Out of the blue, our (~5yr oldSchlage Camelot dead bolt totally jammed and had us locked out of our backyard (from the inside of our house). After taking the cover off and jiggling the locking mechanism (a lot!!!) with a flat head screw driver, we we’re finally able to get the deadbolt to unlock. After removing it from the door jamb, and testing to seeing if it would get stuck again, it did - randomly getting stuck so we were NOT going to put it back on our door. Long story…..Amazon had the exact same keypad $25 cheaper than Home Depot so we ordered it and just installed it back on our door. Honestly, our confidence in this product is extremely low, and I’m keeping the warranty/registration paperwork in case this issue happens with this newer product.

We love our new smart door lock! It was absolutely worth the wait while it was backordered. It was very easy install. Easier than I expected. It is attractive and solid. It paired easily with Alexa. We're still struggling to get it fully paired with Google (it will tell us if it is locked but it won't unlock the door). We wanted a smart door lock that also used a key because sometimes technology fails. We also wanted a door lock that did not require additional technology (like purchasing a hub). This lock absolutely fits the bill!Highly recommend.

Operates smoothly and effortlessly, so long as properly installed. Schlage website does a good job of showing and controlling status of individual locks. Support from Google Home/Assistant is primate and prone to lost WiFi connections--while Schlage site still has good access. Connecting locks to 2.4GHz WiFi was easy as pie, and linking the account to Google Home caused immediate upload of all details. Main disadvantage is a feature it does not have--not a defect. The lock does not sense whether the door is closed or not quite closed. Some of the lock's features like auto lock or time-based locking, would be usable and useful only if you were protected from locking the deadbolt on a door that was still open. This is an excellent lock I have used in a rental unit and in my own home. It is very easy to set up access codes, both permanent and temporary ones, via the phone app. You can also see the lock history, turn on or off notifications when the lock is used (for each entry code), and lock or unlock from the app as well. I use the app to control 3 of these locks in different locations and it couldn't be easier. The only pain is that you need to change the batteries every 9 months or so, but from reviews I have read, other brands are way worse. Only wish it wasn't so expensive now. Previously bought it in 2021 for about $80 less. Still the best smart lock in my opinion.
This lock is just what we wanted. It has the capability for us to program in different codes for different people then notifies us which one has accessed the unit in real time. We live in a condo and the board requires us to provide them with access in case of emergency. We don't feel comfortable providing a key for anytime access, we want to know who and when someone has entered. The only downside to the lock is the actual deadbolt is loose in the slot so sometimes does not lock as it doesn't line up with the hole in the frame correctly. I also wish it would give us notifications if it is not locked after a certain hour of the evening. Otherwise it is a great lock and glad we have it.
Our entire building was upgraded to this lock over the winter. The locks are on exterior doors that are not in direct sunlight. In the past month or so, once the Florida heat and humidity kicked in, the locks started failing. Primarily the touchpad stops working. Drying them out and cooling them off makes no difference. Resetting the locks doesn't fix it. Some are still controllable via Wi-Fi but the keypad is dead. There's been some kind permanent damage (i.e., something is fried). The only advice from Schlage is either to try their existing fixes or they'll send more locks. They did send some more locks and they failed also. Schlage have not offered to troubleshoot any of the failed locks. It's hard to believe that they don't know what is happening.
I have been waiting for MONTHS for this lock to be in stock! It is very easy to install and connect to wifi. It also doesn't take up a lot space on the door. I purchased this lock before in nickel for another door, so I knew what I was looking for. I was very pleased with that lock. I considered other locks when this one was out of stock for so long. However, the others were either too big and clunky looking or lacked the quality of a solid lock. This one is stylish, the appropriate size, high quality/craftsmanship, and high ratings. If you can get your hands on one, BUY IT!
Ive had this Schlage encode door lock for several years now and the company is sitting on their butts refusing to update the app based upon customer feedback. I spoke to their customer support over five times about the app and they literally told me over the phone that they are not going to change the app. You can program a user code for someone else to use to get in your home but in order to activate that code you only have three choices to do so: Always, Recurring or Temporary. Does this make any sense to you? I don’t want my neighbor to “Always” have access to my home. Sometimes there are packages that are on my porch while Im at work so which of these options makes sense to you? Always…. NO! Temporary is a range of dates between which the code will be ... MoreIve had this Schlage encode door lock for several years now and the company is sitting on their butts refusing to update the app based upon customer feedback. Does this make any sense to you? I don’t want my neighbor to “Always” have access to my home. Sometimes there are packages that are on my porch while Im at work so which of these options makes sense to you? Always…. NO! Temporary is a range of dates between which the code will be active. I have to go in to that option and program two dates that I think he will be at my front porch…. NO, THIS IS STUPID AND ISNT RIGHT EITHER!…. Well, the last option is Recurring. NO! I dont need a recurring time period for my beighbor to come over and put boxes in my front door! I just want it ENABLED when he texts me saying he is walking over and I want it DISABLED when he is done and has left… so where is the blue slider for “ENABLED/DISABLED”?????? Customer service says they “will not program that option into the app”!!!! In the Schlage Home app, there are at least four on/off, enable/disable sliders already programmed into the app. Literally, the only thing their programming department would have to do is copy and paste the EXISTING CODE into the section where the enable code options are but for some political agenda SCHLAGE SPECIFICALLY SAID TO ME THAT THEY “WILL NOT PROGRAM THAT OPTION”. This is what happens when you outsource your company to China and you dont have anyjne in a programming department that can copy and paste a few lines of app code to respond to a customers request! “Always” is not an option and should not be listed there! “Enable/Disable” with a slider button for on and off should be there instead but it looks like Schlage is too outsourced and too lazy and defiant to customer requests. Because of this, I am removing their three locks from my home; throwing them in the trash; and finding another company! Pure laziness and incompetence!
The installation was beautifully easy, and I had the lock and a handset I ordered with it in, configured, set up and running in less than an hour in November 2022. I was so hopeful. Suddenly on 12/27/22 the lock lost the WiFi connection, and none of the codes worked. My internet might have briefly been out, but came back on quickly because I could see my installed Nest cameras. I use this for a short term rental property and I was 1,000 miles away. I had to pay a locksmith $265 for an emergency unlock and to make an extra key. I did a full factory reset and started over. It worked again while I was there, then crapped out again today 1/18/23, two days after I left. I tried to edit an access code and it wouldn't save, wouldn't connect. I'm not there so I can't go ... MoreThe installation was beautifully easy, and I had the lock and a handset I ordered with it in, configured, set up and running in less than an hour in November 2022. I'm not there so I can't go through the factory reset process again until March. And I'll have to ask my next 6 renters to get the physical key I have hidden outside, until I can be onsite and install a good old physical lock box. And replace this thing! I'm really disappointed, I wanted so much to like it.
While this lock, when it works, is perfectly fine, we have had two of these in the past two years become completely nonfunctional - no wifi connectivity, non-operational keypad, etc... The first time it happened I contacted Schlage customer service (case number CAS3684061 if anyone from Schlage is lurking) and was assured that they would refund us the cost of a replacement. I ordered the replacement through Build.com on 3/22/22 and waited until 8/12/22 for the item to ship. After swapping locks, I contacted Schlage customer support repeatedly by email and phone to request a return authorization and refund, to complete radio silence. No email replies, no answer to calls where I was sitting on the phone on hold for up to an hour. Whatever is going on with this ... MoreWhile this lock, when it works, is perfectly fine, we have had two of these in the past two years become completely nonfunctional - no wifi connectivity, non-operational keypad, etc...
