Great tent. It's pretty light, very easy to set up.Took it to Sierra NF on a backpacking trip, shared with my dad. We're both 6'2+ and about 230#. Plenty of room inside for both of us to sleep with room for headlights and other odds and ends you'd keep in a tent. We were able to sit up just fine and maneuver around easily.Two mirrored side doors allow for easy access into the tent. The bathtub comes up pretty high, which is nice. The material is very thin and light. We had the top vent open, but the tent was soaked by morning. The way the rainfly attaches is with aluminum "claws" that you slide over sideways, then straighten out to grab the stake pockets. It is by far the coolest setup I've seen on a tent, and I have used a bunch of them.It was easy to fit into my 50L pack. I didn't use the stuff sack except for the tent body (don't want any chance of something snagging the mesh). Rainfly compresses enough that you can stuff it almost anywhere in a pack.I felt like I must've been crazy to try a tent that cost this much, but after using it, and comparing it to the other ones I used backpacking, it's worth it. Everyone at camp thought it was the bees knees.

I encountered a fairly serious design flaw which caused me to return it. There are metal buckles in all four corners of the tent body and if the bug mesh touches them when stashed away it could rip the bug mesh. See pictures to better understand. That damage is from 2x setup in living room and 2x one night test trips. The bug mesh had over 10 holes in it. The fabric held up a lot better but still had a few holes. Quite comfortable for two people.My first use of the tent was a 7 day outing in the Colo high country for backpacking and 14er climbing. Ventilation and warmth holding features are as advertised. We camped above 10kft every night; late August into early September. One day included 18 hours of continuous mild to heavy rain and wind; the tent and contents remained perfectly dry inside. We carefully staked and guyed the fly.One surprisingly nice feature: holdback ties and zipper grabs have a reflective stripe that nicely shows in the dark night and from a distance when illuminated directly or indirectly by red or dim white headlamps. It helped us find the tent during the moonless nights of our trip. Not sure how this reflective feature would work with moonlight since it was the week of a new moon during our trip.I never had need to attempt the rain set up process described in TR3 Owner’s manual. I was skeptical of this idea when reading the specs online, but I believe this is do-able, albeit with a bit of practice and cautious crawling on the tent body. The fly vestibule seems large enough to accommodate a person setting up the tent from inside the fly.I offer one idea for design improvement: color coordinate the ground cloth corner tabs to match tent and fly corners. Tent, poles, and fly corners are color coded and assist with speedy set up.

I got the 3p tent as my girlfriend and I are getting more serious about camping now that we have a pup that loves the woods. We recently tested the tent and it has just enough room for us and our Aussie (Marlin).The tent is lightweight for a 3p and easy to split up the load. The bottom of the tent feels quite thin so we bought the footprint to protect this large investment. The stakes are nice but we opted of regular six MSR groundhogs.Here’s the reality. This fits 2 25” sleeping pads and a medium dog at your feet. There is not much more space than that in the tent. Your gear won’t fit…. Use the vestibules or bring a dry bag for your packs. This tent, like most, only comes with enough tent stakes to stabilize the tent and fly, but doesn’t have enough stakes to tie down every guyline and the sack that contains the stakes is hardly large enough to accommodate every stake and guyline, let alone 4-6 additional stakes. Only after one backpacking trip the stake stuff sack already has a tear from stuffing the stakes that have sharp corners, so I’ll have to buy another stuff sack anyways. The rain fly attaches easily to the tent on the four corners, but with the footprint requires an additional step of detaching the footprint, attaching the rain fly, then detaching the footprint.Overall I’m really impressed by the design and engineering of this tent and would recommend to others looking for an ultralight 3 person tent.
Bought this tent (Telos 3p) for my wife and I. We have used it twice. First time was great but it didn't rain, second time got caught in a decent thunderstorm. It was leaking so bad inside we used a poncho between the rain fly and tent. It helped but then we noticed the floor was getting really wet in one area. So looks like the floor is leaking also. I am typing this at 4am sitting in a wet tent. I would upload pics but dosent seem to be an option.
There are a lot of great features to this tent, truly innovative. It's very light, about what my old one person tent was (though I carried more stakes than this came with). The tension ridge design is excellent, truly giving peak head room all the way across the tent. The dry setup is handy, the pockets great. On the iffy side is the packaging, which makes it easy to divide the tent in two for sharing the load backpacking. There is zero room for anything extra, like a footprint which is recommended, and is not totally solid when carried as one piece. Strapping it to the outside of your pack might be sketchy. The negative was that in very heavy rain it leaked through the roof vent, right at a seam, and dripped much of the night. There may be some way to solve the leak, like orienting the tent so the vent is downhill, but it's at the head end so that's tough. A great tent if you don't plan to use it in heavy all night rain.
I bought the Telos TR3 to replace a 20-year old Moss Starlet GT (good but heavy and cramped for 2, bug screen zippers failing) and a 20-year-old Sierra Designs (similar to the Telos 2-side-door design that we prefer, but also with failing zippers). Decided that the Sea-to-Summit high quality lightweight AND roomy tent would work well for river trips, backpacking, and car-camping.So far I've only used it on one backpack trip, camped in it solo four nights (only set up once). It's three pounds lighter than my old Moss (that had GIANT plastic clips). The poles and foot end of the tent and fly are color-coded for simple set-up even the first time. I was concerned that my Thermarest pad would slide around, but it stayed in place just fine, even on a slight down-slope to my feet.One issue I had was with the Bigfoot footprint, which is an irregular hexagon that's not color-coded to orient to the tent (one chance in six of getting it right). This I fixed easily with a blue paint-pen on the two matching footprint corner tabs. I had two nights of moderate rain, tent and vestibules stayed super-dry. (I'm semi-fortunate that the 1-inch hail only thrashed my car at the trailhead 8 miles away, and not me and my new tent). I don't want to know how well this tent would hold up to large hail.At 61 years old, I've used and owned a wide variety of good and terrible tents, starting with a floor-less canvas Baker tent at a boy-scout Jamboree, endured a first-generation single wall nylon "pup-tent" (one vertical pole in the center of each end) for a week in Colorado's rainy San Juan mountains, and the first-generation hexagonal nylon "dome" tent with heavy, brittle fiberglass poles. The last thing I looked for in a new tent is to save a few bucks at the risk of major quality trade-offs.The three-person size has a 1-lb 1-oz weight penalty, worthwhile for us on most trips with two people to have some room for gear and a 50-pound dog inside. (dog-testing and high-wind-testing inevitable for future trips).
The nicest feature of the Telos TR-3 is large door on each side, with vestibule for shoes and packs. plenty of room for two, would not attempt to use for three. Taking the wet tent down in rain, rowing in the rain all day, setting it up again in the rain, even then I was able to stay mostly dry. I learned it's important to keep the fly taut and the ground tarp tucked in a bit, as when taking the tent down I found a pool of water between the tent floor and the tarp, but even then the tent floor kept my gear dry. The lightweight gray anodized stakes provided aren't sufficient for use in sand, so I brought along about 5 pounds of antique steel stakes, and added my own reflective red guy lines to keep the tent stable in the wind. It does OK in light rain, but if it's absolutely pouring and windy, rain will drip on your head. It's the smallest 3 man tent I've ever seen, my girlfriend and my 30" sleeping pads barely fit side by side. 3 people would be miserable. A minor negative is that while the tent is color coded to easily setup, the ground cloth is not, and it's not a rectangle. For dry weather camping it's 5 stars, for wet it's 2.
