty to behold. The sleek Elegance of the curved screen and the thick sturdy form gives confidence in the design principles while being functional at the same time. The curved screen idea really works and I can see that having two identical screens it would be very nice. At the moment I have one curved 27-inch and one flat 27-inch and even one curved screen really helps. It just seems like with two flat screens I am never able to get them at just the right angle. Moving on to the functional characteristics of theb Samsung Odyssey G6 27” monitor I will start off by saying this monitor has a really impressive built in menu. Moving on to the functional characteristics of theb Samsung Odyssey G6 27” monitor I will start off by saying this monitor has a really impressive built in menu. The Samsung smart monitor experience is unlike anything I have ever seen before. During set up you have the option of using the included remote or your smartphone. I chose to use the included remote and it works very well and is quite easy to use with a simple but effective layout. The Samsung smart menu is very thorough and covers everything from Gaming mode to movie mode. It is very detailed and has options that I never though would be included. I am very impressed with Samsungs comprehensive software and I believe they put a lot of effort into the Smart monitor software on the Odyssey G6 27”. Moving on to gaming with the Samsung Odyssey G6 27” smart monitor. I was very surprised and impressed with this monitors gaming capability. The Samsung Odyssey G6 is so smooth and games look very good on the 2560x1440 display along with the high refresh rate of 240Hz really makes a difference. It is hard to explain and I do not know that anyone would be able to understand the difference in performance unless they experienced it in person. I have never owned a monitor with a refresh rate higher than 60Hz so I did not know what to expect. I just knew right away that something was very different regarding gameplay than any other monitor I have used. It is a next level experience that I believe is a combination of the curved screen the high refresh rate and the 2k pixel density. I believe that the 2560x1440 is the ideal pixel density for a 27” gaming monitor. So much so at least for my preferences that I am not sure I would like a larger screen with the same pixel density. I like sharp and defined images especially when gaming. This monitor really brought gaming to a new level for me and I love the curved screen. If you are looking for a good gaming monitor that can also be a TV and serve as a normal computer monitor I do not think you will find a better option than the Samsung Odyssey G6 27” curved QHD Freesync Smart Monitor. This monitor does it all and more!
As a casual console gamer who is new to PC gaming, I recently got my hands on the Samsung Odessey 27” G6 Smart Gaming Monitor, and I must say that so far I’m really liking this thing.Coming from a 65” LG CX in my living room, I really looked into this so I could have decent display to move the gaming to my man cave. I was initially skeptical about only going with a 27” LED monitor because outside of console gaming, I really like to watch movies in my man cave (meaning Picture Quality, screen size & black levels are paramount). However, picture and size concerns were put to rest once I ran the “Smart Calibration” feature with my Galaxy S23 Ultra and experienced just how immersive a curved monitor really is. I would recommend calibration and turning down the sharpness to zero be done immediately because the out of the box settings produce edge ringing and over saturation in the picture. This brings us to black levels. The G6 touts it’s local dimming and contrast enhancement features but there is still a noticeable grayish wash in the darker areas due to zone “blooming”. In terms of panel type, the Samsung Odyssey G6 is a VA LED panel, while the LG CX uses OLED technology. While OLED panels are hands down better in the black level department, the G6 still has amazing contrast due to its sheer nits brightness! I’m also finding that since games are almost always fullscreen, the benefit of the G6’s VA panel over my CX OLED is I get (and I stress to you) INCREDIBLE shadow detail! I played Gears5 on in 4K60 and 1440 @ 120hz on the SeriesX and it was truly a sight to see. I tried to do 4K@120 and it appears the monitor does not support HDMI 2.1. Overall, both panel types have their pros and cons and it really comes down to personal preference. That being said, as a casual gamer who primarily plays on consoles, the Odyssey G6's fast refresh rate of 240Hz and low input lag made a noticeable difference in my gaming experience. However, I would recommend connecting your controller directly to its source device as input lag increases significantly when the controller is connected to the Odyssey Monitor via bluetooth. The monitor's resolution of 1440p also struck a nice balance between fidelity and performance. The only drawback being the poor implementation of Game Mode Auto. The need to manually switch the console resolution & frame-rate in order to restore the monitor to “Movie (Calibrated)” is particularly frustrating. orIn terms of design, the Samsung Odyssey G6 is sleek and modern, with thin bezels and a sturdy stand that make it easy to set up and adjust to the perfect viewing angle. “Core-Light” is an awesome dynamic LED feature located on the back of the monitor and on the speaker area. It can be set to either respond to the in-game action or be used as a customizable ambient mood light when streaming media of. I and make me want to The monitor's built-in cable management system also helped keep my desk clean and organized. Also, Tizen comes in at a close 2nd to Apple as THE best user interface. The landing pages for Gaming, Media, and layout is very clean, easy to navigate, and intuitive.Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung Odyssey G6 to any console gamer looking to make the switch to PC gaming. While it may not have the same screen size as my LG CX OLED, it more than makes up for it with its fast refresh rate, low input lag, and vivid colors. Whether you're playing on an Xbox Series X, Apple TV 4K, or NVidia 3070 graphics card, this monitor is a great choice for enhancing your gaming experience.4.5/5
This Samsung G6 gaming monitor has it all, and everything is well executed, without compromise. The monitor starts as a basic 27" curved display - The curve on Samsung's gaming and consumer monitors is more pronounced than their competitors I've noticed, and much more pronounced than it is on their larger TVs as well. This monitor has it all - In case you're wondering what its capable of -- Smart TV/Screen features: This thing has an included remote and COULD function independent of a PC or console as just a Smart TV with apps using Samsung's "TV Plus" smart TV interface. It even has Samsung's "Gaming Hub" that offers XBOX Game Pass Ultimate streaming and Nvidia GeForce NOW as well as Amazon's Luna gaming service. Those things alone make this a streaming console ... It even has Samsung's "Gaming Hub" that offers XBOX Game Pass Ultimate streaming and Nvidia GeForce NOW as well as Amazon's Luna gaming service. Those things alone make this a streaming console in an all-in-one form factor, even with nothing connected! The connection experience is great. This thing supports 2x HDMI ports and 1x DisplayPort for lots of connectivity options to PCs, docking stations and consoles. I was able to simultaneously connect my XBox, Switch, and DisplayPort-based gaming PC to this screen and it worked flawlessly with all of them. The real star shines with the PC gaming experience - With up to 240Hz refresh rate using FreeSync technology, this thing is not only sharp (QHD/2K resolution is plenty for a 27" screen) but it also makes games look amazing with no tearing or motion blur. This doesn't do it virtually and create a soap-opera effect, it just makes games and consoles that support higher refresh rates look hyper-realistic without the strange effect of virtual alternatives. The other impressive thing about this screen is it's nearly perfect backlighting - No light leak or irregularity, something that I think comes with its HDR600 rating and REALLY dark black point. Colors are quite vivid, but it seems that contrast takes a hit, but what's really happening is that gray point is raised in this configuration but its less useful than higher-ratings of HDR from OLED TVs and the like. This is still great for streaming and gaming where artistically many creators are leveraging darker scenes. This is a table stakes requirement for today's darker media. This is a gaming monitor, but I loved that it was still professional enough looking and matte-black finished to look good on an office desk, but it has some really cool colored lighting and subsequent RGB effects that emanate from the speakers at the bottom and the bezel surrounding the monitor stand (this bezel also emanates light when using the VESA mount adapter for wall-mounted setups where I'm sure the effect is even more interesting. This is a GREAT gaming monitor and a really useful media device also. I highly recommend it as a utilitarian addition to anyone's rig.
