The Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 is a highly regarded shoe, with many runners reporting it can perform well with daily training, workouts, long runs and racing. After using this shoe for all of these purposes, I'd agree that for many runners, this could be a do-it-all shoe. It may not suit everyone though. I have spoken with a couple of female runners who found the shoe too unstable for them to use as a daily shoe. I can confirm that it does feel slightly unstable in the heal at slower speeds. This feel disappears as the pace increases to 4:40 minutes/km and beyond. I found this shoe more stable than some other racing shoes however, such as the Nike Vaperfly. As with most Saucony shoes I've tried (Freedom, Ride, Kinvara), the durability looks like it will be better than average. This shoe feels like a 'super shoe' with a high stack, bouncy foam and a rigid, snappy feel. While perhaps not as comfortable, stable and durable as some heavier daily trainers, it is better in each of these areas than most 'super shoes' making it suitable for a wider variety of purposes. Overall, I would highly recommend it for those looking to go long (15km+) and fairly fast. I would probably choose another shoe for shorter runs or very fast racing.

Don't let its label as a speed trainer throw you off. This is a very fast but very versatile shoe thanks to great PWRRUN PB foam, light weight and a nylon plate (that I barely feel). I use this shoe as a daily trainer 6-7 days a week for speed, hills, tempo and long runs (40-45 Mi/week). It does the work of two or three shoes and very well. Over 200 miles in these and very little signs of wear. The fit is comfy in forefoot and true to size. The one fit complaint I have is common to all the first and second version of the Endorphin shoes is heel lockdown is not great. For me it was horrible in first versions of speed and pro and has been greatly improved for second versions, but is still lacking. But its nothing that tying a racers loop can't handle. I've run several hundred with the Endorphin Speed 2 and these are hands down my favorite shoes. They offer cushy comfort with energy return on long days and light weight speedy transition on speed or tempo days. The bottom line is I am a much faster runner wearing these shoes across all distances.

I am a bin fan on the Endorphin line. I loved the Speed 2’s and the Speed 3’s and Pro 3’s are next level in my opinion. Having said that, I had a horrible experience with my third pair of Speed 2’s. I got the Campfire colorway and noticed the laces didn’t have the same stretch as my previous pairs. In fact, they were pretty stiff. This became much more noticeable as I was ramping up my volume for the 2022 NYC Marathon. I found the laces really dug into my tibialis anterior tendon. It started hurting in the last couple miles of my long runs, but a few weeks ago it really started bothering me 9 miles into a 17 mile out-and-back run. I was able to finish, but my tendon was really inflamed for the next week…so much so that I had to do some mileage on the elliptical ... MoreI am a bin fan on the Endorphin line. Now everybody’s feet are different, but shoes like the Speed 2’s should have some stretch in the laces. And the sad part is that they do…just not the Campfire colorway. They are now sitting in my closet with only 250 miles on them. I will never use them again.

