It basically replaced by 28-75 f2.8, 70-200 f4, and 35 f1.8. Yes, it's heavier and larger than any of them BUT this is physics. So don't complain about gravity and appreciate you have so much flexibility in your hands at once. Regarding some comments about its AF, it's fast. Not lightning fast but fast enough for everything you're even gonna shoot. Let's be honest, if you miss a shot using a modern camera such as A7 III or later and this lens it speaks more about your skills as photographer than the gear you use ... just be honest with yourself.

Love it so far. Manual focus is super smooth and I find it quite easy to nail focus using S1H and built in monitor. Used it hand held for 6+ hours for a concert and I felt it the next day 😂 but that is the reality of the lens and I'm ok with that. Range is great, the lens is sharp and feels super solid, no complaints so far. Will update in 6-12 months.

It is a heavy lens and it might be a drag to your arms or back. after a while, I noticed it on my back, especially when you also carry a flash on top of the camera. Even with these cons is, still a great lens to have and use.

I do mostly video, so I'm not as much a pixel peeper as most photographers, but the photos look great to me. Took it to a friends wedding (just as a guest) and got some of the best shots of the night. Love the 35-150 range. I do a lot of concert shooting, and have the Sony 70-200 f4 that looks nice, but I was really missing the f2.8 for separation. This won't get me quite as tight, but I'll take the look that this lens gives over an extra 50mm (for way less than the Sony 70-200 f2.8). Pro: AffordableCon:1. Image quality is worse than most lenses I have used. Soft and blurry while using above F4 at any light condition.2. Made cheap and feel cheap as well. The zooming tube slides down while holding camera vertically since there's no lock bottom to be designed.3. Focus failure 2 out of 10. Higher than any other lens I have.4. White balance is way too blue. Might be lenses coating issue. Thank Adobe it's not hard to adjust.5. One year warranty from Samyang which means the manufacturer has also been worried about its durability and longevity while any other brands offer at least 3 years warranty.Conclusion:You'll get what you pay for. It was designed for photography lovers not for pros.
This lens is amazing for photo and video on my Sony cameras. When Photographing an event you hardley need to change lenses as this has a vast range of distance. A quality build, and beautiful images/footage that the glass punches out is just top notch. I love It.Well done Samyang!

Reports I've read and watched on the E-mount version (months old now) said that lens creep was an issue right out of the box. That's not happening with my copy so far. Maybe Samyang got the message and tightened things up.- The overall fit and finish is nice for the price. Yes, most L-mount lenses have this feature but I wasn't sure if this Samyang would and that's good news.- Lens Testing Details:My SL2 was tripod mounted, using electronic shutter, ISO 100, ibis off, 2 second self timer, the best of two test photos selected at each setting, viewed at 300% on my 27 5K iMac. The photos were taken outdoors with soft overcast lighting with my standard targets at approximately 60 feet in distance.I tested the 35, 50, 85, 100, 135 & 150 focal lengths wide open and then at full stops down to f/11. All the focal lengths were very usable wide open with a noticeable improvement at the next full stop down. The optimum aperture was f/5.6 throughout. At 85-150mm the far corners did a little better at f/8 but that did give away a bit of diffraction softening in the central zone but not much. F/11 did soften the photos overall from diffraction but they still looked very good to me. The right and left sides looked equally sharp so I think I got a good copy.So resolution and contrast are really very good, better than I had hoped for. A subsequent sunny day test showed CA is very well controlled and lens flare behavior is OK-average for my zooms. Overall I think the Samyang 35-150 for L-mount is a great value and an outstanding choice if you can deal with the physical size and weight. If you can handle the Leica SL 24-90 comfortably then the Samyang will be a similar handful. BTW, I own the 24-90 and did compare those two lenses at 35, 50, and 85-90. In terms of resolution and contrast my two copies tested out essentially equivalent. The Leica was a little stronger at 35mm, 50mm was a push, and the Samyang was a little better at the 85-90 focal lengths.

It truly did feel like I had the proverbial bag full of primes in one lens. Autofocus was good, build quality was good, loved the mf/af switch, and it's a nice looking lens. Unfortunately, it has an achilles heel that eventually made me request a return. The lens is uber susceptible to ugly flaring and ghosting when shooting around sunrise/sunset. Very noticeable multiple bright green dots across the frame, plus big unsightly multi-coloured flare blobs. It almost ruined an engagement shoot I did before I was fully aware of the problem. You have to be very careful with the angles and the position of the sun, but it is doable, especially if you use a hat or something to provide some extra shading beyond what the lens hood replies. But for a wedding photographer who is often shooting can't miss moments, or doesn't have a lot of time to deal with lighting issues - I just couldn't convince myself it was a good idea to move forward. It's a shame, and I'm honestly a little heartbroken - because this felt like a lens almost felt like a fairytale. Prime-like image quality, fast aperture, huge zoom range. Something you could truly leave on your camera and get rid of almost everything else in your bag.
I just used this lens for the first time photographing a wedding and it performed perfectly. It was very sharp and the autofocus didn't miss a beat. The weight takes a little time to get used to but it's worth it being able to get so many different shots with one lens.I've heard that some people get bad copies of this lens but luckily I got a good one. That's the main reason I got it from B&H and not Amazon. I trust B&H more so to have a good copy.
I also have the Tamron version. Lens quality is absolutely on par with build and image quality. This lens is sharp and crisp. My main prime is a 50mm 1.4 Zeiss planner. When shooting both near 2.0, images are sharper with the Samyang. I could not be happier.
