The design and mechanical operation of a constant velocity or CV joint requires a specific grease or lubricant to ensure proper function and service life. Due to the purely oscillating/hinged movements, shock loads and low speeds, a typical CV joint/knuckle operates under constant boundary lubricant conditions. These boundary conditions require a grease or lubricant that has greater focus on the EP and solid lubricant content of the grease than typical industrial or automotive greases. Furthermore high quality CV joint greases need to resist the intensity of centrifugal forces that all joints/knuckles are subjected to whilst in service. SCA CV Joint grease is manufactured using a synergistic blend of molybdenum disulphide and graphite boundary lubricants in quantities that would not be suitable for a bearing. The higher treat of solid lubricants in the SCA CV Joint Grease ensure that the CV joint/knuckle is able to withstand the torque loads and shock loading of todays high performance vehicles which together with lack of grease, ultimately, are responsible for the untimely failure of CV joints. To counter the centrifugal forces and the tendency for the grease to be flung from the knuckle, where it is most needed, the SCA CV Joint Grease a far higher polymer and tackifier content than traditional lubricating greases. This polymer and tackifier greatly increases the ability of the grease to cling to the knuckle and resist fling off but also greatly increases water resistance or water washout should the boot tear or be exposed to the elements.
