Great lens. Focus and aperture rings are nice and weighted, came with a handy carry pouch. Obviously not the greatest lens out there, but for the price the quality is high and makes for a great stills/video lens.Would recommend for anyone on a budget looking for a pro-level lens without the pro-price.

It is the world best fisheye-lens for FE mount, manual focus is not an issue, built quality is top notch for its price and result for 180 degree wide angle range its ridicolous. This lens if your a videographer is killer! With my A7S it's just epic!! Super sharp but with nice character! The focus and aperture rings are buttery smooth and the thing is built like a tank! But beautiful at the same time! The 85mm T1.5 (1.4 equivalent) is the go to portrait lens! I got this for 200 as I said in the title you seriously can't get better for the money!! And manual focus is what I use for video on follow focus and rig so yes!!....Just buy one!!

I was specifically in the market for an 85mm cinema lens, preferably to attach to my Sony A7ii without an adapter (native E-mount). This lens fit that particular line item on the bill. Having read many reviews about this and similar products, I went into this with eyes wide open. I knew it would not compete with comparable high-end Zeiss glass. At one-tenth the price, you wouldn't expect it to. But for my purposes, it works just fine. I have had some experience with the Nikon 85mm / 1.4 still lens, and I compare this cine lens very favorably - again at much less cost. Focusing is smooth and solid, as is aperture control. The only real downside I have found so far is the minimum focusing distance at 1.1 meters. But again, I knew this going in.
I gave this lens my wall test today and it did well, continuing my good results with Elite Brands lenses. Resolution is even by t2.8 and vignetting is mostly gone by t4. The lens hoods even fit better.With the handy Nisha macro attachment, the focus range of this Samyang 84mm lens is a few inches. I am using the 77mm Nisha.
This is my fifth Rokinon / Samyang lens but this one is not tested yet. It's my second cinema lens, & looks perfect.*One of the others is an automatic focusing lens for Sony, 35mm f1.4, and I have the brick for firmware updates.*I've had good luck with 'Elite Brands' lenses and with an old history in manual photography, have no problem with that. My digital cameras provide highlight colour focus confirmation.*Good to deal with B&H. This completes my current orders, thank you!-
And the hits keep coming. Beautiful 85mm. I have come to Samyang as my go to lens. Because for cinema Primes under 5k they cant be touched and they hold their own against lenses in that price range and even lenses higher.
This is a fantastic hybrid cine lens that allows those less fortunate with money to have a great cine lens. The picture quality & the operating, remembering that it a cine lens is great. I really can't fault it. And when used with the other Samyang cine II series lens with a follow focus really helps your creativity. Forget your photo lenses & get the Samyang cines. And I'm not being paid for this.
I use this lens for video and it is just what I wanted. My previous favourite was my Canon 50mm 1.8 (nifty fifty) with an adaptor. This one will take it's place. The thing I like most is the de-clicked aperture and manual focus which allows you to be extremely specific with your settings. Both are very smooth. Also the all important image quality really is top notch. This is my 2nd Samyang Cine lens and I love them so much I'll probably get the 35mm and 50mm as well
this is a very good cine lens and for the price very good value. If you are a potential film maker or student than this is a must lens and part of your arsenal.
