TL;DR - Buy this product only if your okay with potentially wasting your money. If I could give a zero star I would. I bought two of these microSD cards as gifts. Everything about the microSD cards looked fine; however, when inserted into devices neither card could be formatted. Upon further investigation, disk utility said both cards only had 32MB of space!!! I could understand if one microSD card was faulty but both?!? Nothing was able to correct this issue and after an hour with customer support, the issue was still not resolved. The best I got was to go to SanDisk to initiate a warranty claim. (More time I get to waste, hooray). I’ve heard of people receiving counterfeit SanDisk microSD cards on Amazon but I wasn’t expecting that to happen at Best Buy. I bought this at Best Buy a couple weeks ago on sale for about $40. I'm amazed at how low prices keep going down over the past 12 years for memory cards. I used to pay many hundreds of dollars for a measly small amount of storage (remember the IBM Microdrives??). I'm using this card to stick into my new Lenovo L380 Thinkpad laptop for external and extra storage. I'm using this Sandisk card for doing Windows backups (as an external drive). Each time a backup is completed, it currently takes up about 17 to 20 GB. That's why it's important to have a large size for storage, as each backup takes up a lot of space. Plus I'm also using the card for as an extra storage for my pictures, music, videos, apps, docs, etc. I would like to get the 512GB version next time if it's ... MoreI bought this at Best Buy a couple weeks ago on sale for about $40. I'm also tempted to get extra cards for my Samsung S9 smartphone and my old Samsung compact camera. The reason I'm docking 1 star for a 4 star rating is because I've been burned in the past with these cards. I've had various cards go bad on me when using inside a dash-cam in my car. The card over time (years) simply stops working. My theory is that the heat build-up inside the dashcam next to the windshield might be frying the card. I can't prove this, but that's my guess. As a test, I copied my beloved "A New Hope" Star Wars movie onto this card, then inserted it into my Lenovo laptop. I played the movie via the card inserted into the laptop. I did not notice any stuttering or delays, the movie played smoothly. That was good enough for me. :-)

I bought this as a drive for my new computer. I keep all working files on removable solid state drives so this functions as a portable hard drive for my computer. So far (2 weeks) it has performed flawlessly. I have had many SanDisk drives over a period of many years and have always found them to be reliable (no failures). This one had a large capacity for a great price so I bought it for my newest computer.I always use portable drives for working files so that if a computer fails or if I need to switch computers (ie I get a new computer or a virus attack) I do not lose any files. I have multiple stick drives and also back up to the cloud (in multiple places).
I've had this for a few years now and it has been holding up well. Purchased this to quickly backup and transfer large media files between computers using the adapter. Using CrystalDiskMark, I've tested average read speeds of 93 mbps and write speed of 60 mbps. So far pretty happy with the product!

Ordered 2 256gb SD cards at an exceptional price. Turned out to be a mistake. Other reviewers warned about these being fake cards, I should have listened. As soon as I received them I ran a read/write test. The test reveled over 30,000 errors before it was 1/2 way finished. The packaging looks authentic, but the cards are totally junk. If you still feel like trying your luck, do yourself a favor run a thorough test as soon as you get these cards so you can return it within the return period. Walmart should investigate and ban this seller...IMOHO. On the other hand, Walmart took them back and issued a full refund. "Be careful out there." One star rating is mandatory.
For all the reviews saying the size isn't right (and thinking that means the cards are fake) you are not reading the description and you don't understand how hard drives, SSDs, flash drives, or memory cards are sold. This is an industry-standard. Your computer reads things in multiples of 1,024... so 1,024 bytes is a KB, 1,024 KB is an MB... 1,204 MB is a GB, etc... But all drives are sold in multiples of 1,000. So if you buy a 512GB card, and do the math... device makers are saying that card is 512,000,000,000 bytes. But divide that by 1,024 and your operating system will see it as 476.84GB. Beyond that, you also lose a small percentage for the "file system" index on the drive. So you may see a few GB less even. In my case, I have a 256GB card, which shows up as ... MoreFor all the reviews saying the size isn't right (and thinking that means the cards are fake) you are not reading the description and you don't understand how hard drives, SSDs, flash drives, or memory cards are sold. Beyond that, you also lose a small percentage for the "file system" index on the drive. So you may see a few GB less even. In my case, I have a 256GB card, which shows up as 238GB, which is exactly as expected. The description on this listing explains this with the text:1MB=1,000,000 bytes. 1GB=1,000,000,000 bytes. 1TB=1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Actual user storage is less. That explained, I tested my card's speed to see if it hits the 120MB/s ideal... not really. But marketing hype being what it is, I'm sure the "Speed up to 120/MB/s**" is in perfectly ideal conditions with specific readers and file sizes and the like... so my test of 93MB/s on a 10-year-old USB 3 card reader with the SD adapter is acceptable to me. I think this should work fine on a soon to arrive Nintendo Switch for the kids. I'll update this review if any surprises come up that should be noted.Read less
TEST YOUR CARD BEFORE REVIEWING IT!You can't judge a card based on its label and the fact that it can store SOME data. Cards are sold every day with a falsified format that make them appear to have a lot more storage capacity than they actually have.I bought 3 of these 256 GB "SanDisk" cards at the same time. I opened one package and tested it with a well-known and trusted tool called "f3". You run f3write to fill the card with data, and f3read to check that the data were properly written. The first card failed in a way that suggests this is a 32 GB card that has been (intentionally?) malformatted as 256 GB. I opened the 2nd package and tested the card the same way, with the same result.I then took a 256 GB card I had previously purchased elsewhere, and ran the ... MoreTEST YOUR CARD BEFORE REVIEWING IT!You can't judge a card based on its label and the fact that it can store SOME data. This is not a SanDisk problem. I have perfectly good cards from SanDisk. These are probably not SanDisk cards, or they may be SanDisk cards that have been relabeled and repackaged.
Lifesaver! I had a different brand (NOT SanDisk) 256gb microSD card in my Android phone, and it crashed after less than 1 year! Thankfully I was able to replace it quickly with a SanDisk. My apps and data all load faster on the SanDisk card than they ever did on the "other" card. I've been using a SanDisk in our dash cam, and it's crossed the country 4 times in our RV and never dropped a frame of video. Highly recommended!
