ANYWAYS, I've gone on for long enough. For anybody still reading my ramblings, all I'm really trying to say is, most of the cheap and even a lot of the pricey USB 3 drives on the market are SLOW. And if not SLOW, then slower than they should be to call themselves a USB 3 drive. That’s when I discovered Newegg had a bunch of more drives that met my criteria. My bad experience with Silicon Power made me look right past their drives, but then I found this SanDisk Extreme! I have a Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD in my work Laptop, I know they can make fast flash. I looked at the reviews on here, then I searched google, they are all extremely favorable, and they all said, when it comes to real world transfers, which is the ONLY benchmark I care about, these drives do what they ... MoreANYWAYS, I've gone on for long enough. AND THEY WERE ALL RIGHT!!! I've had this drive for almost a month now. I have my ENTIRE daily used EXE toolkit loaded on it. I keep my daily toolkit limited to 15 GB's so that I can keep it in my Google Drive to download in case for whatever reason I don't have my flash drive. But then I have about 35 GB's left over for just transfer space. I have used it at least once a day every single day since I have had it, and it NEVER FAILS to AMAZE ME! I LOVE the Locking Mechanism! I don't think it’s quite as sturdy as my Kingston Data Travelers, but it has held up on my keychain necklace so far, and even though it is plastic, it still does have a durable feel to it. Today I even imaged a small 62GB workstation to it, and then deployed that image to a new SSD. Using Acronis and the highest compression setting (SO I could fit it on the drive,) it completed the image, (compression and all) in exactly 6 mins and 37 seconds! I timed it from the time I hit proceed, to the time it said backup complete, and I EVEN TOLD IT TO VERIFY THE IMAGE! I'm used to speeds like that with my USB 3 WDs, but not a thumb drive! Any ways, if your still reading, just stop reading, and buy the drive. I have wasted enough of your time already. Here is the gist. Most of these drives you will read reviews for, don’t live up to the hype, This one will meet and even surpass your expectations! GET IT and you won't be sorry. Its the perfect balance between Speed and Cost. And now, even though I went on for what seemed like 3 novels, I still feel the need to mimic the first commenter below. He made a good review, but then he listed all the specs of his computer, down to his freaking keyboard! None of them have much relevance to the drive. So just for fun, I give you, all of my pointless specs! My RiG: A Mouse A Keyboard A bad a-$-$ Stereo System (2) 22" IPS Monitors (2) 55" 4k Big Screen A Case with a bunch of nice parts in it Expensive Cords to hook it all up!

I see this item is being sold and shipped by another person after the previous seller removed it from the marketplace, who has negative reviews for sending the wrong items and possible fake goods from Asia. Read their replies using poor English. When it was removed it briefly listed Newegg as the seller. What's the deal with this? I'd rather buy from a retailer who is listed on the SanDisk site. When buying this drive and anything else, always check the bottom of the page and buy from newegg, not the lowest seller it defaults to when you add to your cart.

