While designed mostly for camping, we've found the Alpha pots a great addition to our campervan kitchen. For us, space in the van is at a premium and weight can be an issue. Every little amount of weight can add up, and affect gas mileage and your pocketbook! The alpha pots are light compared to traditional home cookware. And they compact down and nest together nicely, allowing them to be stored easily in one of our galley drawers in minimal space - a huge bonus for us.We especially love the clever “never-lose-handles"!! And the fact you don't need to keep track of a detachable handle like most cook sets. That's a key feature we love.Cooking performance is great! And the nonstick frypan is excellent! This pot is the perfect size for cooking a "real" meal (aka pasta) for 2-4 while backpacking and it weighs almost nothing. Perfect match for my Whisperlite stove. The size and shape will be a little troublesome if you're carrying a smaller pack, but it worked fine in my 60L. I stuffed it with some fragile-ish items to protect them from getting crushed. I think other reviews have mentioned--the handle rotates. It's a unique mechanism but takes some quick inspection to figure out on first use. I love the built in strainer top.

These have been a great addition to my overlanding and motorcycle camping cookset. Nonstick and easy to clean , and are really compact. The silicone lid holder mechanism is genius. Also included a small microfiber dishcloth that I wasn’t expecting. Highly recommend. See these holding up for a very long time with proper care.

Handle lock was very stiff at first, eventually got so that I could lock it in place for cooking. Maybe I’ve got weak thumbs. 😄 Handle pivots to hold lid in place after cooking. Cleans up great. Good size for 1, maybe 2 hikers. Fit my canister, ultralight stove (pocket rocket 2), and canister support inside.
Overall I'm pleased with this pot. I have an 800mL titanium pot that's been just large enough to cook meals in for 2 people, but I was getting ready for a trip recently with 2 of my friends and realized we needed something bigger. This is just the right size for what I wanted -- good volume of food but still compact in my backpack, and very lightweight. The handle took a little getting used to -- once it clicks into place, in order to swivel it back on top of the pot you have to stretch the bars away from each other slightly while rotating the handle clockwise in order to get it to unhook. This wasn't really explained in the instruction manual. This wasn't really explained in the instruction manual. I also noticed that water takes a while to boil, probably because the pasta strainer holes act as vents to reduce the internal pressure (unlike my other pot, which has a lid that locks in place with minimal venting). On the flip side, the pasta strainer works great for what it's meant to do. My only other minor complaint about the pot is that it doesn't have a pour spout, but overall I'm very satisfied with it.
Was looking for a lightweight pot system for a family of four to use hiking and bikepacking. This set is great! We use the smaller pot (1.2L) for day hikes and for water for hot drinks for four. The larger pot (2.7L) will be used for longer trips for dinners and drinks etc. We also bought the sea to summit delta lite set for four. That nests inside the larger pot, but not the smaller one. Inside the smaller one we can fit out stove, pot stand, lighter and towel. It will save a lot of space and weight to be able to nest different items. Slim pickings for a lightweight group cookset but we love this one.
This is a snow melting powerhouse pot for two on an expedition and I would imagine an ideal pot for a big group doing one pot meals. You could make 4 boxes of rice pilaf easily in this thing. The handle that keeps the lid on is a good idea but I’ve found it to start having play in the handle/mount junction. Eventually I’ll remove the handle and just use a titanium pot gripper which would reduce the weight anyway. Using a measuring cup to serve out water is also and option Instead of picking up the heavy full pot .At these pot sizes/snow melting duties titanium’s lower thermal conductivity and resulting heat transfer does make a big enough difference to specifically get a aluminum pot, or heat exchanger pot.
Added this pot to my collection. I chose this size for winter backpacking and mountaineering when I need to melt snow for water. It's light, the lid rests well on the pot, and the handle is insulated so I can hold with my bare hands. I used this for simmer cooking on the PCT last summer and I was happy to be able to stir food while it's bubbling in the pot without the food spattering out of the pot. It was perfect for my "pot roast" and "enchiladas" recipes that can get messy.
Putting the handle in place is a two step process. Step 1: snap it into place. Step 2: latch it securely in place. I forgot step 2 on our last trip. The handle came unsnapped and I spilled boiling water all over the place. It missed me and my son, but it could have been a lot worse. This pot has a design flaw of looking like it’s fully assembled when it really isn’t, and being able to sort of be used when the handle isn’t fully secured.I’d recommend a different pot until they get the handle latch down to a one step process. I’m buying a different pot.
Like others, I found the handle a trick to figure out. There are directions to pay close attention to, and once you figure it out, the handle is solid when locked. Unfortunately the pot does not fit on the large Trangia 25 windscreen - too narrow for the supports when they are flipped outward, too wide to fit when they are flipped down. It is very light to pack. We'll likely end up using it for car camping.
