I think people need to manage their expectations better from what is essentiall a 35 dollar dry sack with a cheap plastic nozzle. It broke when you dropped it? Things break when they hit the ground, that's life. Doesn't get warm enough? You should have been able to tell from the material and price point that this thing isn't going to conduct heat very well, and that it's a "works in a pinch" type of product that wasn't going to provide a hot shower worthy of a 3 star hotel while roughing it in the mountains. The nozzle gets clogged up? Use filtered water. Water pressure isn't great? This thing operates by gravity, so the water you should expect is that of droplets falling by the force of gravity - like a drizzling rain. Do you expect your gravity filter to run like ... This thing operates by gravity, so the water you should expect is that of droplets falling by the force of gravity - like a drizzling rain. Do you expect your gravity filter to run like a faucet? While it does seem like the product suffers from some QA issues vis a vis leaking when the nozzle is tightened, as someone who got lucky and purchased a non-leaky unit that I've yet to drop on the ground while it was full of 3lb of water, I consider this one of the best purchases I have ever made. My usual set up is to fill it about 2/3 full with clear river water or potable water from a campsite, hang it on the nearest tree away from people, and douse away in anything from a squat to crouched position, closing the nozzle between rinses, holding the nozzle to direct waterflow as needed - and it works like a dream. I don't bother heating the water up because I haven't camped in very cold places and I rather like cold showers. There's nothing like being able to get clean before bed after a long day on the trail. Not wet-wipe clean, not quick dunk in stream or lake clean, but shampoo'd hair and body washed head to toe clean- and this product makes that possible (of course I use biodegradable body products). For 35 dollars, the improvement to my quality of life on the trail comes at an absolute bargain. I once paid 12 dollars for a titanium spoon - a SPOON. In terms of improvement to quality of life per dollar, this thing beats that spoon and a lot of camping gear you can buy by a mile. So, if you what you're buying and manage your expectations accordingly, a product like this will be one of your favorite items in your pack, as it is mine. The only con - no trees, no shower.

I am kinda torn on the amount of stars to give. The shower itself is a good idea and it works as advertised. Actually, it usually was enough to make sure two people got clean and refreshed. However, after having used the shower a few (8) times, the bag itself developed a couple of pinholes through which the water started to escape and then the shower head didn't seal properly anymore. The result was that - by the time the water was warmed up - the water also had more or less escaped the bag. I am sure the trees I used to hang the bag (the supplied line is strong enough and long enough for said purpose in almost any location) had no objections, but I did. In typical REI fashion, the bag was replaced without any kind of hassle and thus, I got the same bag again, ... MoreI am kinda torn on the amount of stars to give. I bought this for car camping. The idea is to fill it up, let the water warm up and then rinse off after a day of hiking. I don’t expect the cleanliness of a hot shower at home but I was looking for it to help me freshen up at the end of the day. The water flow is minimal, even with the valve turned wide open. For example, if you have hair, don’t plan on washing it and then actually getting the shampoo out with this :-) The problem is, I filled it up from a creek that wasn’t perfectly clean and debris (tiny leaves etc) from the creek clogged the showerhead and no water would flow so I didn’t get to use it. The product is good but note to user, the water must be perfectly clean with no debris. If you’re car camping, I would suggest the campsite water source… if ... MoreI bought this for car camping. I have had this shower for 3 years now, and it mostly gets the job done, but it broke a few days ago because I tried to fill it and hang it myself, but I laid it on the ground in a wrong way and broke the nozzle off. Very unfortunate. It is hard to fill it and hang up alone, since it gets very heavy. They offer no ideas on how to best tie it and hang it up. If you buy it, I suggest you learn a variety of knots and have a carabiner on hand. Also, when unpacking it the first time, make sure you learn how it was originally folded in, so you can efficiently pack it back in.Also, the nozzle is round and smooth, which make it hard to twist when your hands are soapy/oily.As another reviewer said, there is lots of room for improvement. Things I love about this:1) Works well for it's intended purpose, and you can shower in the backwoods with stove-warmed water2) Also doubles as an extra dry-bag and can fit my 3-season sleeping bag3) Great to fill at a nearby stream and hang at the camp "kitchen" for washing dishes and hands, no one at your camp is tempted to wash dishes in the stream or lake itself (which is bad, please never wash your dishes in/near lakes/streams, even when not using soap)It's not a real shower, but it keeps you from getting uncomfortably icky and also makes appropriate land stewardship easy, plus doubles as an extra dry bag if you don't happen to already own several. It's simple, durable, and easy to hang. It gets a lot of attention (and use) when camping in a group.
Very Lightweight and compact, easy to transport and store. Holds lots of water and gives a more than adequate time to shower. Worked well for how I had to rig it up which was not the fault of the camp shower. Not complicated to set up and heated the water nicely when left in direct sunlight for several hours. Low water pressure is a con, ifihbd a wash cloth helped immensely to get clean. The shower head was a bit difficult to open and close, especially if you had wet or soapy hands. Still a decent shower that worked well for me.
Very small pocket shower. The top folds closed. Not made to not leak. No hose to kink. Nice shower head. If over tightened it leaks. I am still working on getting it to not leak. Good in situation like backpacking because of compact size as long as one can tolerate leaking. If hung right side up leaks from top not a problem. Claims of no leaks from shower head if not over tightened. I did get it to not leak with small amount of water. With large amount of water I may have over tightened. Still trying to get the right tightness.
I'm glad I own this product. It is extraordinarily compact for its use and has multiple uses--shower, dry bag, and water storage/bucket.I'd like to see a little more "certainty" in the durability of the nozzle somehow. I don't have a design suggestion, I hope they come up with an improvement. It's good, I'd just like it to be better.I think the price point is a just a bit high for the value, but that's probably true with all camping gear! Still, I'm glad to own this product. One enhancement I would make is to have a better cord instead of the one provided. I'll probably replace it with 550 paracord and a small clip to make it easy to deploy and set up.
I bought this for camping, but already put it to use when our plumbing went out. It is very compact, rinses well despite the low flow rate. The pocket case is smaller than a cell phone. It will air-dry pretty fast if you pat dry both sides first.Cons: it does have a faint, sweet chemical smell, like pool toys; it does make me question its safety and impact for frequent use. (Its value depends on how much worse you smelled before using it, lol). I can see this being very helpful for things like hunting or backcountry firefighting. If you're at a family campground with clean taps, you might want to just consider a washcloth bath.
To be honest, I’ve only tested the pocket shower indoors so far, given that it’s winter. I filled it up halfway and strung it up in my bathroom to test the flow and make sure there were no leaks. Although it’s a little challenging to hoist up and attach, it provides a really satisfying little flow, and is super easy to control. It also packs down super small when empty, which is great for backpacking. I can’t wait to try it outside later in the summer, when I can test it I the great outdoors!
