So a preamble: My previous Samsung TV ended up being a write off 4 years after purchasing it after the back light panel stopped on the left hand side. I couldn't find a better value for money TV in this price bracket and decided to spend a little more than I'd originally intended. Got the TV home and plugged it in, very easy to do especially as there is a cable management function at the back to hide all the power and HDMI cables. Turned on the power and... Nothing. Tried to go through all the troubleshooting and nothing changed, the TV was receiving a signal from the remote but the screen was black. Called through to Samsung that night who helped me book a technican out. Since then I've had absolutely no issues with the TV, the picture is bright and vivid, the game and movie modes are fantastic and the menu is extremely responsive and user friendly. Sound is great, we have a sound bar however we don't need it unless we really want that cinematic experience. The remote control is beautifully simple and never needs new batteries as it's solar rechargeable. This TV was the best in its price bracket, with the upgrade on this being the LG C2 which is an extra $1000.

Slick looking TV to look at. QLED had vivid colours out of the box but took a lot of time to calibrate closer to natural colour I like. Contrast not as good as OLED but close. DVDs - excellent, Streaming - good. Sound - impressive without soundbar. TV - good upscaling to UHD. FTA TV tuner - average. Interface is OK and samsung TV (film offering) and many apps is good. Connection at the right (as you look at TV) is annoying. Has enough HDMI, ethernet, optical, USB, aerial points. This TV has a lot of good points but not sure if I'd buy it over OLED again. it's taken me a while to get used to it. I only chose this QLED over LG OLED based on many TV reviews that said only use in dark rooms and watch out for 'burn in' risk. Ideally we’d want the high per pixel contrast of OLED panels, but with the brightness and longevity of LED TVs. Right now, we have to choose between that, but steps are being made in the right direction to get the best of both worlds and this is where Samsung’s Neo QLED line of TVs come in. While Micro-LED displays are still way too expensive for your average consumer, Mini-LED TVs, such as my QN85A, act as a great intermediate for the time being and this really shows in the picture quality. Personally, I use this TV for a range of different media consumption like gaming on consoles, watching movies and even for possibly the most difficult use case, as a 4K 120hz primary computer monitor. I’ve had no issues so far in calibrating the TV for all of this and it honestly looks stunning; I’ve enjoyed the vibrate scenes of Cyberpunk 2077, the inky blacks of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the clarity and uniformity it brings to my programs as a 3D artist. As a bonus, I suspect this TV will last longer than traditional LED TVs as there are more backlights and they aren’t being turned on as frequently due to its smaller local dimming zones. This tackles a problem where backlights slowly turn turn blue with excessive use, keeping your TV more vibrant for longer. Overall, this is the best TV I’ve had and I think anyone could be satisfied with it. I hope that we can see further shrinking of backlights toward Micro-LED TVs and if so, I’d be very excited to see what Samsung has to show going forward.
