These bags are perfect! I use a 12l for my sleeping bag, and 8l for clothing. It saves a lot of bulk compared with using a sleeping bag compression sack and a dry bag, and I know my things will stay dry. Unlike STS's first compression bags these actually stay compressed! Please STS, offer a programme where we can all replace our old designs!!

I do another of kayak touring. Getting your gear as small as possible is key. The more compact your gear, the more room you have in your kayak for food. The Sea to Summit compression bags are fantastic. I use a number of them for clothes, sleeping bag, tent, etc. Once fully compressed, I put the item into a Sea to Summit Big River Dry Bag to assure my gear stays dry in the event of contact with water. My pack has evolved over the years and has included more and more Sea to Summit compression dry bags. They are fabulous. Don't leave home and hit the water for an extended period without them!

I recently took this dry bag out on a kayaking trip and was impressed with its performance. It kept my sleeping bag completely dry, despite being exposed to the water multiple times. The material is pretty lightweight but held up well against some abrasions, which gave me peace of mind knowing that my down bag was well-protected. The compression straps were a great feature that allowed me to compress the bag to save space when packing. It offered protection and convenience, and will be a staple in my pack or kayak for years to come.

Love these lightweight compression sacks. Waterproof enough in the rain in your pack. Not waterproof for a raft type trip. Super light. The quick connect buckle helps get the compression top in place. I’ve had other bags that don’t have that and it’s a PITA to get the top on, especially if the bags is quite full
Went on a 2 night camping trip in the N. Georgia Mountains and it was a perfect chance to put this product to the test. It rained over half the time we were out, so I was able to see just how waterproof this compression dry sac would be. I must admit I was sceptical, as I've used similar products from other companies and was let down. Sea to Summit pleasantly surprised me with a bag that compresses and won't let moisture in even in extremely wet conditions. I let the dry sac hang from a tree for the duration of our trip just to test the waterproofing, and everything remained dry inside. The compression aspect of the bag is also well done, and though it does take a bit longer to get the air out opposed to other compression sacs, that is to be expected when you add in ... MoreWent on a 2 night camping trip in the N. Compression sacks are great for getting sleeping bags and clothes into smaller, packable size especially in applications like sea kayaking and backpacking. However, most compression bags in the past weren’t waterproof. Some manufacturers fiddled with one way valves, but these were either pretty heavy and rigid or allowed a little leakage and didn’t work all that well at truly letting air be compressed out. So, I was excited to try Sea to Summit’s E-vent design. It works! The air goes out more easily than I would expect, and definitely better than other renditions. I’ve used it in my kayak hatches and backpack, and it is very appropriate for that use. It’s not as burley (or heavy) as rafting hypalon, of course, but it isn’t designed for that application. The 8 liter fits my 20 degree down bag; opting for the thirteen liter gives room for my puffy and a couple layers, too.
The 8L bag fits my 20degree down sleeping bag with plenty of room left. Easily makes my sleeping bag 40% smaller than the stuff sack it came with. This will free up a good amount of space in my pack that I can use for other things, and gives another layer of waterproofing for the most important piece of gear. This should also fit in most bike panniers just fine, fits in mine.It can be a bit difficult to push air out of the sack but just be patient it does work.
I've tried the bag in a variety of settings. As designed, it's fantastic for backpacking because of its low bulk and compressibility. Where it really shines for me is in any variable weather activity. For long day hikes and multipitch rock climbing, I use this dry bag to bundle any warm non-waterproof insulation (like fleeces) in my day pack where it can be literally lifesaving in a freak storm or in a wilderness medicine context. The shape and weight, especially compared to stiffer dry bags with the classic handle straps on top, make a noticeable difference as this bag takes up about half the normal amount of space, while helping me keep the bag's contents more tidy and organized. This bag is a little more finicky and less obvious to use initially than other dry bags, but is well worth the benefits. Despite the thinness, it's been durable and very reliable so far such as when my buddy's water bottle opened and soaked everything in my pack but the contents of this dry bag.
Used the 13L size to protect a couple of sleeping bags and change of clothes on a particularly wet extended trip in the snow. The bag is lightweight, a great size, and worked well to compress and keep my gear dry. Couple of considerations: The eVent bottom doesn't let air out very fast, so it'll still take a while to compress everything. Try to get as much air out of the roll top as possible first. Second, the sides of the bag use the same coated fabric as Sea to Summit's other ultralight stuff sacks. It's extremely light, but at the sacrifice of durability, particularly long term. Definitely need to be careful to avoid damage, and expect them to lose waterproofing over time.
I am actually quite impressed with this product. I don't fully understand the science of this product but it works and works well. I have emptied and stuffed this bag 4 times since purchasing, and the straps dont waiver. Fully compacted with down mummy bag, this stuff sac is smaller then a bowling ball, and water testing it, the contents stay dry. I was exteremely weary of buying a non pvc drysac for my sleeping bag as there were many cold wet nights back in the Marine Corps and for me thats the worst part of camping, at 40 years old, I have been content with a seperate stuff sack and drysac, but this product definatley changed my mind. I would give it 5 stars to anyone that wants to read, but for the price oint SeatoSummit is at, I fully expect a seamless buying ... MoreI am actually quite impressed with this product. The website could use some work and I specifically ordered the grey, black and yellow bag, but received the blue, black and yellow bag. This is a small oversight as function clearly takes priority, but again-price point dictates accuracy. I will be buying more of these bags as my children age into hiking. Hopefully accuracy will improve with future orders.
