Actually Amazing Sleep

I love Sea to Summit’s sleep system. I have their huge, insulated mat for winter. Amping and it is amazing. THIS mat is the best summer mat I’ve ever owned. Incredibly comfortable and light. Tough for its weight. Easy to pack. Works great with their sleeping bags and pillows. It is long, though. Make sure your tent is long enough! Mine is just so.Furthermore, it arrived in incredible speed. Altitude is on of their game. The price was fair (same as other retailers) and the availability was clear. Happy to be a customer.

I now have 2 extra smalls. As far as I can tell, this is the lightest inflatable around: it is certainly a major improvement on any other mat I've owned. The XS is more than long enough: I can't understand why you'd want a longer mat for hiking. Whilst it is thin, these are thick enough to do the job, are ridiculously easy to inflate and very fast to pack up. The yellow colour gets dirty quickly (very small matter), and whilst insulated, these mats are still detectably colder than SI mats. They are moderately slippery and can move around a bit. The noise is HIGHLY over-rated: I don't know how people even notice it! Seven uses, all bush camping (no prepared campsites) and no problems at all so far. I would definitely buy another (I just did! Wifey now has one too). ... MoreI now have 2 extra smalls. As far as I can tell, this is the lightest inflatable around: it is certainly a major improvement on any other mat I've owned. Comfortable and easy to use but not durable

We are currently using these pads in our hitchhiking round the world tour, they are very comfortable for sleeping and easy to inflate but after 2 years of travel, they start to have many holes in the middle of the "air sprung cells". In the beginning i though the holes came from some kind of thorn and i fixed them with the adhesive patches provided, but the pads kept deflating during the night. This morning i inflated my pad and filled the "inter cells" with water to see if any air bubbles would appear and i just found 5 more holes, always in the 'inter cell" parts of the pad so i am sure the holes are not from thorns but from a default of the fabric. I always find myself on the hard floor in the middle of the night. Unfortunately i cant find the invoice of these ... MoreWe are currently using these pads in our hitchhiking round the world tour, they are very comfortable for sleeping and easy to inflate but after 2 years of travel, they start to have many holes in the middle of the "air sprung cells". Favorite sleeping mat

Previously borrowed ultralight mat from two other brands and STS wins in 1) debunking the myth about thickness and confirm comfort comes from air spring. In addition, if the air pad 'grid' is vertical, the side size would be compromised. The mat spec is when moderately inflated. So if you inflate all the way, the size would be smaller than the spec online. I'm 5'7" and definitely need large size after trying both, for both the length and width. If you use quilt, the noise would be more than a quality sleeping bag, but still much better than the other brand's potato chips effect, because STS insulation is fundamentally different.Love the color. And plan to pair it with a closed foam one for the winter.Plus I have been sleeping on it everywhere in the house. Great for backpacking, comfortable
26 March 2023

I’ve used this pad on backpacking trips in Utah, North Shore Minnesota, Patagonia, and Washington. It’s super light, packs extremely small, and doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to set up. I’m a side sleeper and found that the cells distribute my body weight so that I don’t bottom out. Even though the R value isn’t super high, it protected me from the cold ground in 20 degree weather. The only reason why I’ve taken off a star is because I’ve only had it for 2.5 years, using it a total of ~10 times and it already is leaking air and keeping the inflation. For the price, I would expect it to last longer.

Light and Warm: Exactly what I wanted
14 December 2021

I purchased this product for a trip to Alaska where I would be on the move daily and living out of a backpack for a week. For this reason I needed a sleeping pad that was light, comfortable, and decently warm. I have had good experiences with this company's products in the past and I decided to give it a shot. In the end, I did not regret this purchase.I found this product very light and compact and I think it performed as well as I expected. I did enjoy that it has an R-value of 3.1, which is pretty good for something that weight. I found that it did keep me warm at night when paired with a good sleeping bag, even in below freezing temperatures. This product is advertised as being perfect for spring or fall camping, and I agree! I also really enjoy the built in valve system and have found that there is minimal deflation that occurs at night. The only thing I really have a potentially negative comment on is the stuff sack which can be used to inflate the pad. It is a neat idea, but in practice I found it to be kinda silly. I found it much faster and had no issue inflating it by mouth.Overall, great product! I intend on taking this on camping trips year round.

Old Lady Camping Will Never Be The Same!!!!
18 October 2022

Once I hit a certain age, my lightweight Thermarest pad just wasn’t doing it anymore: not enough cushion, too cold for fall camping, etc. I passed it off to the young ‘un and splurged on this baby. In short, this was the game changer I was looking for. It is so lightweight and compact, yet set-up was a breeze. It was ample big enough (I got a large because I roll around a lot), super quiet, and WARM. I tried it out on a 40 degree night and was so toasty. Even the dog figured out where the warm spot was and squished on with me. Speaking of which, I was terrified the 92 lb Lab puppy would put a hole in it, but it was very durable. In short, buy it. It is worth every penny if you love to camp!

Tested Against Two Other Big Brands

I probably shouldn't say which.. I bought a UL pad, big brand, leaked 1st time out. Returned (did not buy from REI). Then, got another brand, "tubular" type, 3". Unstable sleep surface for me. Felt like I was going to roll off. Then I read the reviews: leaks and blow outs. No thanks. I pad is mission-critical, IMO. I returned it. Then emailed STS, asked a few questions. The STS (this one) is 30D top, 40D bottom fabric. Nylon, not polyester. Seemed good. And the "tufted" sleep surface seems very stable to me. Only have tried out at home a few times. I'll still baby it in the field but expect no issues.Pros:- Inflates on 4-5 fills of the sack - without me blowing into it. I stick my hand in it, inflate that way.- 2" is enough for me and I'm a side sleeper. But ... MoreI probably shouldn't say which.. I bought a UL pad, big brand, leaked 1st time out. But this is relative - your choice.- Seems well made.- Without cutting into it, insulation process looks really good. R value does make a difference in cool to cold weather.Cons:- I'll never use the pillow attachment and I have had a STS pillow for like 5 years. Seems like a gimmick but this is the world in which we live. I'll just not use it.

The search is over! Finally a lightweight mat that doesn't break the bank. No crazy fabrics you can't pronounce, just smart quality construction.I've had the comfort light for many years and have never had an issue. Just pack and unpack it in your clean tent only. Its not a pool toy.As for comfort, it's an ultralight mat. Made for keeping you warm without any pressure points. So it helps to be very tired. The included pump sac is much easier to use than expected. It works sort of like filling a plastic bag with air, and then forcing it into the mat. Great for keeping moisture out.

I used this pad for over two years working as a backpacking guide and going on personal trips as well. I used the pad during spring, summer, and fall. I was on a camping trip when the pad got a hole close to the port. Not wanting to spend more money, I decided to give the warranty a try. Shipped the pad off to Boulder, and while they could not repair the pad, they did send me a new one. I had to provide some extra information, but I was so relieved to be able to use the warranty. I am hiking a section of the AT starting this week, and the Sea to Summit people rushed my order to make sure that I got the pad in time.
