SE Electronics se2300 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone

I’ve had this microphone for a couple weeks and it sounds great for the price. I have a higher pitched voice and it brings out the rich lows of my voice without the piercing highs. The Slate microphone modeling is incredible. You can really mold a unique sound for yourself. Shock mount is also very sturdy and doesn’t feel like it will sag overtime.

This is a great value. This mic compares well to mics in the $300-$500 range. It includes a shock mount, pop filters and mic cable. I use it for voice overs primarily but have recorded acoustIc guitar, Foley sound effects and singing - it has performed well for each task. It requires very little Eq to sound good - and when matched with my UAD Arrow, the unison mic pres and Neve plugin make this $200 mic sound like a million bucks! Highly recommended. sE is a great company. They spend their money making great mics, not on marketing. If you haven't heard heard of sE, that's why. But check them out. They have a great reputation!

I used to own a commercial studio, but then I sold most of my gear about ten years ago (just got tired of the studio game). I recently decided to get back into recording and bought a bunch of stuff for a nice project studio. I have owned Neumann U-87's, AKG 414's, Sennheisers, you name it and I have to say that I was blown away by how great this microphone sounds. I'm not even going to say that it's a "great mic for the money", because in my opinion, it's just a great mic, PERIOD. Unbelievable build quality (seriously...better build quality than the Neumann TLM-103 I used to own), with a very rich, clear sound and super low noise. Hard to believe this mic exists at this price.

A top microphone for a bargain price

I am a beginner in the business of voiceover work and needed a good quality mic to start the ball rolling. I did an enormous amount of research on which mic to buy and finally decided this was the one however it was more expensive than many of the others I had looked at. However the price PMT charged for it was amazing! Over £400 on Amazon but £159 on PMT! I didn’t hesitate to buy it at that price and have been delighted with its quality. It is a solid well constructed mic and the quality of the recordings it produces is second to none, the included pop filter is another bonus. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a top quality mic, and at the price PMT are charging cannot be beaten. Excellent neutral microphone for recording classical music

The microphone is exceptional. It has a warm sound, loads of bass response, but also a little boosting in the "air" frequencies. Over-all, it's a very neutral sound. I intend to use it for recording classical double bass and string chamber music. It will do exceptionally well for this purpose. It is very similar to the vintage version of a well-known microphone (C414) that share some design and function elements. It also does very well as a live mic for improving sound quality of zoom teaching. I use this using my Zoom H4n as an audio interface to very good effect. Eventually I will upgrade my interface, and I expect a big improvement. A small note, this did NOT come with a pop filter as advertised. Great Quality Microphone

Considering the price of this microphone, it is absolutely fantastic. It hasn’t given me any problems at all. I love the -10 and -20db options, which really help reduce background noise and clipping. All in all, I really do recommend this for anyone on a budget.

Great mic!

sE 2200 mics are really great mics. Hand built. It's NOT lightweight. Heavy in this case means quality. The sound compares well to my AKG414 and Neumann tlm103. I have two of these.

I'm Sold on SE Electronics!

Overall:This mic really sounds amazing. I buy a lot of mics, and usually within a week or two, I'm able to talk myself out of why I initially loved it and go back to my main mic.It's nice that it has two high pass filters and I do engage one of them to get more of a balanced sound. But if you leave the filters off, you'll get a really full and detailed low end as well. It's easy to use and straightforward! It's a mic! Nice that this came with a shock mount and pop filter which assemble very easily. The product itself from a hardware standpoint doesn't scream high quality/durability. The grill has some give to it, and there's a lot of plastic on the shock mount and the pop filter. This thing captures very accurate details of my voice, is well balanced for by preferences with one of the high pass filters engaged, and has a seemingly non existent noise floor. I love trying new microphones. I've got 6 in my mic locker so far, and I plan on having 30 plus. But I'm so satisfied with this mic, that it's taken away a lot of my desire to buy any other mics in the near future. BUT... I am also very intrigued to see what else SE Electronics has to offer now. I'm an instant fan, and this mic is currently my every day mic for voice over!

Review of SE Electronics X1 S Vocal Pack

The microphone is excellent only slight issue is the manufacturer has not made the switch action firm enough and you can accidentally change the setting of the attenuation and filter switches. But specifications and performance are excellent.

For this pricepoint I wasn't expecting top notch quality, especially since you get a shockmount, a nice study pop filter and the microphone itself.The durability of this microphone is good until you get to the grill/mesh covering the capsule, which you can easily dent compared to other microphones. I'm using a noise gate on top of it with a DAW software and I can not at all hear desk noises or any unwanted noise. That's pretty awesome to have.What I LOVE about this microphone setup is;The shockmount: I came from a Rode Procaster and had to use a Rode PSM-1 shockmount. The knob to screw the microphone on the Rode was SO difficult to screw on. This one, the microphone slots into place without passing through the hole, and you screw it on with a large knob. It's as simple as that.I love the setup, but my favourite part is the shockmount by far.
