If you're looking for an extreme wide-angle lens this is an excellent choice for the price. The lens feels solid and well made... much more than you'd expect. The images are extremely sharp provided you've focused correctly (the focus confirmation helps with this) and the depth of field is forgiving enough to achieve focus fairly easily. Images are slightly distorted if you are focusing up close but this can be easily fixed in post with Photoshop or Lightroom. I use this for landscape and architectural photography on my D600 and absolutely love it. Highly recommended!

It's almost impossible to find a wide angle lens with excellent corners for under $2000 but this lens does it. It does have minor ca and vignetting but its sharper than the 18mm ziess straight across,better than Nikon and Canon primes and has less CA s. If you are a landscape photographer then yes I would highly recommend it.

When I switched from Nikon to Pentax, I knew the one focal length I would have trouble covering is wide angle... Pentax simply doesn't have any full frame wides. The only viable option is the Pentax 15-30mm which is an exceptional lens, but it's expensive and doesn't take filters. I need a relatively inexpensive wide for landscape and long exposure work. The Rokinon has performed really well. Even wide open at 1.8 it was sharper than I expected. At f/5.6 through f/11 it's been fantastic. Corners, edges, mid frame and center have all been great. It's built well (doesn't feel shoddy) and the threads easily take my Formatt-Hitech filter adapter. The one area I haven't tested yet is astrophotography re: coma. I then compared it to my Canon 17-40mm f/4 zoom at 20mm. At wide open (f/1.8 vs. f/4), the corner sharpness, though not particularly sharp, was better than the zoom. Central sharpness was not dramatically different. When compared at f/4, the Rokinon was clearly better, especially in the corners; but the Canon zoom still put up a good performance except for the extreme corners. While I didn't do a lot of comparisons at smaller apertures, I'd would say it seemed to be pretty much a horse race. On both my Canon 5D MKII and Canon 5Ds, metering was not accurate. It tended to overexpose at smaller apertures and increasingly underexpose when increasing the aperture (although that behavior wasn't exactly linear). The behavior was the same in either Manual or Aperture Preferred. I found a few similar complaints on the web; but since this is a relatively new lens, there isn't much user experience out there. Also, this may only be a Canon issue. The only theory I can concoct is maybe the metering algorithm, lacking the actual f-number, gets a bit befuddled regardless that it should only care about the actual light entering.I bought this lens only for astrophotography, so the exposure issue doesn't matter to me. For that purpose, I give it a 4-star rating (less one star for the exposure issue). For general photography, the lack of autofocus and potentially an exposure issue, I recommend you spend the extra bucks for a fully automatic lens.
This lens has good image quality and seems well built. It feels slightly large on a mirrorless camera and could be a little wider; but for the price, it's great.
I love this lens. It's so easy to focus for landscapes and doesn't nudge easily which is a plus. I used it once for astrophotography and it performed excellently. I stopped down to 2.2 for less coma on the edges. Sunsets are stunning as well. It's a keeper!
For less the price of other brands. Pretty sure it will do really great this coming milkyway season.
I used this lens all day on a Pentax K1. For those who haven't used K-mount Rokinons it acts like an A lens. It gives a nice wide FOV for locations where foot zooming back is not possible. It provided high-contrast and sharp images. I was manual focusing with the illuminated AF pts in the OVF as confirmation. This worked very well and accomplished fine focus. Mostly indoors in ambient light with shutters under 1/20 and SR turned on. Sr worked very well but a 20mm isn't hard to hand hold in any case. I haven't tried landscape or astro-photography yet but I like what I've seen so far.
