I bought this product about a year ago, was ok, bought 2 bags 2 or 3 months ago & not the same as a year ago. Price has gone up in last few months, but quality has deteriorated. Won't be buying this anymore, might as well buy cheapest potting mix available & sift out coarse matter & add some fertilizer & coir for better quality to this poor quality mix.

I've started gardening these few months to past time during lockdown & bought a bunch of different seeds from veggies, herbs, ornamental and trees etc. I came across osmocote seed & cutting & haven't used anything else since. So far all the seeds have germinated with no hassle. The baobabs I scarified germinated within 2 weeks & the non scarified 4 weeks. With the right temperature, non-chlorinated water, Osmocote soil & sun the seeds were thriving and germinating quickly. Also I have propagated some dracaena cuttings & so far they have been doing well. Definitely recommend this product.

False advertising & not suitable for raising seeds at all! The whole thing is full of chunks and needs sifting. Definitely not what is use to be a year ago. I wont buy again

I was really looking forward to using this product after comparing it to others, the promotional material showing all the bells and whistles made it look great. On opening the bag to get a trowel load I noticed the bark was a little chunky, not as fine as expected and some the coir material was in big hand sized lumps. My conclusion the product was not well mixed and wasn't screened so I was somewhat disappointed. Competing brands purchased in the past were evenly mixed and fine to give sprouting seeds a good start.
I am an experienced grower and successfully raised thousands of seeds in the old Bunnings seed mix. I was a bit concerned when seeing that the mix had fertiliser in it but thought that Osmocote may have known better. Alas, I wasted at least 15 good quality seeds without one success. Just call it a potting mix Osmocote & retrain the people who made the name/mix. Take it off the shelf and rename it Bunnings because it has cost me time & money.
Significant drop in quality lately. Mix is full of wood and bark and is unsuitable for growing from seed. I'd sift them out, but honestly doubt there'd be much of anything left.
Similar to most other reviews, this product changed its formulation for the worse. It used to feel like 50/50 sand and soil with a sharp, fine texture I always had success with. Purchasing this year it has barely any sand and feels like a potting mix with large pieces of bark. Will consider making my own next year.
Quality product, worth the extra $$'s. Great success germinating in this potting mix opposed to others.Wouldn't use this product for just potting mix, I would seek a possible cheaper alternative or look to get the correct osmocote product for the application. This works great for cuttings and seed germination.
The mix has a lot of wood chips and the mix is water shy, water sits on top of the soil in my seedling starter tray - takes ages for the water to go through I had to take a stick and poke the mix so the water goes to the bottom, creates more work. I am getting something else. Leaving this for a potting mix for established plants. Wondering if some of the contents went off as I had it in the shed for a long time, waste of money.
Bought this seed starting mix.. Very average stuff. It's not even a sifted mix, therefore large chunks of wood and small stones (1cm in size), you DO NOT want this in seed starting mix. There's no vermiculite, no perlite which is a must have for seed starting. I do not recommend this stuff.
