C4 Pro Carbon provides several incremental improvements over a C3 Pro
This Schuberth C4 Pro Carbon has met my hopes for fit and function. It fits my XXL square Swedish noggin perfectly. Style on the grey & yellow helmet ain't bad, either. Unlike the gloss finish on my previous C3 Schuberths, the C4 has a "matte" shell finish. While the accumulated scratches and chips on my previous C3s were only cosmetic, it looks like the C4 finish will last much longer without blemishes. Closing the modular chin latch feels like shutting a Mercedes car door. The face shield provides a more solid set of detents than did my prior C3s. The plush interior comfort & solid shell construction provide a comfortable & confident riding experience. The location of the microphone is much less obtrusive than the klunky SCE system in the C3s. The Schuberth C4 seems likely to help with that and makes riding a pleasure along the way.... Show more

Disappointed
I've been looking for a replacement for my Arai for a couple of years and since most of my friends have Schuberth I convinced myself it must be a great helmet especially for the money they ask.First, it is actually several ounces heavier than my Arai helmet which surprised me. But it's certainly not heavy. With my Arai the visor opening is infinitely adjustable so I could always keep it open just a crack. On the Schuberth there are notches and the first notch keeps the shield open too far to be comfortable when going slower than a crawl. Couple this with the fact that there is very little air flow from the chin vent and the cool looking carbon fiber is black and heats up the helmet on hot days and you have a very uncomfortable helmet to use on warm/hot days.I ... It also sits too low on my head and is about down to my eyebrows.I do however love the internal sun visor.Overall I'm very disappointed and wish I knew how to sell this helmet.... Show more

Game Changer !
I'm coming up from the C3 Pro that managed to find it's way to the ground last year in a 3+digit speed deer collision...a test it thankfully passed praise be!The C4 Pro is really a head above even the pretty substantial C3.The action to lift the both the face shield and the sun shade as well as opening the chin bar all work flawlessly and are smoother and tighter in every and all positions. With some 1st stage exhaust work and the bike significantly louder I was concerned with how well the sound system was going to work and was happy to say it was even far greater than I had expected. Music playing is clear even at freeway speeds and the phone works just as well to both hear and speak while the bike is even up into the higher revs of the exhaust note. Both the top ... Both the top and front air vents are way smoother to operate although I feel letting a little more air flow would be better. The new mic is so small it's barely noticeable compared to the old mic boom with the big foam ball on the end of it. It seems to work pretty well despite being tucked in on the side and back away from your mouth.Very stoked to have the new helmet and all the features back it really is a game changer to the whole riding experience!... Great for cooler weather. Like the integrated communication system.
What I liked: the women?s interior is beautiful, comfortable and fairly quiet. I still needed ear plugs in super windy conditions. The visibility is great. Wider from top to bottom allowing me to see my gauges located on the tank with out tipping my head down. Sound was good and I liked the aerodynamic controls. The chin strap was easy to close and adjust. The chin wind piece was Velcro so it could be removed for more air. It was awesome in the colder weather and was very happy. It is made well. What I didn?t like: I had trouble getting it to connect every time I started out. You have to remember to get everything set, Start your bike and then connect. Sometimes it worked just fine other times I had to fuss with why it wasn?t on. My riding buddy became impatient. ... MoreWhat I liked: the women?s interior is beautiful, comfortable and fairly quiet. With gloves on I couldn?t always feel the controls and that may have been part of the problem, for me anyway. Still fine tuning and am confident I?ll get it. While I loved how comfortable I was in cool weather, I found the ventilation was not enough for warm weather so I was flipping the wind shield up when possible to allow more air in even with both vents open. Sometimes it was stuffy. Once going fresh air came in but I would have wanted more adjustments in the venting to allow more air if desired.Over all it was pretty good and very happy to be comfortable in cooler conditions.I?ll probably get a half helmet for summer though.... Great Helmet tight fit
Very snug fit in fact painful at first. After a few weeks it either broke in or I learned to fit it exactly to avoid temple pressure points. My first hybrid helmet. Had to learn to position the chin bar lower which seemed to do the trick. Buckle ratchet system took some practice too. It's very light and quiet. Zero wind intrusion w visor closed. Love that. Vents work great as well. Matches my Guzzi well too. At the sale price its a tremendous value as well.... Show more

If you like being able to hear AFTER the ride, this is your new helmet.
