It was about $4000 at the time but we had another lower end 65" Samsung OLED that we really liked (we also have 3 different computer monitors in various sizes) so we thought we would take the plunge and get this. Also, there weren't as many negative reviews for this model as there are now when we were researching TV's at the time. The sound was horrible out of the box but the picture was excellent. After a couple of months the remote stopped working so we got another one. Fast forward tor March 2024 and the the TV just shut itself off while we were watching it. We went through the troubleshooting info online and it wouldn't turn back on. Contacted Samsung CS and they sent an authorized repair company out. The repair company charged us $140 for the visit, he tried to replace the motherboard (which would have cost an additional $650) and that didn't fix it. The repairman told us the problem was the panel and that would require 2 people to replace so with labor and everything that would cost us $2450 with a 90 day warranty. We refused to pay $2450 to repair a $4000 TV that lasted 15 months/3 months out of warranty. Samsung offered to give us 10% off on a QN90C 2023 model (which seems to be a step down from ours) and they refused to give us any discount on the new 2024's that are out. So moral of the story - pay the extra for the 2 or 4 year extended warranty on your expensive Samsung TV or buy another better reviewed brand with a better warranty like we just did this past weekend. Thanks Samsung - we have to figure out how to recycle this 85" brick now. We won't be buying anymore TV's or monitors from you again or recommending you to anyone.

Great TV, Cable Management System is Hideous

The TV itself and picture quality is excellent, as you would expect from the flagship model (for Australia anyway) 4K Neo QLED Series of TV. However, the cable management system is atrocious. The concept seems great, but execution of the concept is horrible. Firstly there are only 4 channels to physical run individual cables along and into the TV stand (exit point), yet there are 7 possible inputs (4x HDMI, 2x USB and 1x Coax), that's 7 cables. Then you have the power cable on the other side of the TV. This makes a total of 8 possible cables fitted to the TV with only 4x channels in which to run them. And then, only one of those 4x channels is big enough to fit any quality/thicker cables, but this channel needs to be used for a Coax cable due to its large 'standard' thickness. So this leaves 3x channels useless if you have decent quality HDMI cables (cheaper thin cables will fit, but only 3 cables, if you use all 4 HDMI inputs as I do you're out of channels to run cables through). On top of all this, the gap in the TV stand to channel cables through and down behind the TV cabinet is so small you're lucky to get 3 cables through it (including power cable and Coax leaving room for one HDMI/USB cable). Any more than 3 cables and the TV stand cover will not fit/click back into place. The whole cable management system is useless. Needless to say, I am not using the cable management system at all, rather a series of Velcro straps to hold cables up and out of the way so they can't be seen from the front of the TV. In saying that though, with a decent Sound Bar like the Q990B, C, or D in place there is little chance to see underneath and behind the TV anyway. Probably why little to no effort was put into the design and practical testing of the Cable Management System...lol.Overall it's a great TV (let’s hope it lasts longer than my 2022 QN95B, went through two of them in 15 months, why I'd also recommend getting extended warranty if you have the option), but as for the cable management system, Samsung, fire the designer and use the One Connect Box on more models (loved it on the QN95B). Oh, and for the love of god, get rid of all the streaming channel buttons from the remote and bring back the 'TV/Source' button. Besides the power, volume and channel buttons, it's the next most used/useful button.

The only downside is the current lack of support for iPlayer.Picture Quality:The picture quality is excellent, with deep blacks and vivid colours that really make content pop. It shines with high quality source material, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how good the upscaling is for older content too. The main standout though is daylight performance, even in a well lit room with predominantly dark scenes, you still really enjoy and discern the onscreen action.Sound Quality:The sound is amazingly loud and crisp for such a thin TV, and really makes the most of the excellent speakers you see on the back. I haven’t had to go above 15 on the volume yet!Summary:Overall, the Samsung QN95D is highly recommended for anyone looking for a best-in-class TV experience, with daylight performance that has to be seen to be believed.

