This product is difficult to manoeuvre and control the amount of fertiliser it drops. The controls are not well designed so hard to adjust. Disappointing, as it doesn’t come assembled. I don’t recommend this product. I’ve thrown it out after one use.

It’s rubbish, I used it once , washed it hung it up in the shed, over a year later went to use it again, the wheels would not move, so I pulled the wheels off, got one to work, the other one drives the cylinder agitator. The axle was rusted to the point of the axle could not be removed. The axle should be stainless steel. This product is absolute crap.

Bought this unit, used 5 times. Axle snapped and the wheel fell off. Totally useless cheap plastic rubbish. I’m looking for my receipt! And I’m looking to check on how much warranty they give on this cheap nasty product. As much as my husband prefers to use a push unit for fertiliser I’ll be getting him a ryobi handheld unit. At least it’s battery operated.

I have only used it for Lawnsand which I know is not a Growmore product that is recommended but it seemed to get into the axle of the spreader, locking it up. So, apart from having to take the wheels off half way through and cleaning it out, it worked well. Suggest the adjuster be set to no more than 4 for this.
All components are not plastic with main shaft made out of unprotected steel.This shaft rusts and ultimately freezes thus not allowing the drive wheel to turn.What a pity as this otherwise is a great labour saving device.
Very easy to assemble and use. The handle is a bit too light, making it flex slightly. Some users complained about it rusting. They obviously didn't bother reading the manual which says you should empty it when you are finished, clean it thoroughly and spray with water dispersing lubricant (such as WD40). When putting it away for long term storage then it should be dismantled and greased. Then it won't rust. I used it to spread Evergreen complete. The packaging states what setting to use on the spreader.
Does what it promises, good even application of various materials and products. However, its working life is considerably shortened by the use of a painted mild steel axle which is liable to rust through when used with ferrous sulphate mosskiller. A rusted axle can be replaced with an aluminium tube 19mm by 600mm. The wheel treads would make a clearer impression on grass if they were half the width. Overall, 40 would be good vfm IF it lasted 20 years!!
Bought this as I’ve become very serious about my lawn and wanted to make sure I could get really accurate distribution, definitive line to my footpath boundary, variable rate of delivery and relatively ease of use. This unit delivered that and my first application was a specialist non-Scott’s product. It did the job well. Assembly was straight forward and best to use the graphic to get this done.Previously I have used (borrowed) a family Gardena spreader decades old and I was very familiar with that one.I’m glad to have this in my lawn care arsenal. Recommended, but price is a bit steep.
Was a bit anxious because reviews of drop spreaders are mixed and it's not a cheap product for a domestic users. On the other hand I have tried but I can't spread seeds and fertiliser properly by hand with the result that the lawn was scorched in places. So I was relieved that it worked well and was easy to use. I set it to a very low spread rate and walked up and down until the hopper was empty. Afterwards power washed and sprayed with WD40 as other users have advised.
Overpriced plastic but kind of works. Instructions are almost useless (even though box says 'improved instructions'). The spread rate setting is impossible to interpret and set. I eventually I think I 'got it right'. Instructions say to use 'Table G' to work out spread rate...there is no 'Table G' in the booklet? Purchased 31/01/2023.