I got this on sale during Black Friday for 19.99. I consider it quite a steal. It's very fast and I probably will review later as this gets more usage time. The plastic construction is quite sturdy, but I really wish SanDisk would make this will a metal shell like the Titanium Cruzers which stopped selling several years back. It uses a sliding mechanism to hide the USB tip much like SanDisk's other Cruzer drives. Speeds copying large files on Windows: Write: Starts at 125 MB/s then drops to a stable 110-115 MB/s. There is no way to tell from the packaging if a drive is configured as removable or fixed disk. SanDisk no longer produces fixed disk drives and the best way to guarantee you purchase a fixed disk drive is to buy a drive that is certified for "Windows To Go".Stacey M.: Additional information about Windows to Go can be found on Microsoft's website http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enterprise/products-and-technologies/devices/windowstogo.aspx>>> Why can't SanDisk just provide a way for people to flip this RMB in some firmware.Stacey M.: Unfortunately, we do not have any tool available to change the firmware or to change the configuration.
The SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 flash drive has a capacity of 32 gigabytes, which is more than adequate for the temporary file storage and transfer purposes for which I would primarily use it. Indeed, it is large enough that I could use it for long-term back-up of many important files if some of my existing means of back-up had a problem. Because my computer has only USB 2.0 ports, rather than the USB 3.0 ports which the flash drive was designed to optimize, I could not test the claims made about its speed with the USB 3.0 ports. However, I did test its speed of copying a file from the flash drive to my hard drive. It did so at a rate of about 200 megabytes a second, about 10 times faster than copying a file from my existing back-up drive to my hard drive. It did so at a rate of about 200 megabytes a second, about 10 times faster than copying a file from my existing back-up drive to my hard drive. Thus, that was impressive and presumably would be more so through a USB 3.0 port. When I attempted to copy to the flash drive any individual file that exceeded four gigabtyes, however, I got an error message that the file "is too large for the destination file system," even though there was several times the necessary space remaining on the flash drive. By checking the SanDisk website, I discovered that this could be remedied by reformatting the flash drive, but I am puzzled why the flash drive did not come already formatted in this manner -- after all, the advertising for the flash drive touts its speed at transferring large files. Aside from this minor issue, the flash drive has thus far performed very well.
This is a very good flash drive that will do backups and transfers quickly, but is very simple with no lights and whistles. It comes in a simple black plastic case and is retractable, no cap or cover. It is approximately 2 3/4" long and 7/8" wide. It is made by SanDisk, which is a very reputable company and their service is excellent as I can attest to from prior dealings with them. The actual flash drive is 32gbs and uses a 3.0 usb port (2.0 compatible). It also comes with Secure Access encryption software to protect any documents that you are transferring to the drive. I can't say that I downloaded a movie in 20 seconds as advertised, but I did transfer 2 massive work papers and their reference documents extremely fast. It is very easy to use as the drive is easy to insert and retract thanks to a push/pull button on the case. There is an indicator light on top of the case to let you know that the drive is inserted correctly and ready for your use. It also blinks while working and quits when done. You can't go wrong in purchasing this flash drive. It is very fast and holds a lot of information.

SanDisk 32GB Extreme USB 3.0 Flash DriveThis is the best thumb drive I have ever had to date, and it is inexpensive, too. The write and read speeds are very close to the specification sheet or at least what I was getting.I am very tired about how some other company exaggerated the statement on the retail box in the tricky way. SanDisk is absolutely legit and honest to what they say on their retail box for this item. This is huge to me, and very important for me to tell if this company has integrity for doing business. What I do with it is to transfer the large movie files from my computer to my DLink Media player, and play the movie on my larger TV screen via USB input to my media player. I don't even need to copy the movie files to DVDRW any longer; I can play it right on the thumb drive itself without any lag. With a read/write speed in the 100MB's I have never gotten faster than 30mb’s. I guess the bottleneck is my hard drive or my slow Celeron Processor that I copy to and from. Still about 3-4 times faster than my old usb memory.Being an IT Sys Admin I utilize all things possible and can keep important information backed up on this drive.. These things are terrific, and make categorizing and finding the photos very easy. Also included on the drive is an application to secure you info on it. I will be looking into is shortly.I also backed up some files from my House DVR then played the H.264 video from the USB 3.0 drive on a desktop computer, No problems whatsoever.I like that the drive goes in and out for some protection. The cosmetic and the design (the look) of the thumb drive itself is pretty cool and slick. If I want to be picky, I think it is a bit too long, I hope it can be shorter and smaller. It is not the deal breaker however.I won't deduct any point from my review for this reason.Other than the larger size I think a lanyard should have been included as well but it’s no biggie, The flashing light on it when transferring data is a nice feature not all flash drives have that included.I hope this help you in making you decision to purchase this drive
This is a review of the SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive. I was very amazed in how much faster this thumb drive was compared to a USB 2.0 flash drive. I decided to run some real world tests of my own. I selected various video files that totaled 7 GB. After plugging it into my USB 3.0 port on my Dell i3 3521 I dragged the files from the source to the SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive. It took about 3 minutes with Windows 8.1 file explorer showing a copy rate of 39 MB/s. As a comparison I copied the same files to a USB 2.0 thumb drive plugged into the same USB 3.0 port. I finally cancelled the file copy after 12 minutes and it had only completed 4.5 GB at a copy rate of 5 MB/s. I liked how they decided to make the SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive slimmer so that it fits in between cords and other USB devices plugged into my computer. I liked how it doesn't have a cap to keep track of. Instead it uses a slide mechanism to retract the USB connector back inside the body of the unit. For those of us who like to carry a thumb drive with us on the go it has a hole at the end to allow it to go on a lanyard or key chain. The SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive includes encrypting software, SanDiskSecureAccessV2_win. I found the software easy to use.