I’ve worn a Schuberth S2 helmet for a couple of years and liked the fit and finish of how the helmet felt while riding at speed. The most important feature for me was how quiet the helmet was on either long or short rides. Protecting my hearing is a high priority for me while I’m riding a motorcycle at 80+ mph. A helmet’s design and acoustics can make a huge difference over time in how much irreversible damage can happen while wearing a ‘loud’ helmet. So as result I have a minimum of a dozen of those little memory foam ear plugs tucked away in my tank bag and jacket pockets to insulate my hearing protection from the wind noise generated at speed. All this to say the C4 Pro helmet is the quietest lid I’ve ever worn. The day the C4 arrived I tried it out on highway, ... All this to say the C4 Pro helmet is the quietest lid I’ve ever worn. The day the C4 arrived I tried it out on highway, city street, empty country roads and after a two hour ride was very impressed by how much better my hearing felt. I wore my old lid, the S2 to compare and confirmed the difference. The built in tinted visor is a nice feature along with the preinstalled pin-lock screen is great, but Schuberth’s best engineering is how they made a flip up helmet so quiet and comfortable to wear. I honestly can’t say anything about how sturdy or tough this lid is in an accident. Schuberth’s owners manual says if the helmet is ever subject to impact of any kind it needs to be replaced. I don’t think the helmet is quite that delicate but then I don’t plan to intentionally test that feature any time soon.... Show more

I'm Happy
In the interest of full disclosure I didn't get mine from the Revzilla site though I do buy just about everything else from here. (My dealer was doing a "trade in your old helmet for a discount on a new helmet" deal)So, I've been looking for a new helmet for ages. My old HJC is, well...it's old and I've transitioned to a lot more dirt riding than just on the road as in previous years.I was hoping for an ADV helmet with the peak but, due to my enormously large melon, (you have to put all those brains somewhere), there are none of those that fit unless you're willing to buy from China. (I'm not anymore).I even tried lid picker's service and they couldn't find anything either except a KLIM 1200. The problem with it was it has the stupid transitional visor which, ... (I'm not anymore).I even tried lid picker's service and they couldn't find anything either except a KLIM 1200. The problem with it was it has the stupid transitional visor which, while it looks cool, is as much use a chocolate fireman when it rains.I also wanted a modular which eliminated a lot of others.I began looking and realized without HJC and Scorpion in the mix this wasn't going to be easy. The largest Neotech II crushed my forehead. Touratech's version is no longer licensed to Schuberth but went to Nexx. Like the Neotech my forehead got crushed.I'd tried a Schuberth C3 Pro a long time ago and it also put the squeeze on so I'd about relegated myself to going back to HJC when someone told me the C4 had been tweaked and was possibly a bit longer.Sure enough, I stuck it on at the dealers for about half an hour and was happy to see that, while it was tight, it didn't give me a headache and there were no obvious hot spots. So, on to the helmet itself.I love the design. I've lived in 21 countries and it's nice to have a helmet that reflects this with the globe graphics.Putting it on is a pain. I'm assuming later on it will loosen but, pulling the straps as hard as I could (I'm 6'8 and 280lbs) was a lot of work and it will pull my ear plugs out if I'm not careful.Once it's on it's a ratchet to close instead of the double Ds and, while I've always been a fan of every type of Double Ds I'm sure I can get used to the ratchet.I've heard some complaints about it pulling into your throat. It does a little but, you can pull the liner and you'll see a small strap that pulls those locking straps back which is what causes the choking. You can cut them and the problem is solved.Like Sturgess (sp?) said in his review, I wish it had some exhaust ports on the back. I live in NC and ride all over through the summer. I suspect it's going to be warmer. The sun visor and controls work. I preferred the old style HJC up on top and out of the way which would leave me clear to put on my Cardo but, a sticky pad should sort that out.I'm not a fan of the inbuilt comms concept on any helmet. Just about everyone I ride with uses Cardo (they're waterproof for one, and they're louder) and yet all of these helmets are coming out pre-installed with the opposition.I'm happy to report that I talked to Cardo and they said it shouldn't be a problem to retrofit my Freecom 4 to the Schuberth.Quiet or not? Read some of the other reviews and it's confusing. Some say it's the quietest helmet they've ever worn while others say it's the noisiest. (I'm betting a lot of that is due to