Then a single cable from that goes to your TV and keeps everything neat.Getting the TV up and running and set up with Satellite tuning takes only a few minutes using the on screen instructions and QR code. I prefer certain settings with my TVs with how colours and motion look so I spent some time on YouTube with 8K and 4K HDR videos as well as movie trailers to get things exactly the way I want.First impressions were just how BRIGHT this thing was. It's over and above my 2018 OLED in terms of brightness and on par with a flagship OLED we have in another room.It took me a few goes to get my settings to "stick" as a few of the quick and easy TV modes will set things back to defaults, but with a bit of trial and error I got the hang of what I could and couldn't change without it changing other settings. I'm not a fan of motion processing and I quite like film grain so some of those advanced settings I turned off entirely. However some of the automatic HDR and colour/contrast settings are definitely worth having on so there's enough in there to be really precise about how you want things to be set up. And if you just want to go with some "out of the box" settings then those are really easy to use.One thing that was immediately obvious was how much better the sound was over our old OLED TV. There is significantly more body to the sound and arguably you dont HAVE to go and buy a soundbar for this TV, unless you really want one.I can honestly say that the Samsung QLED looks amazing, and is a big upgrade over our older OLED TV. As a living room TV it makes the cartoons the kids watch on YouTube look fantastic, and then when switching to our streaming service apps that we installed directly from the Smart TV features, those look brilliant too.Samsung Neo QLED 8K has been a massive upgrade to our living room viewing. I tend to keep living room TVs for 5-10 years at a time and this has us covered for a long time to come with the 8K screen and every other modern feature you want. Buy with confidence!

Superb picture quality and array of apps
28 May 2024

First of all I should state that my comparison for this review is our previous 10 year old Samsung TV and, as you would expect, this totally blows it out of the water. Obvious things first, the TV is super skinny and if mounted with the matching Slim Fit mount will look amazing on the wall. For such a slim TV the sound is surprisingly good with a fair bit of bass when watching films although no where near as good as if a soundbar is used. The picture is sharp and colourful, the blacks are dark and there is no glare. Viewing angles are also superb. A good party trick is the upscaling of of SD channels to not so quite HD but good enough not to annoy me when no HD channel version is available. There are the usual streaming apps and well as Samsung's free TV service ... MoreFirst of all I should state that my comparison for this review is our previous 10 year old Samsung TV and, as you would expect, this totally blows it out of the water. There are the usual streaming apps and well as Samsung's free TV service and there are a plethora of channels that I've never heard of but a re quite entertaining. There's also a fitness app with plenty a free training videos. Yes, most are pulled from free streaming services but they are well catalogued which saves endless scrolling (and getting distracted). I have a Galaxy Smart watch that will also transmit the fitness tracking directly on to the screen. On to the things that might not be so obvious, the interactivity between other Samsung devices is amazing. There is picture in picture with my phone so I can have a workout on one half of screen and sport of the other. Or, a program on one side or your cameras on another - if you live in a house so big it's long way to the door and are waiting for guests :) Speaking of cameras, you have full control of the house's smart devices via the SmartThings app, so you can control your heating, turn lights and appliances on/off and any other things else that might integrate.Inputs on the back are plentiful with HDMI, USB and e-ARC and a special shout out to the remote which has a mini solar panel on the back and can be charged via USB C (no more scrabbing around for batteries when they run out!).All in all a great all-rounder (even has a gaming mode that I have yet to try). Amazing as a TV (which what 90%) but take the time to deep dive and you will be astounded as to what this product has to offer.

