Comfortable and excellent grip.

I purchased this pair of shoes the day before I ran my spartan race. I typically don’t buy new shoes to wear before a run with obstacles but had no choice. After reading reviews on grip and comfort I decided to get them. All I can say is they were better than I expected. I was able to climb walls, run the terrain with hills, rocks and mud with comfort and stability. I highly recommend this pair of shoes for any off road run or hiking.

This shoe was not a good choice for me. I was trying to spend less than $150 for a new pair. I also wanted the Gor-tex for winter wear. The size 9W was too short and the toe box was somewhat narrow, so I ordered a 9.5. In Saucony, I generally wear 9. The 9.5 seemed OK, but after wearing these 2X, I decided the shoes were not comfortable: slightly too long, not the cushy support I expect, the heel does not fit right, and stiff. My orthotics fit, but I needed more width in the toe box and a heel that hugs my foot. So, it's back to my Echelons.

Doesn’t hold up against past versions of this shoe

I have been wearing Saucony’s, and especially Excursion’s since 2006. I’ve loved every version - until now. This was my go-to everyday shoe. Sturdy, supportive, comfortable. I have always had 2 pairs, one for inside, one for outside and when they wore out I just bought the next version. One of the reasons I’ve faithfully worn these shoes for 18 years is that I have a heel lift (due to scoliosis) that I have to wear - it is supposed to slip under the sole - this new version instead of a removable foam sole, it is a thinner sticky sole. I can lift it, but it left glue residue on my lift just from test fitting. Another reason, is that it supported my lower but not flat arches without pain - the new version of this shoe has a hard lump in slightly the wrong spot - I can ... MoreI have been wearing Saucony’s, and especially Excursion’s since 2006. I buy a wide, and have always appreciated the ability to get a black sneaker in a wide size, which this version still does, however they are narrower then past versions, more like a wider regular shoe then a true wide. I have compared them to the two older versions of this shoe that I have and they are significantly different, and unfortunately for the worse. Except for when I was pregnant and needed an extra wide, I haven’t even bothered to try on other sneakers in 18 years. I don’t know what to do now, because these are just not it.

Great for the neutral striker
17 April 2024

I have been buying the Excursion TR for a number of years. Their wide width and sizing up a half size work okay though they are still a tad bit narrow.Hover they do work for my neutral striking bunions feet. What I will complain about: the poor wear of the uppers. The mesh often wears out and the heel collar wears to the plastic! This happens when the treads have barely shown any wear at all!

Great shoes!
23 May 2024

I recently bought these shoes and liked them so much I bought two more pairs in other colors. I really like the fit and the comfort. In addition, my orthotics fit comfortably inside (I have very low arches) without removing the insole. The toe box is roomy and I have no problems with my feet when I wear these for walking and hiking. I tend to get plantar faciitis, but not with these shoes. I highly recommend them.

Narrow toebox, no cushion
25 April 2024

These shoes are really attractive but very uncomfortable. As others have said, they are tight and narrow. I wish I would have bought a half size bigger. Even if I had, I still think these would be uncomfortable. Padding is very thin, and unfortunately the liner is glued down so you can't remove it to insert a thicker liner or orthotic. They also bothered my achilles (I have achillles tendonitis) as the back is high and stiff. I really wanted these to work, I even bought a 1/2" riser insert to try and fix the achilles issue, but I can't wear them for anything more than running a few errands - my feet literally hurt when I took them off after a day of standing around at an outdoor event.

Rainy wet conditions? Take a HARD PASS!!
24 July 2024

Slippery conditions, and these shoes are a complete fail. I've slipped on wet rocks with these shoes multiple times, causing minor and major injury. For a trail running shoe, I expected better grip (Some grip would have been nice!), performance, and utility. These are a complete disaster. Comfortable, but useless for their intended purpose. Absolute garbage.

Repeat Purchaser
24 October 2023

I have had at least 10 pairs of this particular style over the years. They are my everyday work shoe and my leisure shoe as well. I wear them 7 days a week. They are true to size and provide great arch support. I use my older versions for gardening and going to the gym. I've tried a couple of other brands but I prefer Saucony. Plus, aside from being functional, they are a beautiful shoe.

Runs Narrow
31 December 2023

This was first time to purchase Saucony shoes. I wear an 8M always. This pair runs narrow. I can’t wear them all day without the side of my foot hurting. I even loosened the shoelaces. Also, for the price, you would think there would be some cushioning on the insoles. They are very thin and flat. I took them out and bought some that have more cushion, which meant more expense for these shoes.

The best shoes on the market
29 June 2024

I am waiting on the second pair of trail runners. I purchased in the last six months. I just wanted to have a nice clean out. I have two pairs currently the one pair I wear 12 to 14 hours a day as we are renovating an old home I am on my feet. It has been several times. I looked down and had nails and the soles and my shoes but the soul are so nice and thick on these Has never reached my foot day. I was extremely tired and I looked down and I had stupidly put on a pair of sketchers. That is my feet so tired. I never get tired and my feet and legs feel good at the end of the day I wish I could Find a pair of 15s so I tried a pair of 16s this time. Some shoes are amazing thank you for keeping affordable and they are true to fit. Somebody had told me they were size ... MoreI am waiting on the second pair of trail runners.
