I use the 1 Tb 970 PRO on an ASUS ROG STRIX Z370 - E motherboard. The hardware installation is simple - just plug it into a M.2 socket and attach with one screw. Don't forget a spacer that is supplied separately with the motherboard and that places the drive parallel with the motherboard. Upgrading to M.2 NVM has been a horrible experience for me. I'm going to have to reach out to Samsung for a replacement but would prefer a refund of $197.00. The EVO and Pro are compatible with Catalina. B&H was great at exchanging the EVO Plus for the PRO version.I'm very pleased with my purchase and B&H is my go to place.

The Samsung Pro PCIe came in and it was nicely packaged, once opened I was able to install it myself and it is much faster than the one, I had. I am going to upgrade my other computer since I do video editing on the other computer, and this is what I need. I've had this memory for over a year, and it has been working well. I do not think I will buy any other brand. It has been working great, so I'll keep it in mind on my next upgrade.
Already had an Intel Optane 900p 280 GB, which is very fast, especially when copying lots of small files.The Optane is connected directly to the 9900K CPU for now.I connected the 970 Pro 512 GB to the Chipset M2M port, then copied over all my games to the 970 Pro.The games (Witcher 3, Assassins Creed Odyssey) load a little slower (1 or 2 seconds) on the 970 Pro. However, the Chipset should be slower than direct to the CPU.Overall, both NVMe drives are much faster at loading than Sata SSDs.Optane is much much better for durability. Games can always be reinstalled, and are less important than personal videos, music, and pictures, so my suggestion is do what I did. Get an Optane drive for the boot drive and the Samsung or equivalent for games only.
I installed this Samsung 970 Pro m.2 SSD drive into an HP ZBook G3 17. Seems to work very well after several days. My system used to take over 9 minutes to boot from a cold start. It now is totally ready in about a minute and 45 seconds. I'm not sure if this HP takes full advantage of the drive, but it is a great improvement.I used Active@ Disk Image software rather than the Samsung supplied software to transfer my files. I saw others used similar products for the transfer.The problem I saw was that the Samsung transfer software ran on top of my regular Windows installation and it fairly cautioned me that any running programs (locked files) would not be copied. This thing runs so fast your windows will boot up faster than you can force your pc off by unplugging the power input. 7 gigs in data transfer both in reading and in writing isn't just for commercials, it's real, I tested it myself. I've had this hottie for a few weeks now and oh, people, it's amazing. Yeah 500 gigs might be a little eh in terms of space but the speed.. THE SPEED FELLAS. Games run and switch super fast, temperatures are remarkably low, and not a single failure so far. Glad we're getting back to parallel data lanes over serial.That said, and I'll be honest, having used a Revodrive X2 for the past 7 years, I haven't quite managed to see any significant "real-world" difference with app loading and windows booting etc, but numbers speak for themselves (see attached photo - 970 Pro on left, Revodrive in middle, normal WD Gold 2TB HDD on right).
