I had a Stihl moisture meter but was not happy with it auto shut off every 15 seconds. Then i brought the Scandia moisture meter and very happy with it. Has prebuild settings for commonn Australia hardwood just selct a b c or d. Has hold button so you can record the reading without meter shutting down. Also uses 9v battery. One good tip when using these meters is split the timber before you check moisture as the timer will be much higher on the inside. The outside can be dry as a bone and the inside can be anywhere from 8% to 60% ideal 15 to 20%. Great handy meter highly recommended.

Picked this up today. Super simple to use. Connect the 9v battery. Turn on and press mode button to select type of wood you are testing:A - Ironbark, Sugar Gum, Yellow & Grey BoxB - Red Gum, Jarrah, BlackbuttC - Stringybark, Messmate, Tas OakD - Pine, Beech, Manuka, PoplarRemove protective cap that protects the prongs. Gentle push prongs into firewood and increase pressure (not too much though) and then it gives a digital reading. Press hold button to get a stable hold (if required). Place protective cap back on. Bingo bongo, job done.
Works as expected, measures seem ok
