256GB not compatible with Canon Mark 5D Mark ll

Shooting a long time lapse (8 - 10 hours) on an old camera (Canon 5D Mark ll). Camera has latest firmware but will not read or format the 256GB. Tried deep formatting on my laptop and still camera will not read. Clearly the camera is too antiquated for this size card. Would be helpful if B& H provided camera compatibility info for each of the different memory sizes. Yes, all of these cards will fit the Mark ll but what is the maximum size memory the Mark ll will actually be able to read? Not a lot definitive info out there. Hoping I can return opened cards. Very expensive mistake.

This type of memory card was and still is my most used card in my cameras. Some of my cameras date back more than 10 years and are still in use. SanDisk CF cards were the first I purchased [starting with 256MB ;-) many years ago] and since those never failed, I sticked to this brand over all those years and none of those cards ever disappointed me. Hope those cards will serve me without failures in the future as well.

Fast and Reliable

It's funny that every time I shop B&H for memory cards, I inevitably end up buying SanDisk. It's probably due to the fact that I've never had a single failure or corrupted card. Because I'm a pro shooter, I have to make sure that I have solid equipment that is reliable....right down to the memory cards I use. For the money, this card is super fast and will hold a ton of images. When I shoot video, I know that the card will keep up with the camera...so less or zero buffering issues. Thanks to SanDisk for making pretty much bullet-proof cards. It's one less thing to worry about during an important shoot.

I realized on a recent trip that the speed of a CF really does matter. I had been using my SanDisk cards for 10 years!! Can't argue with the duriblility. It was time to upgrade. I used the new cards with a handheld 70-200 2.8 lens and my shots were sharp as can be. Then the downloading was so much faster. I hope to get another 10 years from these new cards.

I've been using SanDisk memory cards for years and I've never had a single issue. On one occasion, I left the card in my pocket and it went through the laundry, both washer and dryer. I was shocked when I put the card into the reader and all the files were still there and copied over to my computer with no problems. Wow! The cards look fetching in their black and red color scheme, they are labeled clearly and they are a pleasure to use. I just love them and often have pleasant dreams of the cards dancing. I highly recommend them.

We have used the 16gb versions of this card without issue in our Canon 5D MKIII since we bought it in 2013. Late last year we picked up a couple of the 32gb versions for additional capacity. After the first use I noticed glitches in some of the video clips as well as still images. I reformatted the card thinking this would fix the issue it did not. The same thing happened on the next shoot. The problem was intermittent but happened enough that we couldnt trust the card. I put the card back into the bag and forgot about it until I noticed that the 1 year warranty was about to expire. I sent the cards back to SanDisk and they exchanged them for 2 new ones. Again, we had the same issues with the replacements. I am not sure if this is some sort of compatibility problem ... MoreWe have used the 16gb versions of this card without issue in our Canon 5D MKIII since we bought it in 2013. I called Canon support and they blamed the card.

I purchased this product for my Canon EOS 7D camera, and tested it to see how it compared to my existing 16 GB SanDisk Extreme 60 MBs CompactFlash card. I like to shoot baseball, and I wanted to know if the 160 MBs card could capture a higher frame rate or a larger number of frames than the 60 MBs card. You can read this entire review, but heres the conclusion In a Canon EOS 7D with the firmware 2.0.3 latest, with UDMA support, the 60 MBs and 160 MBs cards performance is virtually identical, and the 160 MBs feature is not worth the increased cost. I experienced no difficulties or compatibility problems whatsoever with either card. I experienced no difficulties or compatibility problems whatsoever with either card. I formatted both cards in the camera, mounted it on a tripod, and adjusted the camera for highest frame rate performance. I then photographed the iPhone Stopwatch app at highest speed, RAWonly, until capture speed was noticeably reduced. I performed each test at least three times. Variance between tests was minimal.Using the 160 MBs card, I can capture 23 RAW images in three seconds. In the fourth second, frame rate noticeably deteriorates to two to four fps. One second its four, another its 2, another its 3, etc..Using the 60 MBs card, I can capture 21 to 23 RAW images usually 21 in three seconds. In the fourth second, frame rate noticeably deteriorates to two to four fps. Although this faster card does provide a measurable difference in frame rate, I think it is insignificant.I also measured buffer flush times, and here the difference was substantial. I captured a burst for about 4 seconds, and then I stopped capturing and I timed how long the red write LED flashed. In this test, the 160 MBs card was dramatically better While the slow card took 9.7 seconds to finish writing data, the 160 MBs card took 6 seconds. This means After shooting a burst, your 7D is ready for more photos about four seconds sooner if you use the 160 MBs card. This might be significant to some photographers. And, of course, copying 32 GB of data to your PC will probably be much faster with the 160 MBs card, as long as you have a high quality USB 3.0 card reader my Mac only has USB 2, so I could not test this. For my needs, I should have saved my money and purchased a 60 MBs or 90 MBs card, but I am going to keep this card and the old card will be my backup. No complaints whatsoever about this product, but my recommendation would be to buy an Extreme or Extreme Pro 90 MBs model for this camera.Final comments First, SanDisk has three kinds of Extreme cardsExtreme 60 MBsExtreme Pro 90 MBsExtreme PRO 160 MBsB H does a great job of letting you know which SanDisk card youre buying. does a poor job, with pricing and markings that dont make sense. I do not recommend buying this product from , because its hard to know what youre buying.I hope youve enjoyed my test results. If you have a different camera model, such as a 5D Mark iii, do not assume that your results will be the same. Different camera models have different CPUs, so your performance may be very different.

What is there left to say?
10 March 2023

There is nothing much left to say about compact flash cards. So unfortunate that they're being slowly phased out. I still shoot with a Canon 1Dx on each shoulder and I've always been a fan of the dual CF card option. I don't do much video and maybe 128GB cards are a bit overkill for what I do but these cards are reliable and are unlikely to fail. I will shoot CF cards until my cameras quit functioning.

This memory card is great for my Canon EOS 7D camera! When I bought my camera a number of years ago, the memory card I bought was around 4GB, because that's all I could afford at that time - the larger capacity memory cards were outrageously priced. Now that the price has gone done, I was finally able to purchase the 128GB memory card. I was using the video recorder on my camera to film my music band performing gigs, and the older memory card would always run out of space and capture only 1/3 of our concerts. With the 128GB capacity, I no longer have to worry about the recording stopping in the middle of the concert. Also, the specs on this card are great - very fast - great for burst shooting of photos.
