I'm a former cross country marathoner who doesn't have enough knee left to run, so I pour my energies into trail walking through the hills and trails of South Australia. These are a genuinely exceptional shoe for technical and rocky terrain.Super comfortable, quite stiff due to the rock plate, and the tread keeps you sure-footed on even the wettest days on rock. Good for short-to-medium distances. The tread is super aggressive, so not ideal if you're on pavement before a trail.Toe box runs a bit narrow, should be good for most, but I have wide feet and it's just a mistake I made.

Very happy with the Peregrines. Lightweight and responsive. Compared to previous generations the uppers feel much lighter and more breathable.They’re definitely on the stiffer end, so maybe not the most comfortable everyday shoe or best shoe for super long runs. Still, for the price and value I think the trade off is worthwhile.Triple Black colorway looks great in person IMO. Fits true to size and comparable to other Sauconys.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great pair of trail shoes which is also cheap, but it's a bit different from the previous version.The Peregrine 12 feel like a flat racer, with a trail outsole.Again, fast, grippy and responsive, but not forgiving in terms of how much they "tax" your muscles (especially your hamstrings).I would suggest to take it easy the first times you use them, to get used to the 4mm drop.Anyway, over here you can watch the video of my review.https://youtu.be/MY0YDAVpJio
Excellent stability, excellent grip. The fit to my foot could be better. I chose the 2E wide version as I have wide feet. This helped with the correct sizing. There is not a lot of padding but enough for a 5k run. The back of the heel is very hard and would benefit from additional padding. Wearing thick socks has so far avoided any blisters or rubbing. For this reason I would be careful with a snug fit and look at a size slightly larger.
I've worn Peregrines for the last 8 years, with my last pair being the excellent version 10. Everything about that shoe was awesome, apart from one thing. The insole slipped forward inside the shoe when it got wet. Now, we have a new shoe which is lighter, has basically the same sole, and a new lacing system, with the biggest change for me being the removal of the everun top sole, now replaced with the thicker, bouncer insole made from the excellent pebax foam.Pros; the weight. These shoes feel so light on foot, and are fast to boot. The grip is excellent, just as the previous versions have been. The upper is comfortable and once the laces are pulled tight enough, the first impression is of a good lockdown. These shoes are still well protected, offering toe and heel protection that deflects rocks and stones.Cons; the big fat grey elephant in the room... the noise. These things are like wearing a pair of castanets on your feet. I assume the thicker, stiffer, topsole has a pocket of space between it and the top of the midsole. Around 50% of each my runs so far have been accompanied by a loud slapping noise as the foot impacts the ground. It's really off putting. This happens on all forms of running from climbs up technical trail, to running fast on undulating trail. So much so that I've actually considered seeing if I can return the shoes to the store. The other issue is that very comfortable upper. On off camber trails and trods, the sole remains planted thanks to the awesome grip, but the lack of lockdown in the midfoot (this was nailed in version 10) means that my foot rotates inside the shoe instead of twisting with the terrain. It's no good.Other than those two issues, the shoe is great. It's comfortable, nimble, fast. Just be careful where you take them and wear ear plugs.I had hoped to wear them on a 50 mile race I'm training for, but there's no way I could stand the noise. Maybe the xodus ultra will be noise free.Good shoe, could and should be better.
I put about 400km on my first pair so far (they still have plenty of tread), and will probably buy another after this one wears out.They were a bit tight/narrow at first, but they stretched out a bit after the first 20k and are pretty comfy now.They're light, handle well on technical trails/rock/snow, and strike a good compromise between enough cushion to be comfy but enough sensitivity to handle well on technical terrain. They also dry really quickly after creek crossings.Also, if you go through 3-4 pairs of shoes every year, it's nice that these don't break the bank.

I've just bought two more pairs.The upper is brilliant, very light and tough. It is thin, stretchy and friction-free around the toes, and more rigid and plasticky around the ankle, forming a secure and comfortable collar. The laces can be fully secured by doing a runners loop and using the lace-lock elastic.The Pwrrun midsole is excellent, springy and light, although I find that its softness means it can lose its shape over pointy stones, which can be uncomfortable, and it gets a little thin for running more than a couple of hours at a time. I can't tell if this is more to do with the material or the design of the cleats, which are large and wide-spaced.All up, it really is a great shoe. If we could have the ideal Saucony trail runner, I reckon it might be a Peregrine upper on an Xodus midsole.
Best of the Saucony Peregrine line in my opinion. So good, in fact, that I purchased an identical 2nd pair earlier today. I almost did not purchase my 1st shoe due to average review by some. So glad I pulled the trigger:) This is an awesome shoe! In my shoe rotation, I also use I believe a Peregrine 10, but this Peregrine 12 is a step up for many reasons: Lightweight. Less constraining. More springy. Overall a significantly better running experience on asphalt surfaces. I've been running for over 50 years and I am glad that Saucony is still producing excellent running shoes!
Recently purchased on clearance sale. Long time user of HOKA shoes which are always amazing, but these caught my eye, had seen these on trail numerous times and was looking for show with some more aggressive tread needed in certain conditions. Have worn these on 2 short overnight backpacking trios and have been impressed. My biggest concern was toe spacing but am very happy with toe spacing, not cramped feeling. Tread on the shoe is excellent especially in wet, muddy and snowy trail conditions. The shoe was quite supportive and stable. The foam insole is maybe the best and really adds to the comfy but not squishy ride. This shoe will have a place for me and look forward to keeping Saucony in mind on future shoe considerations.
