I love it. Ive had a few different ones through the years. No issues at all. I game competitively, and the refresh rate is great even with not being the high end models so I can only imagine how great those are. The only thing I have that I could complain about is the buttons will stop working on the back, and the only way to fix it is the good ole love tap in the area. Usually LED will be out too which will come back on with the tap. I usually use it as a notification that the buttons work again. But that's a small complaint because they turn themselves on and off when the detect (or dont) an input. I gave an 8 out of 10 for that reason, and the little fact my models don't have speakers. Not a huge deal, I use a headset and I was aware of that when I bought them, ... MoreI love it. Ive had a few different ones through the years. No issues at all. This helps improve the appearance of motion by reducing persistence blur, and unlike many monitors, you can customize its flicker to your liking, so you can fine-tune it to something you like.It has FreeSync support and is also G-SYNC compatible, which is useful if you have an NVIDIA graphics card.Anything else? I was initially frustrated with this monitor because I could not get my computer audio to disconnect from the monitor's speakers which give kind of not-so-great sound. I called Samsung support and was told sorry, you *have* to use the monitor's speakers. That turned out to be completely inaccurate information. I found out how to switch from the Intel Display Audio to the computer's RealTek speakers or to an audio out from the computer. But please note that the Monitor does have a 3.5 mm stereo output for an external speaker by the way. I find the picture quality to be pretty good. All said and done, now that I have the audio setting sorted out, I am happy with this monitor. Some reviewers seemed unsatisfied with the picture quality, but I find it to be fine. I think this monitor is ok for a work monitor. I must express this .This monitor is not recommended for gaming, for one the monitor does not support motion blur reduction. When using freesync the response time cannot be changed and the response time is automatically set to standard. This makes the ghosting visible, disorientating and sometimes nauseating. When freesync is off and the monitor is set to fastest response time it looks fine, until you play a game. There is a sharp tone that appears when images a moving on the screen and a small not very noticeable after a while ghosting. This can be overlooked since it does clear up the screen some what, aslo enabling gamemode does not help this issues. The lack of back-light strobing and MBR makes it hard to use. I planned to use this to screen mirror my iPad through a Roku streaming stick to ease eye strain. There is considerable lag in the response time, especially when using my wireless mouse. I wonder if the “FreeSync” would change the lag time, but it seems to already be built-in and activated out-of-the-box? It’s also time-consuming to get start. Using a TV, AirPlay automatically turns on the TV, but for this monitor, the monitor must be started manually and there’s no dedicated on/off button, so I’ve got to use the one little button on the bottom center edge of the monitor — and I can barely figure it out — and instructions regarding how to work that button didn’t come in the box. The tilt of the monitor is not enough for eye comfort. I wedged in a tile underneath the ... MoreI planned to use this to screen mirror my iPad through a Roku streaming stick to ease eye strain. The tilt of the monitor is not enough for eye comfort. I wedged in a tile underneath the base to tilt the monitor upward to a more comfortable viewing level. Also, using AirPlay with the TV, I could send the picture to the monitor and the sound to a speaker other than the TV, but with this monitor, the picture and the sound always go to monitor. In retrospect, this monitor really is not adequate for this particular task; I should have bought a TV for this task instead.
I bought this screen 6 years ago and have used it daily since then. I've only used HDMI until very recently because my gpu didn't have a DP, but when upgrading I decided to use DP instead and got a new cable for it.To my surprise the first time I tried to use the DP the screen was blinking. I thought it was just the drivers to the new gpu that needed updating, so I did that, and the blinking on and off went away but instead I got a very glitchy field an inch or two thick at the bottom of the screen! It didn't go away after turning the screen on and off once, but when changing to a different source and leaving it there for a minute or two until it seemed to have gone away I went back to the DP source. There was still a pixel or two thick glitch all along the bottom of the screen and it started growing again so once more I changed to an unused source and had to wait. After I finally fixed that I decided to play games, but in the middle of the session everything black suddenly turned blue instead but was fixed after turning the screen off and on again, but it happened again and it kept happening every time I tried to play any sort of game. The glitching also returned every time I started up the computer.I tried two other cables but nothing helped. In the end I came to the conclusion that the D-port on the screen must be defective and I'm a bit bummed over discovering it after the HDMI ports have worked perfectly for over 6 years.
This monitor has everything you would expect in one plus everything that you wouldn't. The first time I sat down after installation, first of all it was the first time I had connected a monitor with HDMI and that was so convenient. Then I powered my PC on and was blown away after pressing the auto picture feature. It was the most beautiful I have ever seen my display on my PC in my entire life, and I work hard on my PC for the overall imaging solution. I used to have to put so much processor output into my graphics just so those rinky dink monitors could keep up with what I was running, but not Samsung's amazing piece of tech. Seeing what else it could do that I had missed out on by using the competitors useless devices. Not anymore, because Samsung has a new lifelong customer. Thank you Samsung for showing me what is really going on. For you out there that have any doubts about this product or any of Samsung's other technologies. Trust me when I say that I've been using this stuff since the early 90's. I used to be a technology product specialist for Circuit City. I knew they were out there and I'm sorry it took me this long to actually try it for myself after all the amazing things that I've heard. It's all true. Amazing product backed by an amazing company. You've got to get something of Samsung's and try it. You won't be sorry.
The pros of this Samsung monitor - 4K resolution (it really looks great) and Thunderbolt connection - what I thought would be perfect for my Mac Studio. That is all, because:I have had nothing but issues out of the box with the monitor screen freezing, the menus remaining fixed on the display with no way to make them disappear, outside of unplugging the monitor, because, in addition, the power and setting buttons absolutely do not work when either of these scenarios occur. And it's not sometimes but nearly EVERY TIME I use my system - no exaggeration... No firmware updates have been available since I purchased the monitor in June of 2023. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.
I mainly use this monitor for work - sometimes personal. This replaced two 24" monitors and what a beautiful site to have no gap in the middle anymore. And the curved nature of the monitor reduced the amount of head turning I need to do which is helpful for me personally. The screen is crisp, clear, and clean. It comes with a lot of options to change the look (e.g. brightness, color depth, energy saving, eye saver, etc.). Nothing was mentioned in the description but there are speakers in this monitor! The annoying thing, though, is you control the volume via the multi dial in the back corner which to me is not convenient. But the speakers sound good and may eliminate my Creative Pebbles for more desk space.I have played games (e.g. Torchlight 3) and it was ... MoreI mainly use this monitor for work - sometimes personal. But the screen is big enough to have an area for chatting, your game screen, etc. I am not an avid gamer so for what I do the monitor was very responsive. For work, this monitor is amazing! I cannot believe how much easier it is to do things with one large monitor screen. Especially copying and pasting between apps. And if needed, I can open an app full screen - I am a scheduler so files with a lot of columns can be viewed with less scrolling.Overall, this is a monitor I highly recommend!
