This is smaller and lighter than I was expecting. I connected it to my MacBook Pro. Works right out of the box. Moved an image onto it. Opened image. Works as expected so far. The next test will be using it with my iPad. 3rd test will be pushing a day's worth of images onto it.

Bought it 4 wks ago, tested by coping about 12 GB data onto it, all ok. After the initial test use, it has not been used till yesterday when tried to copy another folder (500MB) to it, it failed by showing error code (I/O issue) with every file. Tried all remedials: connect to another USB slot, check cable plugs, change PC, restart PC... nothing worked. Today it has even completely failed, when plug it into USA, it sated that the SSD needs to be formatted. then after I clicked on Format, it stated that this SSD can not be formatted. End of story! Fortunately it has been exchanged for a new one. Pity for the trusted SanDisk brand, I have many its SD cards which are reliable, I dont expect such thing happen to a brand new SSD driver, just hope that the new one will be OK.

I purchased this SSD as a means to store my photos and videos on a device that was faster than a normal portable hard drive. So far it has been great. The speed increase over my portable hard drive is night and day. The form factor of the drive is wonderful. It is small, compact, and weighs next to nothing. The only drawback is that the SSD comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable. The drive itself has a USB-C port on it leaving you with a USB-A plug. Keep this in mind if you are using a device that only has USB-C connections. I used one of my own USB-C to USB-C cables and it worked fine.

This a great storage option with fast transfer speeds and huge storage capacity. I love the reliability that’s provided by a solid-state drive. The form factor of the drive is extremely small for the capacity and leads to a device that’s highly portable, easily fitting in a pocket or clipped to a carabiner. The drive can be encrypted for security and has simple and intuitive unlock controls that auto-play when connected. It has a rubberized exterior that provides a high level of durability & drop protection, which is a big consideration for something that’s entrusted to hold important documents & files. I also appreciate that it comes with multiple connections types, including both USB-C and a Type-A adaptor.
I haven't tried em out yet, what I'm trying to figure out is, I bought two of these for my kids, upon checking out it popped up that I qualified for a free jump drive or minisd, I chose mini sd, well I finish checking out and it was all good until I clicked the submit order, where it now charged me for the FREE item. I don't understand how it was free but I then paid for it? And it didn't even tell me I was going to be billed until I submitted the order. I thought 2+2=4 not 6, explain please how I got charged for a free offer that I wasn't shopping for in the first place? Please, I know if this is how your business is conducted I will not be a repeated shopper, I thought wd was better than that. Then I try to look into it and there is no contact info anywhere on ... MoreI haven't tried em out yet, what I'm trying to figure out is, I bought two of these for my kids, upon checking out it popped up that I qualified for a free jump drive or minisd, I chose mini sd, well I finish checking out and it was all good until I clicked the submit order, where it now charged me for the FREE item. Well unless it's a tech issue , fix my issue and I will fix this bad review but as of this moment, y'all are pralines and mint ice cream, not leaving a very good taste in my mouth.
Love the compact size and of course the speed of an SSD. However, compared to other similar devices I've used this one has been problematic. I always take care to ensure I use the eject function yet virtually every time I plug the device back in it comes up with a device failure and requires a scan. I haven't lost any data, yet, but it's alarming to think that every time I plug this thing in the system detects an issue. I'm about to return it under warranty because I feel like it may be defective. The laptop I use it with has no problem with other storage devices.
I had to partition the drive for my purposes and that was a little time consuming. To down load the software and set up was the main reason. Then I had to remove the remaining software to partition it and reload it back on to use it. It is also very durable and comes well protected from damage from impacts. I bought a connection hub so I could connect several devices along with the SSD drive and all worked fine.
I'd been looking for an inexpensive SSD to replace the large mechanical drive that I was using on a router with an NAS/Media server feature and eventually this drive appeared on sale at B&H and I decided to buy it. All that was needed was to reformat it NTFS and the drive was recognized by the router. I was able to load my 1.3TB of video files onto this drive and it is now working flawlessly as my media server. I expect it will save some energy over the mechanical drive, and hopefully be more robust.
Upon inspecting the SanDisk Portable SSD, I immediately noticed it's plastic, hollow built quality. This drive will not handle being clipped on a backPack or key chain. I would not trust the loop to secure the drive longterm. I expected more from SanDisk. This drive is not built like their other drives with the molded hole in the corner. I immediately returned it. I can't speak on its performance as I did not try it out.
This portable solid-state hard drive is great. I love how small it is, it really is small enough and slim enough to fit in your pocket, and you could even put it on your key chain with the small rubber tab. File transfer is very quick, it is silent, and no vibrations as you'd expect from an SSD. Construction-wise, it's made of hard plastic, it feels pretty well made, very light (not much weight to an SSD). When squeezed on the flat parts it does have some flex, but nothing that I'd worry about. It comes with a USB-C (hard drive connector end) to USB-A cable, so you may need an adapter or different cable if you are using it with a newer ultrabook/mac that only have USB-C. It works on both my Dell XPS ultrabook and my wife's Macbook Air. I definitely would recommend ... MoreThis portable solid-state hard drive is great.
