The disk came shortly after I ordered it. I didn't immediately use it because of other responsibilities. I intended to use if for backup. The disk has been in use for about a week and appears to work well. Call me in a year or two and I can tell if the drive is still operable as I expected.

Drives work great. Bought 4 drives to replace existing drives in a QNAP NAS for plex library. All is well as far as performance. Warranty is an issue and requires more work for it to be honored since it shows as different drives that were sold differently. So far, too lazy to do the extra work for warranty. Eventually I will probably work on getting them registered but will require either seagate or seller to fix the warranties :(

First off the drive I got was labeled "TERASCALE" which made me question at first if I got the wrong hard drive. After looking up the model number in Seagate tools it comes up with the right specs but also had a few references to Dell so I suspect these are pulled from them. Either way the hard drive works fine. My problem with it is noise. It's noisy. If you have an external hard drive sitting on your desk, this sounds exactly like that. I have a quiet system in a quiet room and this is all I can hear. Just a constant hum & spin sound. Not a big deal for some of you. But then there is the clicking. At first I thought I got a dud but the click is normal. After the hard drive is idle for a few minutes it tries to constantly park the head and it makes this clicking ... MoreFirst off the drive I got was labeled "TERASCALE" which made me question at first if I got the wrong hard drive. Common issue with these drives, you can look it up on YouTube for the fix... which isn't really a fix. Basically you need a program to write a small .txt file to the hard drive. Mind you this only works if you plan to use it in a desktop. If you can deal with the noise & the click, it's a solid hard drive.

I needed a new hard drive for bulk storage of my videos, music and other stuff and this one fit the bill. It works perfectly fine so far and I approve of this drive
The EXOS Drive is supposed to be on Seagate's higher end, and has Seagate Secure Features. The drive under normal use runs fast and cool, but during the transfer of about 2.5 TB of data I wanted to back up, this drive can get so hot that you cannot grab hold of it. In my case the drive was not in an enclosure of any kind (I used just cables to connect to the external drive port). It did not fail at all during the transfer, even with the heat, so the drive is extremely resilient......I can easily recommend it for another reason. I don't believe in keeping data on large drives (over 6TB) because if the drive does break you can lose a lot. I have (12) 4 TB drives and I don't have to worry about losing everything if just one of the drives should fail.
The drive I received is also listed as TERASCALE not EXOS, but the model number and specs seem to be the same per Sea Tools. Date of manufacture is 2018. This drive is LOUD, easily 2-3x louder than the 7200 RPM 2TB Seagate it replaced. Power-on hours and lifetime bytes written were listed as 0 in Sea Tools, but the drive had a date written on the top of the label in marker which makes me think that this drive was used and the time counters were wiped in the firmware. As loud and annoying as this drive is I'll probably be pulling it and using it in an external enclosure.
This hard drive is just okay. It is noisy as well as slow. I bought this to puti n my linux system and primarlily to download games and other multimedia content like music and movies. It is noisy and very slow. The perfromance of my mulitmedia suffer due to slow read times of the drive. Also it is noisy. I am probably going to purcchase a better 4BG hard drive
What was on the web page was too good to be true; a $170 4TB Exos Enterprise with a 5 year warranty for $90. What I received was a 4TB Terascale drive with no Seagate warranty. But the performance was so much better than the 4TB Barracuda drive that I decided to keep them. These should be incredibly reliable, and to save $80 I'll take the risk. Sill, there is no excuse for misrepresenting the product. Other reviewers said these drives are loud, and they were when the drive was running on the desk. But as soon as I had the drives mounted, I couldn't hear them over my case fans.
I'm using this drive for my Home Network as backup and Storage. It is not in RAID and not in a NAS. There are probably bottle-necks everywhere in my setup. Because of that, transfer speeds have been slow. But the drive when transferring files from one Drive to another on the same computer seems to have good speed. It's not a requirement that I have fast transfer speeds so it's serving it's purpose. Guide I used to format and Partition on this hard drive in Ubuntu 18.04: http://dev-random.net/creating-mounting-partition-lager-2-tb-linux/
the warranty on these drives is based upon the manufacturing date. a call to segate confirmed this over the phone with me. they will honor the warranty but you are likely to only have a 2 to 3.5-year warranty instead of the 5-year advertised warranty. you can get the full warranty but you'll pay 50% more. otherwise, the drives (2 of them) seem to work great.
