A rocky start but a brilliant TV

Got the TV home and plugged it in, very easy to do especially as there is a cable management function at the back to hide all the power and HDMI cables. Turned on the power and... Nothing. Tried to go through all the troubleshooting and nothing changed, the TV was receiving a signal from the remote but the screen was black. Since then I've had absolutely no issues with the TV, the picture is bright and vivid, the game and movie modes are fantastic and the menu is extremely responsive and user friendly. Sound is great, we have a sound bar however we don't need it unless we really want that cinematic experience. The remote control is beautifully simple and never needs new batteries as it's solar rechargeable. This TV was the best in its price bracket, with the upgrade on this being the LG C2 which is an extra $1000.

Connection at the right (as you look at TV) is annoying. Has enough HDMI, ethernet, optical, USB, aerial points. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I feel like there’s a problem with the current options we as consumers have when it comes to buying TVs. Ideally we’d want the high per pixel contrast of OLED panels, but with the brightness and longevity of LED TVs. Right now, we have to choose between that, but steps are being made in the right direction to get the best of both worlds and this is where Samsung’s Neo QLED line of TVs come in. While Micro-LED displays are still way too expensive for your average consumer, Mini-LED TVs, such as my QN85A, act as a great intermediate for the time being and this really shows in the picture quality. Personally, I use this TV for a range of different media consumption like gaming on consoles, watching movies and even for possibly the most difficult use case, as a 4K 120hz primary computer monitor. I’ve had no issues so far in calibrating the TV for all of this and it honestly looks stunning; I’ve enjoyed the vibrate scenes of Cyberpunk 2077, the inky blacks of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the clarity and uniformity it brings to my programs as a 3D artist. As a bonus, I suspect this TV will last longer than traditional LED TVs as there are more backlights and they aren’t being turned on as frequently due to its smaller local dimming zones. This tackles a problem where backlights slowly turn turn blue with excessive use, keeping your TV more vibrant for longer. Overall, this is the best TV I’ve had and I think anyone could be satisfied with it. I hope that we can see further shrinking of backlights toward Micro-LED TVs and if so, I’d be very excited to see what Samsung has to show going forward.

Good picture face on, terrible at angle
2 February 2023

Being the latest Neo QLED technology I was expecting very little light bleed / halo when viewing directly which is not the case. Also to say nothing about the terrible light bleed and grey washout when viewing from >30 deg angle. I did see a model in TV shop but with their looping demo it was hard to see this effect until I got home. Also not a fan of the new Smart TV menu system its not inuitiive how to get to settings etc but its OK once you get the hang. Otherwise when vewing direct on for typical movie/sports it is a very good picture great colour vibrancy and dynamic rnage. I love the battery free solar remote and also the TV generates virtually no heat which is a first and valuable in a small apartment that gets very hot in summer with afternoon sun ! 4 HDMI ... MoreBeing the latest Neo QLED technology I was expecting very little light bleed / halo when viewing directly which is not the case. Great Picture!!

I bought the 55 inch QN85B about two weeks ago. Still familiarising myself with it as it has a lot more features than my old non-smart T.V. I wish I bought it now as there's a far better sale on at the moment and with the soundbar, I would have saved another $400. The T.V has a great picture and excellent brightness. It was easy to install and cables ran down via the stand thing so they are hidden which I like. In the shop the TV was next to an LG OLED which was only $200 more. When the credits were on the OLED looked like it had zero blooming whereas the Samsung had obvious blooming. I don't generally watch the credits so it didn't bother me. They hand some animated gold rings in the movie they were displaying and on the OLED they looked a really fake yellow. The ... MoreI bought the 55 inch QN85B about two weeks ago. I don't know if that's the TV or the movie but now I have the Samsung at home with no other TV'S next to it, the picture is great and I'm very happy with it.

Great install process, right from opening the box
10 July 2022

We upgraded from a 65 in curved Samsung TV to the 85in NEo QLED. It is just wow. Such a big screen and so clear, bright and great resolution. We are deliberately finding movies to watch in 4K because it is just so awesome. The other thing that was great was the thought taken in the packaging and installation process. This is a BIG TV and it could be a marriage breaker trying to get it out of the box and in place on the tv unit !!! But the whole box and supporting foam, youtube video and well thought out process was very easy. The foam has clever cutaways to allow you to install the stand while the TV is still in it's box / foam supports. Then you can just simply lift up and out, and onto the tv unit. Brilliant.

Great quality picture
12 January 2023

I bought this TV a month ago and I am very happy with the features. All the Apps that I use are there. Connects directly to external devices, though I had to setup my sound bar again in the SmartThings app as the volume was not as effective once connected to the HDMI ARC connection. User manual was very lacking as being new to the Samsung interface I could not find or access a full TV guide and this required a call to Customer service, who were very helpful. Overall the TV is amazing, great picture and sound with a Samsung Sound Bar is mind blowing. I looked at lots of televisions before making this purchase and from what is available, this television was next level. I am very happy with the TV and it excels with streamed movies.

We have a open living room with sliding glass doors all around so that’s the reason for buying the Neo Qled instead of a Oled tv, it’s brighter. My new Samsung QN85B Series 4K Neo QLED 75” TV
8 March 2023

I bought a QN85B Series 4K Neo QLED 75” TV in Jan 2023. To replace my 12 year old Samsung 1080p full HD 46” TV. My old Samsung 46” TV is still a very impressive TV for its age and era and I’ve kept it and use it in my study now. I was after a larger screen size for our bigger lounge room so decided to go shopping for a new TV. I got stuck trying to decide between the QN85B Series 4K Neo QLED 75” and 85”. Ultimately the decision was based on there being a nice in-store discount on the 75” inch model. So I went with the 75” model. And now having gone from a 46” screen size to a 75” screen

One can never have enough screen size in a TV and TV’s are an item one doesn’t upgrade every day, so when upgrading, always go for the largest screen size one can afford at the time. And just choose Samsung as the brand. I’ve spent many hours researching and reviewing all the TV brands and in my opinion (and from past experience owning Samsung TV’s) Samsung make the worlds best TV’s. They are at the top of the TV manufacturers list. (By the way
.my previous 12 year old 46” Samsung 1080p LCD TV
..never missed a beat and still operates perfectly and the screen is just as sharp and bright as the day I bought it. With no ‘screen burn-in’ whatsoever).

Projector to LCD (QLED) upgrade

I like watching TV and movies, and the occasional PC gaming. My Epson 1080p projector globe blew, I have gone thru 3 during its lifetime. My projector worked great in my old home, but due to ambient lighting the vibrancy of the picture had decreased a lot. Now that LCD tv's have increases in viewing size I looked at options (Within my price range.) After looking at 85' TV screens side by side my overall result being the 85'QN85B. The vibrancy of the picture (Even with lots of outside light) was truly awesome. What made the deal sweeter was they also had a 15% off if you purchased a soundbar. Soundbar: +ve bluetooth to stream from my Samsung S22 to soundbar. -ve for the Samsung Q600B soundbar to look good needed some rubber feet to raise the soundbar to go over the Center located TV stand. This closes the gap and hides the HDMI and Power cables. What would be nice to include. A USB extender cable to secure/stick/Velcro to the side for USB and USB-C storage devices, maybe even a card reader for pictures to use.
