SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive

I recently purchased the SanDisk - Ultra Fit 128GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive, and I must say that I am extremely impressed with its performance. This flash drive is incredibly compact, which makes it easy to carry around with me wherever I go. Despite its small size, it has a massive 128GB storage capacity, which is perfect for storing large files such as movies, music, and documents.The USB 3.1 interface ensures super-fast data transfer speeds, which makes it easy to move large files back and forth between my computer and the flash drive. I bought the *previous version* of the Ultra Fit around 2016, and it started off pretty great - usually full USB 3.0 speeds for read, and a decent ~40 MB/s write. Not bad for the deal I got on the drive back then. Then, once I started putting more than 5GB of files on it (years later), its issues started showing up. Drive got very hot, and often ejected itself (Windows would do the unplug and replug sound). Move it to a USB 2.0 port, and the issues were gone, but you'd rarely beat 20MB/s writes. Now (of course after the warranty period), but after having written less than a terabyte or 2 on the drive, the drive is dying. But I don't.Great look, it was on my keychain for years and I didn't even loose the cap, but alas, the design is clearly heavily flawed, and these small drives just can't cool themselves fast enough. At least, not the SanDisk ones. I would have recommended it as a USB 2 drive, but even so, it seems like it can't even handle more than a dozen overwrites, which is woefully low for any flash tech (and this must have been TLC or better). That, or the heat killed it.

There are two companies involved here: Sandisk (hardware) and SecurStick (software). What you're paying for is the hardware, so I'm rating this 5 stars, but beware that the software is really pithy, and not always stable. They turned off about 1/3 of the features and made it very clunky to use, to "encourage" (force) people to "upgrade" (pay even MORE money than they already just did) in order to have full functionality and a half-way decent GUI interface.It's also only 128bit encryption "for free" with higher SSL-type numbers available if you cough up more dough. I think that's pretty lame, and SanDisk needs to write their own fully-functional software that doesn't cost their customers anything more than the cost of the hardware itself. SanDisk needs to cut the price of all their flash/thumbdrives in half if they're going to stick with SecurStick's software, otherwise, it's a bum deal.Still, as always, the quality of the hardware is excellent! SanDisk is the one brand that can be truested to get the hardware side of storage correct.
