I already have the Xodus Ultra and it's been my favorite all-round trail running shoes for some time now. For me, out of over a dozen different trail shoes I have, it has the best combination of weight, comfort, speed, traction, and ruggedness in one shoe. The only thing that could have been improved was a more snug fit in the forefoot/toe-box area and the Xodus Ultra 2 delivers. It's a bit too roomy in that area with the Xodus Ultra and requires me to wear double socks and/or lace down real tightly.I recently got the Peregrine 13 and it's great for speed and grip on technical trails, but I find it a bit snug and narrow in the forefoot area although it's fine for runs of up to 10 miles. The Xodus Ultra 2's fit is right in between the two for me and provides a virtually perfect fit from the forefoot through the heel. It's stable yet nimble and speedy although there are lighter and faster trail shoes out there, including the Peregrine 13.Although this may be subjective, the Xodus Ultra 2 also looks better than the Xodus Ultra. The upper on the XU2 is markedly improved over the XU not only in fit, but also in the looks department and in breathability. It isn't that hot in SoCal yet but it'll get there and I'm sure I'll appreciate the improved breathability when the time comes. From what I can tell, the midsole and outsole look and feel exactly the same as Xodus Ultra, but the improved fit of the upper does make a noticeable difference in the ride. I feel more secure in the runs - especially going downhill and when making sharp turns - and makes me feel I can run faster more effortlessly. I'm very happy with the Xodus Ultra 2 and will look forward to each trail run in it.

So far so good. I have about 60 miles on my new Exodus Ultra 2's. I like the fit, no too wide or too thin, just right for my foot shape. Plenty of cushion and grippy tread. I trail run and backpack with them. They are holding up well to the abuse so far. I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

This is a great shoe with a nice fit and good cushion. The Xodus Ultra (v1) had a collar that really dug into my ankle, bu that has been mostly fixed in v2. I only have two complaints: (1) with the "sleeve" that wraps around your foot, I suspect these shoes will be hot in the summer and (2) I wish Saucoy would go to a regular lacing system with eyelets since I believe this would allow me to better dial in the fit.

The Xodus Ultra 2 is a great evolutionary update to the Ultra1, with two small changes that may or may not work for you. 1. Toebox feels a bit more constrained, so be aware the wrap and room is a big more snug. 2. The sensation of the Pebax is a little firmer, or maybe it's that the insole is no longer the same Pwwrun+ one that was in the first, so a bit more stable feeling. On the upside, the heel collar that was a bit too close to the heel bone (malleolus) is now cut down a bit so much less opportunity to irritate. Also a much better looking shoe, everything else is solid on this update. Love it.
I purchased the Exodus 2 to replace my ones, fit is much better in the heel and no side cuff irritation. Love the fit cushion and traction. On my way to hike the New Hampshire portion of the AT
Fantastic trail shoe. A big upgrade to the peregrine line up in my opinion. Cushion is perfect. The upper is very nice and between that and how my heel sits deeper I n the shoes(compared to the peregin12)provided a great lock down. My only complaint is traction could still be better. PNW runner and these will be my go to pair of trails shoes.
Most of my trail running/hiking is here in the PNW. My go to shoe for technical trails with 1000+ feet per mile is usually the Peregrine 12. I came in to REI to check out the Peregrine 13 after hearing it was a little more plush but retained it's technical prowess. I have the V1 of the Exodus and have found stability is not it's strong suit in technical terrain. Super comfortable, but get it in the rocks, roots, and steep decents and it struggled. The P12 is a scalple on terrain like Mailbox Peak's old trail but having some extra cush would be nice.Enter the Exodus 2. I had zero intention of trying another shoe that struggled with PNW technical terrain. I decided to try a pair on and to my surprise Saucony really did improve this shoe. I had zero intention of trying another shoe that struggled with PNW technical terrain. I decided to try a pair on and to my surprise Saucony really did improve this shoe. For a shoe that has such a plush ride with the dual foam platform I was shocked how stable it is.V1 Exodus is lower in stack and the sole on the V2 is a bit more firm. Acording to Saucony nothing changed. I have put on the V1 on one foot and the V2 on the other and there is a difference. If I would have listened to the review on the E2 that some of the Exodus magic was lost with the firmer foam I would have not tried on this shoe.I put the P13 on one foot and the Exodus 2 on the other and spent a good amount of time on the test boulder at REI. The new Exodus was more stable and had better lockdown on the downhill. The Exodus was better in every way. Whatever changes Saucony really made to the E2 really, really work. I walked out the door with the Exodus 2 and it has been excellent on the techincal trails. If you were looking for Peregrine with more cush this is the shoe.I was sad to see the Peregrine move in the direction it did. I still love the P12 for short, nimble, speedy ups, and downs where feel is more important than cushion. Now that the P13 lost that feel you would be crazy not to go with the Exodus 2. For the price you get a shoe you can cover any ground in the PNW with better comfort and stability. I think that this is the best trail/hiking shoe that Saucony has made to date. Having several different trail shoes to choose from I find myself using the E2 all the time. The Exodus 2 is a game changer. Great ride, good feel, great stability, and highly versatile.
I am so impressed, these shoes are so amazing! I do some trail running in Southern California and love the hills. I have not tried these shoes in mud yet but on rock and up hard sandy hills these have been outstanding. They are comfortable and my feet are loving them. I may have found my #1 brand of shoes...
I LOVE the original Xodus Ultra trail shoe. I was excited for the v2 of this model. Wasn't much I didn't like about the original other than the laces would loosen up, and you had to tighten them after an hour or so of running. Saucony updated the upper to fix that in the V2 model, and they did a good job with it, however the material change for the upper is not nearly as durable. It holds onto moisture and weakens quickly, then started to tear after only a 100 miles of trail use. I now have holes along the inner sections of the shoes where it bends. Everything else is fantastic, but a shoe is worthless if the upper can't outlast the life of the sole. The shoe is really comfortable on the trails, has pop and is fast, it's just really unfortunate the upper has issues.
