$159.00

(55 reviews)

Start building your camping gear kit the right way with a Trailhead sleeping bag! The compact and lightweight sleeping bags are ideal for teens or people who are new to camping and anyone with an occasional interest in camping. Trailhead sleeping bags come in a 2 season profile (comfort level down to -1C) or 3 season. They are a tapered shape which gives you plenty of room to sleep comfortably, but helps keep the weight down. They are perfect to keep in the attic or garage for weekend camping trips. These sleeping bags perform when you need them to, and they pack up small for transport in a hiking pack or in the boot of your car. The secret to the lightweight warmth of the Trailhead bags is the synthetic down. The WaveLoft construction traps air to keep you warmer and this combines with the draft tube on the zipper and nylon outer layer and lining. On the opposite end of the scale, if the weather starts getting warmer, you can unzip the zipper at the foot box to increase ventilation or even unzip the zipper entirely and open up the sleeping back to lie on it like a quilt. These sleeping bags are ideal for scouts, weekend camping enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists. Order one today for your husband or dad for Father's Day or for Christmas.

Good value, great warmth. Packs down well. Easy to stuff in bag. Perfect sleeping bag for camping down in VIC/NSW atm

Good for price.

Took this camping over the weekend in early March. 27°F the first night, wore base layers and the only thing cold was my face. If I was slightly smaller in the shoulders and was a back sleeper this bag would have been perfect for me. As a side sleeper it was a bit of a hassle to turn on my side as the bag was a little tight fitting. But the warmth rating is spot on.

I bought this bag to replace my 20 year old bag which was rated at 20 degrees and served me well. The trailhead is significantly lighter, quality made, the zipper setup allows for good ventilation and packs well.

Great bag
16 June 2022

I've had many sleeping bags in 50 years of Scouting and this one was fabulous. It was light, compressable and very warm. Zipper was flawless. I paired it with a Reactor liner to provide comfort to even lower temperatures.

Laugh at the cold

Everyone needs a warm, synthetic bag to save your good down bag. I use it for winter car camping on the South Coast NSW, which can get sub-zero. It's a comfortable bag with an excellent feature: the material on either side of the zip is stiffened so that fabric never gets caught. Easy to open and close during the night.

Love this bag for the price but I recommend also getting a liner
7 June 2022

I'm not a hardcore backpack adventurer or anything, but I do love motorcycle camping, so I was looking for a low pack-volume sleeping bag that wasn't outrageously expensive. I'm also 6'1", 210 lbs. so I needed something roomy enough for me to be comfortable. This bag is super comfortable. It's soft and warm and packs down nice and small for stowing in my bike's luggage. I don't know why the reviewer Adam from Germany said it was impossible to get it back into the stuff sack, because I find it to be quite easy to get it back into the sack. It literally takes me about 60 seconds to roll the bag up and stuff it in the sack.I will say that if the temps drop into the 40s or lower, you're going to need a bit more than this bag can offer, so I'm going to get the liner to ... MoreI'm not a hardcore backpack adventurer or anything, but I do love motorcycle camping, so I was looking for a low pack-volume sleeping bag that wasn't outrageously expensive. But down into the 50s (Fahrenheit), with socks and sweats, I was toasty and slept great.

Not 2.5 lbs
21 July 2021

This sleeping bag weighs more than 2.5 lbs. I used it car-camping in Telluride in July (I'm from the south east US). It was cool enough outside to have a frosted car windshield when we woke up so roughly in the 30's-40's I'd assume. I was just a little chilly in my sweatpants, wool socks, and 2 sweatshirts in my tent with 2 other people. I also bought a 10 liter stuff sack for it- it just barely fits in the stuff sack (in a good way) but it definitely gets pretty small once its in there and strapped tight. Also I'm 5'7 and I was using the full length of the bag, and there's not much side to side wiggle room either- just enough to roll.

Pushed its weather capabilities
2 March 2022

Works fantastic as I stretched it capabilities under 30F. Wrapped myself in a insulated blanket and snuggled in this bad boy in 22F weather at night in high altitude. I am personally not a big fan of mummy type sleeping bags as I prefer more room to move around as I am 6’6” (78” in) but it performed well and I have no complaints

Stuff sack?
6 July 2021

I like the feel of this bag, and the construction seems nice. Unlike another reviewer, I did not find it impossible to put back in the "stuff sack." I was, however, expecting it to pack down more. I'm not sure what size that water bottle is in the photo, but it must be some extra large version compared to the standard camelback. That, or someone miss measured with their photoshop. There is no way to compress this sack, and it is 17 in by 9.25 in. Quite a bit larger than I was expecting. Unfortunate for me, as the pack size is important. I hope it is worth it!

Who designs a sleeping bag that can't be put back into it's sack
31 August 2020

Warm as rated, decent zippers. Roomy enough to be comfortable, but without carrying extra weight. HOWEVER, the bag simply cannot be put back into its sack UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, making the packed volume specification a total lie.Even machine packed by the factory this thing is really difficult to get out of the sack, and it's truly impossible to get back in. The headache this brings packing it back up every night is simply not worth it, so I returned it to the store and will buy a bag whose designers put a bit more thought into the user experience. Massive PITA to save what, 2g of extra sack weight for a sack that fits?
