This product grips rock incredibly well, and is awesome for long approaches. The issue is that the soles started leaking off within the first two months of use, and now there is a cut/crack that goes from the sole of the boot all the way up to the rand. The durability of these boots for the Canadian Rockies, does not pass the test.

I finally got around to purchasing these Scarpa Mescalito GTX approach shoes a month ago and they have lived up to my high expectations. I have worn them on multiple hikes / scrambles and they have performed perfectly. They were immediately comfortable and have easy coped with multiple days out in the hills. Thoroughly recommend.

I wanted to love these boots. I tried them in Patagonia and backpacking in Colorado where I live. They are durable and extremely stiff which is what I wanted. The toe box is tiny and there is a large seam on the heal - both of which caused me to have the worst blisters of my life (I have never gotten blisters until these shoes). Most likely my feet, they may or may not work for you.
A reasonably lightweight yet sturdy, comfortable and accomplished walking boot for the serious walker, fell climber and mountaineer for most conditions except where you need crampons as they are not crampon rated. But if you want a serious boot with the greater comfort you get from a boot with a more flexible sole then this is the boot for you. Top class fit, finish and materials - look like they are built to last. As I am around a size 7.5 the boots size 8 are a little on the big side for me.
The boots feel good and look great. I haven't taken them out for a hike yet, but just trying them on give me a lot of confidence that they will be great out on the hills.
They have been excellent. I already have the 3/4 boot version and although not the most waterproof design, even with goretex they are a good fit. I bought the the “shoe” version a 1/2 size bigger and the fit is perfect for the narrower foot shape. Build quality is very good…water resistance needs to be seen! Haven’t used them in wet conditions yet. Would definitely recommend them.
Perfect fit and comfortable straight out of the box. Required no 'walking in' whatsoever. Grip wise, i've never had a pair of shoes that grip like these, wet or dry. Very, very pleased.
Have worn these shoes for a few walks now and they are great. At first there was a little lifting of the heel which I could feel might have developed into a blister but now that they are worn in that seems to have gone. I think that is an advantage of natural materials. The grip from the sole is very good and the whole show seems solid and supportive. I love them and also have the boot version.
As ever with outdoor gear you get what you pay for. These are quite expensive but they are really comfortable straight out of the box, well built, and seem to be wearing well. I wanted a stiff soled, waterproof approach shoe and these have delivered. When these wear out I will likely buy the same again.
