I bought this to replace a 20+ year old dry bag for the boat. I've only had it for about three weeks, but so farit seems to work very well. It seems well made and I'm planning to get 20 years of use from this one.

These bags are great. I stacked three 65 liter, and carried a couple of smaller ones, on my motorcycle for a roadtrip along the eastern seaboard and the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. I used multiple colors to know what was in each bag. NOTHING got wet except for me. I feel that I would be hard pressed to find something that would suit my needs better than these Sea to Summit Hydraulic Bags.

I LOVE these bags. I do a lot of motorcycle road trips and these bags have proven to be indispensable. When I get hit by a rain storm I know the rest of my clothes will be bone dry. Wonderful bags and I can’t say anything negative about them.

I have numerous dry bags for what I do as a outdoor guide. But I have no more confidence in the durability and toughness of my new Hydraulic Dry Bag. I bought this new one to store my camp set, for a trip on the rouge river later this year. I have used it a few times while leading fly fishing overnight trips recently in bad weather and the bag preforms as stated...amazing.
I've owned other Sea to Summit dry bags, and have been very happy with them. I wanted to upgrade with this purchase so I got the Hydraulic (mainly I liked the look of the seal gasket in the photo. The problem with this bag is that they tried too hard to make it sturdy. When you seal a drybag, the first 3 folds are what are going to determine if it stays dry inside -- you need to make them tight and form a perfect seal. The material on this bag is so heavy, that you can't really fold it property for a good seal (and trying a few times will leave you with burning forearms and wrists!). I use my bags for multi-day river trips. I'm about to try this bag on its first trip, but I'm gonna have to change my packing strategy -- nothing critical in this bag. This bag is ... I'm about to try this bag on its first trip, but I'm gonna have to change my packing strategy -- nothing critical in this bag. This bag is probably better suited for light water exposure -- like keeping the rain off of things like maybe in the back of a truck or motorcycle. I don't think I would trust this bag in situations where it may be sitting in water (like in the bow of a trip kayak) But you can buy cheaper bags if you just need rain protection. Unless you need super-durable, this really isn't a great bag. Go with either a cheaper bag for rain protection, or an (also cheaper) Big River bag for heavier water protection.
It truly is waterproof. It keeps water out when I am carrying my camera equipment. But can also keep water in when I plan on carrying drinks with ice for a long day at the beach!
Being a waterman, everything I do involves being in or near water. I love the backpack straps on this dry bag. They are fully adjustable and comfortable! Best part, they can easily be removed to minimize the space your pack takes up. This pack fits everything I need for a day ( or more ) of exploring rivers, lakes or the ocean. With the wide range of sizes too you're bound to find one that's perfect for what you need it for. It's withstood the most extreme conditions that I've ever been in. I've jumped off boats to swim to land, floated down a river while holding onto my pack and hiked through the subway canyons of Zion and not a drop of water ever got in! This bag is tough as nails!
I strapped it on the top of a hard pannier( Jesse Luggage) for a motorcycle camping trip. It held a tent/ground cloth /poles( Hubba Hubba) / and folded camp saw and I could still roll the top the recommended 3 x.It was easy to get that stuff in this size bag and I would not go smaller. I like the shape of it too for stability. Sea to Summit stuff works.
I've used the Hydraulic dry bag for rafting and motorcycling on multi-day trips. It will be one of the bags I use on an Alaska trip this year. It has several attachment loops which are very convenient for connecting carabiners or other items like a water bottle. I purchased it specifically for off-road motorcycle trips because it is made of heavy duty material, waterproof, lies flat, and has several loops for lashing to the motorcycle tail-rack or pannier. The roll top closure is really convenient and easy to use. So far it has kept my clothing and other gear dry on a high water Salt River trip and in the rain on the back of the motorcycle. Having a bag that is versatile and functional adds value to the product.
Pros:*bag is large & holds lots of gear.Cons:*inside material is so “sticky” nothing will go into the bag easily, especially if the thing your putting in is rubberized, like flip flops. Super frustrating to pack in the rain fighting to load the bag.* used one or the three I own on the back of a motorbike, trapped down w/ cam-straps, the buckles broke loose from the bag, totally engineering fail, now 1/2 way through the trip the bag is garbage.
