I use this every day. I keep everything in a separate container and at the end of the day i make sure everything is in small pieces then mix the waste and the bokashi in. Done in less than a minute!! We have a small under sink cabinet where the pipes stick out a little too much for the bucket to sit in the cabinet. If you have a regular size cabinet and pipes allow the 6 inches needed to push it in then it will fit perfectly.

I love it because we live on 250 acres of Nevada alkalai calicci clay, only a few spots of rabbit brush will grow in our soil. My garbage can bins are unsatisfactory, and full. This has been the ideal answer to my organic waste problem. The acidity of the bokashi is the ideal solution for tha acidity of the calicci clay.

I use this every day. I keep everything in a separate container and at the end of the day i make sure everything is in small pieces then mix the waste and the bokashi in. Done in less than a minute!! I chose Happy Farmer b/c it is small and I can keep it in the carport shared with neighbors (actually meant for indoor use). One upside is that you can compost meat scraps which other systems don't allow. One downside is you must use Happy Farmer compost starter with this system which is expensive ($12 a bag). You don't mix green matter in. This system only takes food scraps and the compost starter. I don't like the smell of the starter-has sweet and salty smell. Material does not completely decompose. Will look like pickled veggies. Then you have to bury it in soil for at least 2 weeks before use or 2 months if you want the material to break down completely. I've had mine ... I've had mine for 4 weeks and have not emptied it yet. You are supposed to drain the liquid that collects on the bottom out of a spout every 2-3 days but I have not had any liquid. The liquid mixed with water is supposed to be good for plants. When I go to add new material, I see white stuff on top of the old which is supposed to be a sign that it is decomposing according to the directions. A sweet and sour smell means decomposition is happening and foul odor means it's just rotting. Mine smells sweet and sour but I find the odor very unpleasant. I wish it would just smell like dirt like regular compost systems. I have no idea how long it will take for the material to decompose. Overall, I think this is a good alternative for those who can't place a large compost bin outside their property. You must be willing to purchase the compost starter and put up with the smell.
