The self noise is on the lower end and I'd consider this for long recording times outdoors especially with the included wind shield that greatly reduces wind noise.Reception distance is only average but it is certainly good enough within 50 feet of use; for a similar price point there are options with internal recording. For wired lavalier use this is also average, but better than other not well known brands. I'm not a professional videographer. In fact, I'm just a grandparent who does a lot of family videos, i.e. my hobby. Getting good video quality is not a problem. I have a really nice DSLR and film in 4 K using good LED lighting. Getting good audio quality is something else but not with the Saramonic Blink 500 ProX B2 2. I mic up the grandkids and daughter and son-in-law and we're off to the races. I have the audio going into my Zoom H5 and source audio from my inexpensive shotgun mic on my camera. I have to tell you that my audio is stellar and the videos of my family will be forever cherished. The last one was all of them talking about their recent vacation with my wife asking the questions. Every thing is perfect, small problem with the charging case ( sometimes it's not charging) otherwise mics and sounds was at the expected level