rider height and windscreen protection)Well, I've only ridden it home from the dealers and once to get lunch and I was surprised. After hearing all the hype, and believing my HJC to be about as noise defensive as wearing a colander on my head, I didn't find the Schubert THAT much quieter.A bit quieter? Yes. A whole bunch quieter (kind of what I was hoping for). No, still a lot of wind noise.Pros: The graphics, the quality, Pin lock preinstalled. It fit my massive head.Sun visor has multiple positions to leave it rather than just up or down.Cons: Preinstalled for Sena. No exhaust ports Not a ton of ventilation (no doubt due to them going for quiet)Manufacturers please take note and stop preinstalling junk the majority of us don't want.PS: May come back and post some updates after I've worn it for more than an hour.... New C4 Pro
Finally received my C4 Pro (non carbon one) after much anticipation. First impression is that this is what the original C4 should have been. The interior on the C4 Pro is SO much nicer than the original C4 and is really a step up from the C3 Pro. Fit feels similar to the C3 Pro (slightly rounder than a Shoei) so no surprises there. The field of view is incredible. If you look at the C4 Pro next to a competing brand you can see just how much larger the faceshield is. Most notably, you can see much further down, almost like an open face helmet. The outer shield and internal sun shield are perfectly clear and a pinlock is installed out of the box.I have the SC1 standard and I'll tell you, it was absolute garbage out of the box. Thankfully, Sena/Schuberth released a firmware update and now it works perfectly. If you're buying an SC1 bluetooth for this helmet UPDATE THE FIRMWARE! The audio quality is the best I've ever experienced. The speakers can be moved in the helmet for optimal performance and the microphone is incredible.... and non existent. You can't find the pick ups in the helmet, but man does it work beautifully. I would love to see this adapted across other helmets in the future. The shell size on the C4 Pro in Medium is MUCH smaller than the original C4 RevZilla put on sale. I bought the original C4 from them at a crazy deal but sent it back for this reason. This helmet is incredible at everything except for one thing.. ventilation. I'll be frank, it can get stuffy with this helmet unless you're traveling at speed. Once you pick up speed the mouth vent actually does an incredible job of channeling air to your forehead and not your eyes. But, it's pretty ineffective below 50mph. The top vent is average. Schuberth definitely could improve on that. With the mouth vent closed I was getting some slight whistling, but honestly the helmet seals so well I can't imagine riding with it closed. I found I needed some airflow all the time so I left it open.It seems that everyone is always concerned with wind noise, and Schuberth goes WAY out of their way to market the quietness of their helmets. I would say that this is better than most when it comes to wind noise, but it's tough to say that any helmet is truly quiet at 70mph.So TL;DR version: Super comfy, incredible field of view, great comm system, but doesn't ventilate as well as I'd like at lower speed.... Schuberth C4 Pro Carbon - Tempest
It is very light you don't notice the weight when moving your head around. It's a very snug fit and very comfortable. The padding is thick around the base and lower jaw line and this seals air and noise from the bottom so it does feel a bit warm. The main problem is that on a windy day or at speed there is a lot of wind noise the noise is not coming from the bottom but you can hear it from the sides. I think the carbon shell is too thin and rigid and not sound absorbing enough compared to other materials. There should be sound proofing on the sides. The ventilation is good top vent has a front facing duct but when closed there is still some sound coming through. Could be a much better helmet. Things you need to realize. First it comes in 2 shell sizes and it runs on the small size. I went to Schuberth site, to get correct measurement for my head, indicated I needed a large (smaller shell is for XS to L, large shell for the rest). Ordered the large and it's so tight that I have a difficult time closing the lid (Thinking of ordering small cheek pads). Second thing it only helps with the wind noise below 60 mph, at 80 mph the noise is so loud it hurts my ears and I can no longer use the helmet speakers, My son has the Shoei AIR GT II and with Cardo system and can still make out what is being said. Once I reach about 70mph I start to hear a whistle and it only gets louder the faster I go, I have tried opening and closing the vent, but it made no difference. I do like the quick strap release and the visors, which seem to be much clearer than some of my other helmets. Conclusion: Maybe with a XL and not the pro I might be much happier, but for me at this price, I am very disappointed....
