Having a 1 TB capacity in such a tiny size has its physical limitations. Read/write speed is very slow, much slower from what is listed on the package. It does get warm quickly. It could be the metal design. Yes, the price may be attractive, given a few years ago a 256 MB SD HC memory card cost a few hundred dollars (a dozen times more expensive than this Dual Drive, which is named that because of the USB-A and USB-C so you can use with older and newer computers). I give this only three stars. It is OK, but an external SSD drive was the way to go for the same price elsewhere. I would not buy it again, that's for sure. Caveat emptor.

It's functional. It's not great, and frankly, I'm a bit disappointed with the transfer speed on the USB-C side. I have two Samsung T7 Shield SSDs that transfer data between 15mb and 15GB all within a minute or less, but I can't say the same when I try to move files from one of those T7s to this Sandisk flash drive. But I'm afraid this probably wouldn't be able to run any programs at a reasonable speed due to the transfer speed, so I won't even try that.Also the way one end of the flash drive will always be exposed (unless I get a special travel case), it seems like a recipe for dust and dirt to get in easily. I actually saw a similar concept to this flash drive from OWC, just slightly larger and with end caps to protect the connectors, unlike this one which leaves the open end exposed. Although if one end does go bad, I'm not sure if the other end would still remain usable. Again, I've only had it for a few weeks so only time will tell, but presumably and hopefully not.Lesson learned, just because I see a good deal, doesn't mean it'll magically add any benefit to my workflow if I don't research its specs properly.

I've purchased the 256 GB drive for my various needs.The Shipping was fast and the item seems to be good quality, judging strictly by the exterior built observation. I haven't used it yet to test its performance and reliability.However, upon inserting this into my MacBook I found out that the Actual drive Capacity is only 250 GB and NOT 256 GB as it's advertised.That's quite disappointing to say the least. The missing 6 GB in drive capacity is a significant loss for me. This is unacceptable Gross Misrepresentation in my opinion. This should be corrected to provide consumer with true/accurate description of the product. Therefore, I only give it 4 stars. I still have to see how it works with me transferring files etc.
It's very compact, and it works well. Fast transfer speeds and all the memory you need. Also has a sleek design that is appealing to the eye. I only have 2 complaints, first, there is no included covers or sheath, or anything like that to keep dirt out of it, which is not a dealbreaker, but it would add a quarter of a star. The other problem is that it gets very hot to the touch while you are using it. It even gets hot when it is just plugged in. This excessive heat has not caused any issues yet, but I'm just worried that excessive heat in small devices can shorten the lifespan. Hopefully I will update this if it fails or causes any issues. If it weren't for those 2 things, it would be 5 stars.

The computer ground to a halt with the Finder showing a spinning beachball, The Finder showed Not responding when I did command-option-escape to bring up the application list. iTunes and VSCode were also seized up and showed not responding. Disk First Aid would not show any drives at all - it just showed looking for drives indefinitely. I noticed also that the flash drive got extremely hot, almost too hot to touch. But whatever the reason I can't use them for what I intended, which is easily moving files between the Sound Devices recorder and MacBook Air.

I bought the 512GB version and I unfortunately got a defective one that immediately overheated as soon as it was plugged in. It was too hot to touch and I had to hold it with a cloth to unplug it and let it cool down. It was fortunately plugged into a device with metal casing. If the casing was plastic, it would've melted. However, Officeworks replaced the flash drive immediately with no problems. The replacement does also get hot when transferring large amounts of data, but not to the point where it is too hot to touch or posing any risk. This is a very high capacity crammed into a tiny device, and transfers at pretty decent speeds, so some heat not surprising. It was too hot to touch and I had to hold it with a cloth to unplug it and let it cool down. It was fortunately plugged into a device with metal casing. If the casing was plastic, it would've melted. However, Officeworks replaced the flash drive immediately with no problems. The replacement does also get hot when transferring large amounts of data, but not to the point where it is too hot to touch or posing any risk. This is a very high capacity crammed into a tiny device, and transfers at pretty decent speeds, so some heat not surprising. I note that the "premium metal design" does a great job of dissipating that heat quickly, which I'm guessing is not an accident. Overall, I'm very happy with it. It does exactly what I need it to do.
