Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 II Lens For Sony E Mount Body
Top resolution over the entire image field is the most important feature of the Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 FE. The lens consists of 11 elements in 9 groups and contains 2 aspherical lenses and 2 lenses with a high refraction, plus Ultra Multi Coating. The optical design minimizes aberrations and unnecessary light distribution to deliver excellent resolution. Fast, precise and quiet autofocus performance come together with Samyang’s excellent optical technology to capture every moment in focus. The large F1.4 aperture guarantees a fast shutter speed and creates a small depth of field in a standard wide-angle image area. The new 35mm F1.4 lens is ideal for professional photography such as low light events, landscapes and expressive portraits.

This lens is very at home in any kind of photography. It is extremely sharp and focuses very fast. My only gripe is that its manual focus is very iffy, almost as if its jumping from distance to distance. Other than that, I have no other complaints. It is an absolutely amazing lens for its price.

I like this lens but not love it. It’s definitely a much cheaper option that the Sony lens. The 1.4 bokeh is great but the blur is not as good as the Sony lens. Fast auto focus for photos. I haven’t tried video but I’ve heard it’s difficult to autofocus with video.Pictures are very sharp and I love it!Biggest downside to this lens is that it’s bulky and heavy, not probably not something I would like to carry when travelling. Much better Off with a zoom or 50mm. Other downsides are that it’s lens cap and seal feel cheap. Then again, I’m paying $1000 less than the Sony lens. This is probably a good lens if you’re planning to shoot close up portraits or product photography.Overall I’m happy with it.

I've been shooting with this lens for over a month and have done multiple graduation shoots with it.The good: For the price this lens has exceptional build quality, pleasing bokeh, and great sharpness when stepped down. I don't think you could find a more flattering 35mm for this price. Color rendition is nice and photos have that 3D pop associated with good micro-contrast.The bad: The lens struggles to nail the subject's eyes and will often focus on the nose or chest(shooting on Sony a7iv) and will hunt when facing backlit situations. I noticed the first photo in a burst is consistently out of focus - it seems like the green box shows up before the lens is done finding fine focus. This is my only samyang/rokinon autofocus lens so I haven't bought the lens ... MoreI've been shooting with this lens for over a month and have done multiple graduation shoots with it.The good: For the price this lens has exceptional build quality, pleasing bokeh, and great sharpness when stepped down. This is my only samyang/rokinon autofocus lens so I haven't bought the lens station, it's disappointing that you need to spend another $60 to make this lens usable. When editing in lightroom the lens profile is not automatically applied - not a big deal but annoying when you use multiple lenses in the same shoot. Have not had this problem with any other third party lens I own.

Worst lens out of the new box I've ever purchased. Returned it after a few days of shooting. Used the Samyang dock to adjust autofocus and upgrade firmware to the most recent as of 12/1/19. I could not get the focus even close to accurate. Out of the box it was inches off from a short distance of 4 feet from the subject with multiple shots taken. Some like the build quality but I really did not like the finish. It's also a very long 35mm lens and weighty so it didn't balance well on my A7R III. A little too warm for my tastes which are typical of Samyang. I'll stick with my Samyang 35mm f2.8 that I purchased used from B&H for $213. That lens is very sharp at f2.8 and is an amazing pancake lens, regardless of the low cost, and a very useful focal range of 35mm as a ... MoreWorst lens out of the new box I've ever purchased.
