Samyang MF 14mm f/2.8 Lens (Nikon Z)
Product Description An ultra-wide prime well-suited for landscape, architecture, and astrophotography applications, the Nikon Z-mount Samyang MF 14mm f/2.8 pairs a sophisticated optical layout with a robust and intuitive design. Incorporating 14 elements in 10 groups, this lens utilizes a series of aspherical, low dispersion, and high refractive index elements to reduce color fringing, aberrations, and distortions for sharp, clear, and color accurate imagery. An Ultra Multi-Coating is also featured, as well as a built-in petal-shaped lens hood, to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in bright, direct lighting conditions. Complementing the imaging assets, a manual focus design is employed that permits working with subjects as close as 11" away, and the metal housing is weather-sealed to permit working in inclement conditions.

After first few shots, you will get good results from this lens.Once you're familiar with the manualPros:Super cheap comparative any other of this segmentSize is perfect,Nikon ZConsManual focus, takes a little time to adjustAuto focus would have make a life more easy

Very sharp, although the distortion is a little heavy. Luckily I use DXO Photolab that corrects it pretty much perfectly. It transmits EXIF info and manual focus really isn't much of a problem, especially since it's an ultrawide. If you can afford/justify a Nikon UW lens, then definitely go for that. They are better in every way (I used to own a Nikon 17-35). If you only use an ultra wide lens occasionally, then this Samyang is a great choice.

Great lens, use magnification and focus peaking for sharp pictures. Distance no problem, all is in focus.

Knew it was a manual focus but didn't know you set the aperture manually. Use it on a Nikon Z7. Images are great. Use the z 7's focus assist on 1.8 and then step down to desired aperature and let the Z 7 set the shutter speed for accurate exposure. Good value.
Sharp, light, and native Z mount, with this price it is really worth the money. Great for landscapes and astro photography. Manual focus is not a problem due to focal length and focus highlighting turned on.
An OK lens for the price but it has a hair or something that I can't clean off the front or back element. . .can remove the visual flaw with Lightroom. . .but shouldn't have to. . .
This lens is well made and takes interesting images. Remarkable value for money. I bought it out of curiosity because it was not a lot of money and I thought I deserved a treat. I am rather pleased that I did. It has opened up for me a whole new world of landscape images. It is a manual lens but this hardly matters because at 14mm it is almost always in focus. Having used it I would have been happy to pay twice as much.
Picked my version of this lens for a good price. Well pleased with initial results, they all look very sharp. lens is solidly built and the movement of the aperture ring is very satisfying. The manual nature of the lens is not a problem considering the subject matter of my photo's when I'm using this lens if anything it's a plus point as it makes you take a bit care and thought before you click the shutter. When you take into account that this lens cost me about a fifth of the price of a Nikon equivalent I am really pleased with the results. It's alright for people who can spend 1000 on a lens without worrying about it but for those of us who do have to take cost into account I really can't recommend this lens enough, I don't think a Nikon lens equivalent is 5 times ... MorePicked my version of this lens for a good price. I am glad to find that there are still manual focus lenses out there. This lens has a fine granularity to adjust the focus, which is essential for Astrophotography. For landscape, there is actually no need for auto focus due to the depth of field at smaller apertures where most of the scenery will be in focus anyway. Besides that, the lens produces respectable sharpness and contrast and surprisingly for such a wide angle lens, the corner sharpness appears to be only slightly less sharp than the center at wide open aperture. Stopping down one or two stops results in even sharper images. I have much more expensive wide angle lenses that are exceptionally sharp in the center but drop more in sharpness toward the corners than this lens does. The quality optics is endorsed with a metal housing and a craftsmanship that reminds me of the good old Zeiss / Leica lens quality, build like a tank. Last but not least, the lens looks very esthetic, to my perception. Good job Samyang!
I was not planning on this lens, but it was on sale, and I gave it a try, and yes, I am very impressed. Build quality is awesome, nice heft, and the test image was sharp. Using the lens profile in CS, instantly corrected for the distortion, making this a 100% useful wide angle lens, very pleased.
