The multi-award winning Spin Ultra is the perfect choice for moderate to ultra distance runs, and has quickly become SCARPA's best-selling trail running model. Hitting the sweet spot between precision and sensitivity and cushioning and protection is not easy, but the Spin Ultra does just that with the dual-density EVA midsole paired with our Vibram Velox LB Max outsole. This combination underfoot, paired with the all-synthetic, lightweight yet supportive upper construction makes the Spin Ultra ideal for just about any trail running adventure, from shorter runs close to home to ultra distance training or races in the mountains, and everything in between. The Vibram outsole features 4mm deep lugs and Megagrip rubber, which offers confidence-inspiring traction in loose dirt and mud, as well as on rock. The mesh and welded PU upper and Sockfit construction is light and breathable but still provides foot-wrapping support and a secure fit. Attention to detail is evident in the less prominent but still functionally key features like the Hidden Lace Pocket and molded TPU toecap. All of these elements come together seamlessly in this go-to, quiver-of-one trail running shoe.

Good shoe. Hard to get your hands on so its great to see skimo/sky run caring them. Ive run through a few pairs and they hold up well through the 50k distance. Toe box is roomy but not too baggy all around good shoe, like a lot of SCARPA trail shoes, it doesnt knock your socks off when you see it on the wall but is super reliable and will take a high volume of miles before you retire them!

Given my most recent set of trail shoes were 2+ years old with finger sized holes, I decided to pick up these bad boys as the snow rapidly disappears on the Wasatch front. On their first couple of spins (ultra), these have worked really nicely. To choose a couple of words, these shoes feel solid and stable, keeping my heels static while providing enough forefoot width for my phat feet. On runs mixing dirt, gravel and packed snow, I never encountered any slippage. Felt appropriate for my midfoot striking running style.

My second pair of these. Their fit is perfect (at least for me) and they hold up extremely well to the rough, difficult hiking here in the NH Whites. Material quality is top notch and I find the soles to be very “sticky” on a variety of surfaces. They have outlasted and outperformed other shoes in the same genre - well worth their cost. Highly recommended.

I use these for running and hiking - hate the stretchy laces so replaced them - a fantastic all rounder. This is my 3rd pair - 1st pair over 1000km, 2nd pair getting towards 900km though they did develop an annoying squeak after 300, hoping my new pair behave like the first!
Right out of the box and on the trail for 5 miles. Extremely comfortable, sure footed. Thinking about getting another pair. I like how you can fine tune the fit with half sizes
I bought these shoes to replace my much-loved, much-used, but worn out Scarpa Moraine shoes. I could not find any new Moraines in stock, so tried the Spin Ultra, and glad I did. They are light but still very supportive for my 70-year old feet and knees. I wear them on fast 4-to-6 mile walks. Will probably use them for street jogging in the coming months. I have just recently completed a few 5-k runs on a treadmill, so may want to start running outside. Never thought I’d start running at age 70, but these shoes will help.
Hot Springs, Arkansas has miles of trails. Scarpa shoes have been a joy. I have inherited narrow feet, high arch from my mother. These shoes have great cushioning and minimize rolling ankles.
I got them 6 months ago directly from SCARPA and the soles are already worn through. Yes, holes in both soles. SCARPA's response: "The photos of the soles that you have provided are consistent with moderately used, six-month old shoes, and there is nothing irregular about the wear pattern, lugs, or attachment of the outsole to the shoe. One final note – the outsoles on the Spin Ultra are made using a rubber called Vibram Megagrip, which is a compound that excels in friction on both dry and wet surfaces but as a trade off is generally less durable." Meaning they are designed NOT to last. VIBRAM is junk these days and SCARPA is no longer the brand it used to be.FYI I weight less than 170lbs and I don't do any running, jogging or even hiking these days. Recommend sizing up at least 0.5 sizes or a full size, wish I had. Toes hit the front etc but otherwise really nice padding, good grip on trails and rocks, breathe well too. No arch support I?d like that next time around. Wish I?d known to size up, but that?s on me.
I have mixed feelings about these shoes. I've had them for about 1 year and the comfort and flexibility is good. The design looks ok and the sole is very comfortable and has good traction. They run small, given the European calculation I picked the larger size and it is still a bit too small. The downside is that 1 year in the upper is shredded. Holes everywhere! It's still wearable but looks awful and I think in the next 6 months it will probably develop a terminal rip. I only do about 10-20 miles per week and my last pair of trail shoes (montrails) lasted twice as long at a lower price. I have also noticed that a lower drop shoe causes me less pain long term. Something to consider...