I have recently (in the last year) got back into Running. I ran many years ago, and started back at it in 2019. I ended up fracturing my hip due to the running regiment I was doing. (To much to quick) After making the decision to start running again, I bought several pairs of shoes that were recommended by one of the local running stores. The other brand shoes made my whole lower body hurt, no matter what shoe i was in. I ended up seeing a run coach about my issues. He asked me if I had ever tried the Saucony line of shoes. He highly recommend them by the way! I decided what was there to lose. I started using the Endorphine Shift as my 1st shoe, then graduated to the Endorphine Speed 2. GAME CHANGER!!!!! Now, I don't experience the pain that use to have. Even though I still use the Shifts, The Endorphine Speed is my go to shoe. I would recommend this shoe well above any other shoe i have had in recent times. The shoe fits perfect. The shoe also has enough cushion to make the ride feel great. I have around 100 miles on the pair I have now and while I am on the site today I will be ordering me another pair, I don't think I can give Saucony enough Kudos for this shoe. I will be a longtime Endorphine Speed shoe owner, esp if they dont mess it up!
I have ran tempo with this shoe for roughly 70 miles in temperatures that range from 30-50 degrees. If you are looking for a shoe that will keep your feet warm without sacrificing speed (pun intended) or functionality, the Run Shield Speed is the top contender. Most of my buddies wear cold weather socks or even gators when we train in the cold, rain, or wind. The Run Shield Speed negates those needs. It’s upper materials are that of a “gortex” and warming layer so it keeps the cold out and retains the heat. This shoe is fast, fun, warm, and a great to look at.A fun point of curiosity for me is that sometimes sweat will build up under the tongue and areas of the upper will be become saturated. I don’t think this is a drawback, it’s just a sign that you are having fun. But be warned, if you intend on running this shoe in temperatures higher than 50, you feet will sweat and that is a liberal estimate. The only drawback to the Run Shield Speed is the price. With the Endorphin Pro being $200-220, asking upwards of $180 is a stretch. But if you can forgive the price point and want a warm trainer for winter, this shoe is top notch.Pro: Warm.Water resistant.Speedy and responsive.Durable.Con: Price.
The Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 is an amazing shoe; it’s very responsive and provides a deep and balanced cushioning that isn’t overly soft. It is a very fast shoe that is well suited to tempo and speed work, and is a viable option for race day. I have used the shoe for slow runs and hills training, and it excels there too. Many running sites/blogs have called the Speed 2 a versatile do it all shoe; it is and does that well, but I would still want a softer shoe for recovery days or really slow runs, and I have the Pro for track workouts and race day in good weather. The Speed 2 has decent ventilation and a firm outsole that should have good durability, and my size 11 came in at 8.7 oz.The Speed 2 RunShield edition came in at 8.45 oz; 0.25 oz less than my Speed 2 ... MoreThe Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 is an amazing shoe; it’s very responsive and provides a deep and balanced cushioning that isn’t overly soft. The upper is warmer; which is what I am looking for in a winter shoe, and the midsole didn’t firm up at 6C like standard EVA does. The RunShield coating is not water proof; it is water resistant, and runs through puddles and in moderate rain ended up with a semi wet upper, and mostly dry and warm feet after 12KM (my feet would have been soaking wet and cold in the Speed 2). The outsole is softer than the Speed 2/Pro, and is tacky to the touch. I didn’t run on painted lines, but the shoes provided solid traction on both asphalt and concrete.I love these shoes for tempo and long runs, and will use these for race day in either wet or cold conditions; so long as there isn’t any snow or ice.I would absolutely buy the Speed 2 RunShield again, and I recommend them highly.
There is no doubt these shoes are very fast, they took more then 2 minutes off my 4-mile workout run (33 minutes reduced to under 31 minutes) when compared to the stability shoes I normally wear. But they feel wobbly, especially when walking. They force me to land more on my forefoot than I am accustomed to, which caused me some lower leg and hip pain. My biggest complaint is the left shoe doesn't fit as well as the right. (I simultaneously bought a pair of Kinvara 13s, and they fit both feet perfectly, so I'm not convinced there's a problem with my left foot.) The right foot fits very well, but the left shoe seems to force my heel inward and down, as if the plate wasn't level or the foam is thinner there. Instead of returning it I doctored the insole until my left foot lands more normally. I've heard the Speed 3 model adjusts the foam and support some to improve stability, and maybe my complaint is related to the issue they were trying to address. I'm glad the shoes are light and fast, but I likely won't work out regularly in them. I like the Kinvara 13 shoes a lot better for training.
I normally run in Brooks and I shop sales—I’m not overly picky about running shoes as long as they are quality shoes (no Nikes). My sons prefer Saucony, and when these shoes came on sale online around the 4th of July of 2021, I bought them for my youngest son (my last of five sons who ran HS XC) and picked up a pair for myself to experience the difference. I saved them for my next marathon, which I ran on October 1, 2022 (St. George, Utah), only using them for about 50 miles during my 16-weeks of training to make sure they were broken in before the race. I really like these shoes! I nearly beat my 2013 marathon PR when I finished in 3:04:24 as a 55 year old, placing 2nd in my age group and 215th overall, and qualifying for Boston 2024 by over 30 minutes. In shopping for my next pair, this shoe really brought a key topic to mind. Anyone who has done speed work on a track in Endorphin shoes when the track is damp/wet experience the slippage as you either accelerate or run the turn. Could be injury inducing, if not careful, and certainly slows us down on the curve. So I find it ironic that this RunShield version of my favorite shoe (Endorphin) is made to be "water-resistant", yet the soles look even more slip-prone, should you do track work in wet weather. Perhaps this is not an issue for those who run on roads or trails...? Any chance there will be more track-friendly shoes coming our way that would have all the benefits of the Endorphins, but with better sole traction?
I love the performance so much, nothing else matters. I'm a sneaker head and wouldn't consider these Hypebeast worthy or on trend. They're running enthusiast + fit dad/mom shoes, but...PWRRUN PB is the best foam tech I've run on. It's like Zoom X on the Pegasus Turbos and Adidas Boost, but even softer and more bounce back. It's not dense which reduces weight, but expect creasing and easy abrasion. Who cares though, cause it retains that rebound and cushion for so long, I've logged 120 miles in a month. No exaggeration, I accidentally dropped a shoe out of my hand, it hit the slate floor, and bounced up and forward further than its 5 ft drop. Yes, it defies physics. The uppers are cheap in a good way, thin and breathable but trail or inclement weather running would thrash these summer tire shoes. These are best for treadmill and paved/dry running.I don't notice the nylon plate or enhanced rollover, and that's prob a good thing. I absolutely run faster in the Endorphin Speed 2. They significantly reduce effort on faster cadences, longer strides, and extended durations. No question the best running performance shoe. YouTube and online reviews didn't over hype these for me. For MSRP I begrudgingly still recommend it, but at sale prices or with coupons it's a great value.
