Big fan of these so far. I used them on a day trip of single pitch, and a red rocks trip on multi pitch. They are quite comfortable, fit great in cracks, and are pretty good on edges and face climbing. I tried laced Miura and was disappointed in it's edging, but these are so much better. The back third (maybe half?) of the sole is a bit soft compared to other shoes, so you might notice some muscle fatigue until you work up those muscles more. I wear 10.5US, 44 Scarpa, 42.5-43 La Sportiva. 44 fits well in these.

What a surprise these were. Most Scarpa shoes don't fit my heel well but this one sure did. I typically wear women's shoes b/c I have a narrow foot and my early warning here is that the men's version is a little roomy. But overall, the heel and toe box fit my narrow foot well. It's the mid foot that's a bit loose. Nonetheless, I can climb very well in these shoes have almost no problems. They're very comfortable and inspired a lot of confidence in my climbing immediately. This is a great shoe. Do not overlook this one. It can likely do most anything but if you downsize a lot for bouldering or hard sport you won't wan to to use them for traditional or crack climbing. Since they fit me a little bit, I will likely use them for everything. Way to go Scarpa: this one is ... MoreWhat a surprise these were. I’m writing for these boots below (can’t find it in Influenster): Scarpa Kailash Plus Gore-Tex Backpacking Boots I bought these boots a couple of years ago for my long day hike and multi day backpacking. These boots are very versatile and comfortable. They withstand heat, snow, mud, stepping over stones in creeks, they’re also waterproof, has great ankle support, and has excellent grip. I normally always have blisters, rubbing spots and hurting feet only after hiking through one mountain, but these boots are very well padded so I feel more stable and my feet felt light weight. They’re really comfy and offers the support and functionality for long hikes, but they required very little break in time. However, these boots fits big though, so you might need to go ... MoreI’m writing for these boots below (can’t find it in Influenster): Scarpa Kailash Plus Gore-Tex Backpacking Boots I bought these boots a couple of years ago for my long day hike and multi day backpacking. I haven’t had these long, so durability is still yet to be tested but everyone I know with them has had them for a year+. I love the laces, super easy to personalize the fit. Shoes broke in after just 2 sessions. I wear a 41 street shoe and bought the 40.5 and they fit perfect. The edging is next level and I love actually being able to toe hook. The build quality of scarpa is unmatched, I will be hard pressed to but anyone else’s shoes.
I wear size 8.5-9 street shoe/ sportiva tx3/ 42 Miura vcs(baggy but comfy).Okay so due to sizing availability I bought the Instinct VS in 41.5 and Instinct lace in 41 and the sportiva Solution in 41. These are my try-on impressions.Instinct VS 41.5- perfect tight fit. Foot slides in and heel cup is tight. Toes slightly curled.Instinct Lace 41- Foot slides in with some hefty pulling on heel loops. Heel cup tight af. No dead space. Toes curled up. Pain.Solution 41- slips on nicely. Tight in toe box. Dead space in heal. Farting noise when walking around lol. Nope.I sent the instinct vs and solutions back. The instinct lace is really tight, but I wanted a tight shoe after not going tight enough on my Miuras. I was a little worried the VS would break in and not be ... MoreI wear size 8.5-9 street shoe/ sportiva tx3/ 42 Miura vcs(baggy but comfy).Okay so due to sizing availability I bought the Instinct VS in 41.5 and Instinct lace in 41 and the sportiva Solution in 41. I was a little worried the VS would break in and not be quite tight enough. Anyways hope this helps. I?m psyched to climb in them and I?ll update this after they?re broken in.My gear head Robert was very helpful as well!
These are my third pair of shoes. Coming from the Miuras, I had pretty high expectations for these Scarpas. My first day out in them I took a couple very surprising falls on warm up routes from foot slips. I found the sensitivity to be lacking in comparison to the Miuras when working with smaller foot holds. It took me a while to figure out the best way to work with these shoes, and now that I have, I'm pretty confident in them, but I don't think I'd buy them again.I think it goes without saying that if you primarily climb crack and slab, these are the wrong shoes. If you like steep and sporty, they're a solid choice, but I think the Miuras are better all around.
These shoes are actually the Women's Instinct Lace-up and not the VS's pictured. The fit is about the same as the VS, but with more ability to adjust for comfort or performance. The heel is a little different, but the performance was great on a trip to Joshua Tree. I placed my heel on a small protrusion and the it didn't budge as moved I moved my hands to some small crimps. I wouldn't recommend these for smearing out of the box, but for aggressive overhanging climbs and small foot chips, it's a champ. My shoe sizes:Scarpa Instincts (VS, VSR, SR, and Women's VS) 39.5Madrock Remora size 6.5Unparallel Vim/Regulus 7.5
I climb about 3x a week in the gym and about every other weekend outdoors. I bought these and a pair of Katana Lace climbing shoes at the same time, love them both! Very minimal wear on these shoes after about 3 weeks of solid climbing, so I'm excited about their durability. I mainly use the Instincts for bouldering and they have such good control and I feel like I have great sensitivity compared to other shoes. I highly recommend these shoes if you're looking for high-quality shoes for a great price! The sizing was a bit weird... I have these in a 44.5 EU and I wear a 44 EU in La Sportiva. I definitely wouldn't go any smaller on these shoes, they fit perfectly and have stretched just a tiny bit since I've gotten them. I only know that because my right foot is ... MoreI climb about 3x a week in the gym and about every other weekend outdoors. I definitely wouldn't go any smaller on these shoes, they fit perfectly and have stretched just a tiny bit since I've gotten them. I only know that because my right foot is slightly bigger than my left and at first, I had to take my right shoe off after every climb, but after breaking them in, I can wear them as long as I want before taking them off.
I bought the same size as my Scarpa Meastro shoes (EU43.5) and the length fit well, but unfortunately, the shoe is very pointy compared to the Meastro and angles sharply down from the big to towards the little toe. This simply does not fit my foot shape, so no firm conclusions. They are marketed as a "wide" shoe, and they may well be wide at the ball of the foot, but the space for all but the big toe may be too small for many feet (I guess). For reference, I also have Katanas in EU42 which are fairly narrow on my foot but do actually work well for bouldering. Will send them back for a refund. Usual excellent service from Rock and Run.
I must've tried on 20 pairs before finding these! I realized I need the LACE rather than velcro since my heels are quite narrow, and will slip out with any other type of shoe. (I found La Sportivas to have the largest heel cup by far. I've had 3 other Scarpas and they are the best fit for me).I upgraded from the Scarpa Boostic and these were definitely a more aggressive fit, yet they never felt uncomfortable even on the first try. Immediately they felt sturdier and stickier. They are slightly less flexible in the middle which gave me the stability I needed on chips and edges. My toe hooks improved a thousand percent with the rubber toe box. And the clincher - they don't slip out on even sharp heel hooks (which I do a lot) like most other shoes I've tried. Note that I mostly boulder indoors, but I can see these holding up well outside.
