This compression sack does exactly what it’s supposed to - compress. It does so with 4 evenly spaced straps. Even though this is sil-nylon (a bonus that it’s water resistant for my quilt), it compresses quite easily. My quilt fills it full prior to compression and this allows synching it down fully. Quite the space savings in my pack - I may get another just so I could put 2 sleeping bags/quilts in the same space 1 used to be.

This compression sack is the bomb! My daughter has some coordination issues, but was easily able to close the sack independently, and tighten it. It easily fit a winter MEC down sleeping bag as well as foam smallish pillow. The trip coordinator was astonished at how compact her camping supplies were. She used one for her sleeping bag/pillow and 1 for all her clothes for a 4 day late fall canoe camping trip. Would highly recommend.

This was perfect for my -10C sleeping bag (which I somehow lost the stuff sack to?), and the compression straps allowed it to sit horizontally at the bottom of a 40L pack.I liked the material a lot, and the straps for compressing/releasing are very smooth. However, I noticed that the straps would sometimes 'flip' (so that the strap/buckle becomes twisted and facing the 'wrong' side) -- not sure exactly how this happens, but I'm guessing if the strap is very quickly released. Not a big deal since it doesn't really affect functionality at all, but I did try to fix it just because looking at it flipped bothered me.

I bought the 20L to mate with my vintage Osprey Silhouette rucksack. The Silhouette has a built in bottom compartment for sleeping bag storage. But it doesn’t seal up 100% water tight. I was able to fit a REI SynCat 20 Long sleeping bag in this compression sack and it fits perfectly in the compartment with minimal effort. Another win for Sea To Summit!
I got these for a beach vacay, with the hopes of compressing all my clothes, swim suits, etc to avoid a checked bag. I haven't gone on the trip yet, but I did test how many clothes it could stuff using clothes I had piled up in my hamper. I was very impressed, it could definitely hold more than a weeks outfits. the straps felt very durable. I was using my whole body weight and pulling as tight as I could, and the straps still felt like they weren't gonna budge. I'm very excited to be taking these on my trip, I'm looking forward to not having a huge mess of clothes and being able to comfortably pack other things in my carry on. Looking forward to using these on future trips!
3 weeks away with only a backpack, these sacks do what they say they will. I refuse to pay for luggage or carry-on when flying so I decided to give these a try, they did not disappoint. I was confused about the sizing and originally ordered two 5 liter, one for shirts & one for pajamas/socks/undergarments. I didn't realize that you can order a variety pack so on the road I purchased an 8 liter for my pants. To put in context I packed 5 light weight pants, 5 shorts, 6 tops, 5 socks & a bathing suit. I also purchased 2 long sleeve shirts while away that IWas able to stow in the pack. Along with the 3 summer dresses in a zip lock, I had everything that I could possibly need. Most wrinkles fell out after a day of unpacking.
This compression sack is more than adequate for my needs! When I went on a three-day hiking trip in chilly weather, I had to pack more stuff than I could have possibly carried. When I purchased this compression sack, I thought I would use it to stuff my down underquilt into my pack so that more room would be available for the gear. To my surprise, the sack worked incredibly well to contain and compress my underquilt, keeping it dry during the two days of rain I had! With my other hammocking gear and clothes, I will most definitely be buying more of these compression sacks!
Bought this to replace an Ultra-Sil Evac Compression Dry Bag that I lost. Didn't realize that they'd replaced that product with a separate dry bag line and this Ultra-Sil Compression bag was different. But for my needs, it's better. No roll top, the compression lid top is hinged one one side and there's a buckle on one of the compression straps, so it's much easier to close properly without solving a knot puzzle or getting twisted straps.
I purchased one of each of these packs for my daughter and son in law for Christmas because they are frequent travelers who like to contain their luggage to carry ons and a backpack each, especially when traveling internationally. They also go skiing a couple times a year and on that trip they have to pack very bulky jackets, ski pants, sweaters and lots of layers of clothes. They have not traveled with them yet, but they did do an experiment with stuffing one of them and they were amazed at what they were able to pack and how small they were to shrink the sack down to! They can't wait to use them next month for a ski trip. I have now decided to buy one for myself.
I bought this for traveling, not for camping. I have used it a couple of times to smush more stuff into suitcases. It's light and does not add bulk. I like the strap across the bottom that allows it be carried more easily. It's just a hand hold, not a shoulder strap. The compression straps and bungee string do hang down and swing a bit, but it is helpful for use as an overnight bag--for example, to keep things handy for a one night stay on a longer road trip. The construction seems sturdy, but I have not had it in service for very long nor subjected it to extreme duress.
