The yarn I give 5 stars but marked down due to incorrect advertisement. The yarn is a beautiful colour, love it. This is advertised by knitting network as a DK, this is not a DK
nor does it crochet up as a DK, as per the yarn label it is definitely a fingering yarn. Yes I could send it back however I loved the colour for the project. Sadly for me and my
purse due to it being advertised as a DK and it clearly is not I am going to have to buy another ball.

Beautiful Gradient Color Changes

I used this yarn to make the Crochet Between the Lines Shawl by Tammy Canavan-Soldaat. The fiber blend was soft and had great stitch definition and the color changes
were gradual and very beautiful. However, I felt that the knots in the plies to accommodate the color changes were bulky and extremely frizzy. They show up in the work. In
addition, the yarn splits terribly so working with a very small hook, as I was, became an exercise in retracing my stitches and looking for plies that had been dropped. I am
sure that this yarn will work very well with a larger hook. Generally I am pleased with my project but I must now go back with a needle-threader and try to draw t... Show more

I had been wanting to buy this for *so long* but it had always been sold out! (Clearly a popular choice - and for good reason!)The colour change in these is absolutely
stunning. I'm working on a mosaic blanket right now, working it in a gradient, and watching the slow colour change is mesmerising. The only thing I can fault is that when the
colour starts to change, there's a relatively obvious join between one part of a colour and the next, and it looks a bit fuzzy and unkempt. It's no big deal, though. It's still a
gorgeous yarn and I'm loving working with it.

Love to Whirl!
10 May 2019
Fell in love with Whirl - Soft thread on arthritic fingers and soft color changes. Using Licorice Yum-yum, I would suddenly notice the subtle lightening when only a few minutes before it had been just a bit darker! I'm making Lilla Bjorn's circle mandala vest for my grand-daughter and can't wait to see it on her. This pattern works up with one cake. Though I'm working from the middle of the cake with the darker shade first, this would be just as beautiful if started from the outside with white. So much yardage on a single cake, there is no concern for color changes that would occur if adding a new cake.... Show more

Pretty but hard to work with.
1 October 2017
This yarn splits easily and can thus can be a real pain to work with. My primary reason for choosing this yarn was the delicious color gradients. It is billed as gradually changing colors through the changing of one strand at a time. One of the three differing flavors I purchased changed beautifully, one changed rather oddly due to the severity of the colors involved, and the third skein had a series of knots in roughly the center that too the yarn from 3-3 strands to 6 of one color, and it stayed that way for way longer than it should have due to yet more knots. Then abrubtly went from the 6 strands of one color to 3-3 into the next color. The resulting look in the project I was making was so awful I ripped it out and had to cut and change on my own to get it into ... MoreThis yarn splits easily and can thus can be a real pain to work with. Also these skeins are very hard to work with if you try to due a center pull. Overall I was very pleased with the finished project but way too much time spent getting the yarn to work smoothly.... Scheepjes hit delicious colors combos out of the park!
28 September 2018
The color combinations of these whirls (combinations in wheels of cotton and acrylic yarn in such a delicate gauge!) make the production of a light wrap, combined squares, or just long wide "crone-shawls" a utter JOY to knit! I keep several projects of the same general shape going at the same time, each of different fiber combinations of yarn. I work with merino in fingering or sock, with cotton and acrylic when it's Scheepjes, and with more exotic animal fibers and silk, moving from one light texture to another, depending on how my hands feel when my daily "chores" are out of the way. The reward at the end of those chores is a the encouragement I need. Scheepjes whirls don't tangle on me and I usually start at the outside and knit my way to the middle, enjoying the ... MoreThe color combinations of these whirls (combinations in wheels of cotton and acrylic yarn in such a delicate gauge!) make the production of a light wrap, combined squares, or just long wide "crone-shawls" a utter JOY to knit! Second time purchasing - Won't be the last!
13 April 2020
This was the second time I purchased a Scheepjes Whirl (both times from Webs), and I really enjoy this brand. The weight, strength and softness of the yarn, (and the color!) have made it an instant favorite. The amount of yarn per cake makes it economically worth it as well. Even on the second project, I can tell this won't be the last with this product! Especially, with all of the color combinations. I started looking at this yarn when I took the train to work everyday, it is light weight and easy to pack making it a perfect travel project yarn, and it lasts for a long time, which in this case is a great thing! Also, Webs service keeps me coming back, rather than purchasing from other online retailers!... Show more

Won't buy again
6 January 2021
I've been drooling over this yarn since it came out, and just now have had the chance to use it. The colors and drape of this yarn are lovely. The places where the color changes (and the threads are connected) are a mess. Every single color change has an inch or more of ragged fluff. I did a little looking at it appears that this is considered acceptable by Scheepjes standards. On Ravelry, they suggest just rolling that fuzzy part between your fingers. I did that but there is still a noticeable thick spot, even after the yarn has been knit or crocheted. Overall, I'm disappointed in this yarn. There are better long gradient options available....
