PM981a is great ssd from a reliable brand. With its high read and write speed, you can use this for work and mixed recreational use like streaming and gaming. Additionally, the 512GB is great storage for files and applications that require high usage of CPU and GPU like adobe premiere pro/rendering videos of 720 HD etc. The retail price for such M.2. sticks with this storage capacity is very expensive, so its a pretty much a bargain at this price. With the 3D NAND-TLC for ease of production and using a 1.3 NVME interface, it is lighting fast and has nice endurance for long-term use. It is HIGH UNLIKELY you will find this quality of SSD with at such a price. What are you waiting for?

Have been looking to add a 2nd M.2 for a while but the EVO 960 refused to drop in price - then this drive came onto my radar. It's the first of the new Samsung NVMe SDDs that feature the Polaris V2 controller - the previous drives all feature version 1.End result is both faster write and read, as shown by many online reviews.Comparing it in my own set-up shows that the often reported temperature related issues are non-existent in my set-up and I'm getting all of the performance expected.I'll upload some disk performance stats. The E: drive is for EVO960. The P: drive is for Polaris PM981. You'll see it outperforms the EVO 960 across the board for a lower price.

Very fast SSD. Don't forget it is OEM product so do not expect firmware upgrade from Samsung. And I believe warranty is included with original computer only. Anyway, it is Samsung SSD. So you can expect good quality and great performance.
I bought this when it was £310 and it was a bargain. Even though it's gone up a bit in price it's still a great deal. Quoted speeds are virtually spot on, even using a Windows 10 driver and not a samsung one. It is an oem drive so it won't have a driver update through samsung magician but I sourced my last one for my PM961 through google but as I previously stated the one in Windows 10 works well.I put an EK M.2 heatsink on it (which was a bit tight to fit the retaining clips over due to the chip placement. It fits the EK one but just be careful) to help with the heat and I've never seen it pass the mid 40's Celsius on my rig.Great service yet again from Scan, thumbs up.
Two drive were the 1tb version and the third a 256gb version. They 1tb are faster, but not anything I could notice in day to day usage. Only running Crystal Diskmark on all my drives showed a difference, with all exceeding 3000mbs and the 1tb exceeding 3200mbs. I am very pleased with their quality, 5 year warranty, and performance. Everything is faster, especially Online web pages load instantly. Even the performance of my 5 year old Graphis Card rated better somehow. But that could be due to the new Gigabyte X470 MB and Ryzen 7 2700x 8 Core/16 thread CPU too? Regardless I recommend these drives to any one who's MB supports full M.2 Nvme & PCIe 3.0. These are not the Sata non Nvme versions which are limited to 550-600gps maximum due to the limits of Sata.
Awesome value, cheaper tha the Samsung Evo range but almost identical specification. Works great! Spo much fast than my internal HDD it replaced. Had difficulty cloning and then booting WIn10 with the internal HDD still installed, which I wanted it to be, but this is a Windows issue, not a SDD issue. Got there eventually. Would like to benchmark against an Evo model on my own computer so as to get an comparison of how it would run for me. Online benchmarks impressive but I can match online benchmarks others have posted with any device/part! This is the OEM model Samsung manufacture for hardware brands such as Dell, Lenovo, HP so it's difficult to find the correct drivers though the Win10 drivers seem to work fine. The Samsung drivers and Apps available from Samsung are almost all for the Evo cards & don't detect or work with this model but they don't seem necessart. The cloning software would've been nice but there's heaps available online to download if you don't want to use "dd".
Top speeds and great photo quality. I will say going from a waterproof s8 it is a little hard to adjust. 1 small droplet of water makes my screen go haywire but it is easily fixed by locking the screen drying it and opening it back up.
I will have to admit I was a bit worried at first about purchasing an OEM drive. But this M.2 is perfect for anyone who wants to speed up an aging computer, or move away from spinning disc hard drives. It is a great purchase for the price, and very fast drive with excellent read write speeds. This is OEM is equivalent to the Evo 970 without the price. Stop thinking about it and get it.