We purchased the Samsung Neo QLED 8K QN800D 75-inch from the Samsung website. Once it arrived, we were impressed with the unboxing and our initial impressions of the model were positive, we both love how slim line it is. It took both of us to unbox and set it up, considering it’s a 75-inch it’s a lot lighter than older 75-inch TV’s, which is what you’d expect of modern technology, lighter, bigger, better! It was easy to mount with the stand that was included and to set up the ‘One Connect Box’, with just one cable for all of the connections and comes with two cables, a short one if you want to rest the box on the back of the stand or a long one in case you wish to place it further away from your TV. It comes with 2 remotes, standard remote and a new solar powered ... MoreWe purchased the Samsung Neo QLED 8K QN800D 75-inch from the Samsung website. It comes with 2 remotes, standard remote and a new solar powered remote that charges with indoor light, so best to rest it solar panel up when not in use. The Infinity One Design with its nearly bezel-less screen looks great on the stand, however, we will be looking to mount it on the wall for all angle viewing and free up our countertop space. As a Hard of Hearing person, I was most anticipating the sound quality! So as soon as it was turned on we tested the sound quality and I was impressed. At the moment I am still using subtitles when available but after a bit more of a sofa drive, I will see if the sound has more clarity than our last TV.The picture is amazing, vivid colours and sharp details. The screen is anti-reflection which is a must for us our TV is in the sunniest place in the kitchen dinner, right by the sliders! And it works well.Samsung Neo QLED was a perfect choice for us for our kitchen diner as it links up with our American style family hub fridge! We have the Smart Things app, so it was easy to log in and register our new tv.This is not just a TV it’s an entertainment system all on one! Fitness & gaming for instance and you could immerse yourself all day discovering all the features. We’ve had it up and running for a week already so there is still a lot more to explore.

This model elevates the standard for premium televisions, ensuring that every cinematic moment is rendered with unparalleled clarity and vividness.Design and Build QualityThe QN900D boasts a sleek and modern design that seamlessly integrates into any living space. Its ultra-slim profile and nearly bezel-less display enhance the visual experience, making it feel as though the content is floating in mid-air. The Quantum Dot technology utilized in this model ensures that colors are vibrant and true to life, while the minimalist stand offers stability without distracting from the screen.Display and Picture QualityAt the heart of the QN900D is its breathtaking 8K resolution, which delivers four times the detail of 4K and an astounding sixteen times that of Full HD. With a staggering pixel count of 33 million, every frame is packed with detail, allowing viewers to see textures and nuances previously unseen. The Neo QLED technology employs Quantum Mini LEDs, which provide precise control over brightness and contrast. This results in stunning HDR performance, with deep blacks and dazzling highlights that make dark scenes come alive.Samsung’s Quantum HDR 32X technology further elevates the viewing experience by optimizing brightness and contrast on a scene-by-scene basis. The result is a dynamic range that captures the full spectrum of colors, making everything from blockbuster films to nature documentaries visually captivating.Smart Features and User InterfacePowered by Samsung’s Tizen operating system, the QN900D offers a user-friendly interface that makes navigating apps and content a breeze. With access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+, viewers can enjoy a plethora of content at their fingertips. The Smart Hub feature intelligently organizes content, while Samsung’s Bixby, Alexa, and Google Assistant compatibility ensures that voice control is just a command away. The TV also supports multiple gaming features, including AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, making it an ideal choice for gamers seeking an immersive experience. The dedicated Game Bar offers quick access to settings and information, enhancing gameplay without interrupting the action.Audio PerformanceWhile the visual prowess of the QN900D is undoubtedly impressive, the audio performance does not lag behind. The Object Tracking Sound Pro technology utilizes built-in speakers to create a 3D audio experience that follows the action on-screen, immersing viewers in soundscapes that complement the stunning visuals. The CaveatDespite its numerous accolades, the QN900D is not without its faults. One notable downside is the brief delay that occurs when commercials come on, where the TV momentarily goes dark for a second. This can be slightly jarring, especially during intense viewing moments, but it’s a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of a television that excels in nearly every other aspect.ConclusionIn summary, the Samsung 85” Class QN900D Series Neo QLED 8K Smart Tizen TV (2024) is a remarkable piece of technology that redefines what home entertainment can be. With its stunning 8K resolution, cutting-edge Neo QLED display, and a host of smart features, it’s an investment that promises to enhance your viewing experience for years to come. While the momentary delay during commercials can be a minor annoyance, the overall performance and picture quality far outweigh this small drawback. For those seeking the pinnacle of television technology, the QN900D is undeniably a top contender.
